I guess it will come eventually, but they just got a big crew carrier...

True. This would still be their first large base ship though.

Didn't see this here so thought it was worth mentioning...

Notice anything?

That they're expecting to have them released in April?

Exactly! That's a whole lot sooner than I would have expected. Who knows? Maybe they actually could this time?

Also, the sun could rise in the west 😛

Yeah an April release would be awesome. Wave 6 was supposed to release in December so they probably held off announcing it.

It will stink if they are delayed because it will mess up hyperspace.

A predictions thread? I'll bite.

Wave 8

Empire : TIE Brute : Only notable because it will have a cannon slot.

First Order : TIE Dagger : Also only notable because it will have a cannon slot.

Resistance : BTA-NR2 Y-wing : Rebel Y-Wing with a slightly better dial and a tech slot. Adds some variety to the wave.

Republic : Clone Z-95 : Same dial and stats as the normal Z-95, but with Adaptive Ailerons and a torpedo slot.

I'll even go one step beyond!

Wave 9

Republic : V-Wing : A TIE/ln that traded one hull for a shield, and has an astromech slot.

Republic : Eta-2 : Expansion will have Anakin's yellow one. To get Obi-Wan's you'll need to buy the Squadron Pack , which will also come with 2x V-wings.

Separatists : Droid Tri-Fighter : I expect this will be very good. Stats and dial similar to a TIE Interceptor, maybe a canon slot?

Separatists : Separatist Sheathipede : Mark my words, 2x Tri-Fighter + 1x Sheathipede = Separatist VIP Escort Squadron Pack

Resistance : T-85 X-wing : It's bigger, so the T-85 is to the T-65 as the TIE Silencer is to the TIE Interceptor.

The Naboo large-based ships are not exactly combat ships... most of them are lightly aremed, and with retractable/concealed guns. but I agree they would look super cool on the table (specially if FFG gets that shiny chrome right).

I don’t think that’s a big problem really. For one thing FFG has in the past played fairly loose with translations of military-power-in-lore to red dice, also there’s room in the game for support ships if appropriately costed, and like you said - they look awesome! They’re too iconic a part of the prequels for FFG to leave out I think. That said, they need to be chrome - that matt grey finish they’ve put on the N1s might look rubbish scaled up.

Adaptive Ailerons? How?

Anyway, it's not very easy to find a niche for the Clone Z-95, as it is kind of similar to the V-19 Torrent (2 Attack and 2 Agility, but with 2 Shield and 2 Hull)

I would give it 2 torpedoes and maybe a sensor slot.

Warthog and Hawk as named pilots (other options: Wolffe, Sinker and Boost). Wolfpack Squad pilot and ?? Escort as generic pilots.

I hope that your wave 8 is correct at least in part, as I think we very much should have the TIE/rb and the sequel era ships. I think neither the TIE/rb or the TIE/dg will have a cannon slot. It would be interesting and I'd welcome it, but I expect the /rb to be a standard TIE with 3 attack and a bullseye ability for more, and the /dg to be a standard TIE with 3 attack and at least one or two force-users as pilots. If either was likely to get the cannon slot, I'd expect it to be the /rb. Clone Z95 should have a better dial than other Z95s, and maybe a sensor slot.

Everything you've got in wave 9 sounds great, especially the squadron packs. I don't expect the tri-fighter to have the cannon slot. I know it's only from a non-canon source, but I'd still kind of like the V-Wing to have the missile slot. I know some other people think the Eta-2 should get a cannon slot, but I think the secondary ion cannons should be portrayed as a ship ability or a config. I think you're exactly correct on the T-85. It won't be the T-70 but bigger, but rather the T-65 but bigger and faster. Only primary weapon and torps, barrel roll, s-foil config that's more similar to the T-65 version. Might have sensor slot.

Anyone else think this thing should've taken the spot for the next first order release instead of the Xi-class?

Image result for night buzzard star wars

Got a lot more to chew on from a design standpoint, both with the appearance and the roles and mechanics it would have in-game. Likely fills a similar niche stat-wise to the Xi-class as cheap(er) crew carrier with middling hull and shield spread, with the added bonus that this would likely be the FOs first true turret craft. Just thinking about that makes me want it more.

If and when this thing makes it into the game and they fail to incorporate the space smoke as a mechanic, I'm raiding the FFG offices.

They w0uldn't have had details in time for it to be in place of the Xi.

The Clone Z-95 could have Adaptive Ailerons as it's ship ability, just like the TIE Striker and TIE Reaper. They already showed that they're willing to do this when they gave TIE Defender's ability to the N-1. And since the Clone Z-95 looks so much more aerodynamic than other Z-95s, and the first time we see it in the Clone Wars is during an air battle, I thought it was an appropriate way to make it distinct from the V-19.

Adaptive Ailerons = movable wings. The Clone Z-95 has fixed wings.

Fair enough I suppose. I suspect FFG don't actually care too much, and I know I don't, but I can see the point. I still think it'd be a fun ship.

That depends: what is it?

So the simplest solution is to just add a hinge and have flappy-Zs!

It's the Knights of Ren ship, which I think we saw fly just a tiny bit in IX. It's neat looking but I think I'm happier to see the Xi for now.

I think the big problem here is that the X-Wing developers aren't clairvoyant. ;)

Riiight, gotcha . Seems like the Xi's still gonna have some interesting stuff regardless, FO remotes and illicits sound funky. But space smoke, man

The Xi is the ship the FO needed the most. And there is design space for a turreted ship for the FO later.

Noxious Gases - at the start of the Engagement Phase, ships in your rear firing arc at range 1 gain a strain token. ;)

Space smoke!

But for the Reavers it was fitting (partly dismantled containments and engines to gain higher speed).

For the Knights of Ren...not so.

Typical JJ visual effect nonsense.

Poor writers having to come up with pseudo scientific justifications for that in the books afterwards...

Ah, Star Wars, how I love thee...

Zeta-class, dammit. I want a space turtle.

(of course, I've used up all my requests for ever and ever and ever when it comes to this game).

I know, I much prefer the realism of missiles that explode to release tiny mischievous droids, and robots driving around in tanks. ;)
