What we know so far...

By S.A.Harris, in General Discussion

Here is what I wanna know since I missed out on the EotE Beta. Is there gonna be a limited print run for this beta and secondly, like their 40k stuff, to play a character from EotE with those from AoR, do the EotE need some advances under their belt like it is with Dark Heresy mixed with Rogue Trader?

Thanks

Yes, limited run. EotE Beta sold out pretty quickly.

And as far as we know, no, there won't be any required experience under the belts of EotE characters to keep up with AoR counter-parts, as it has been stated that all careers can be swapped between "settings". So you could make an Ace Pilot who dabbles in Scoundrel, or a Bounty Hunter who is a former Soldier.

Hopefully we'll have a better answer on Thursday. Or whatever day those of us who get to Gen Con have a chance to answer (sadly, I can't bring my laptop - only doing Carry ons, and won't get much chance to use it - so need as much weight as possible to bring back books!)

Hit the local US Post Office and make use of bulk rate media mail shipping for all those pesky, heavy books. :)

I will be not going to Gen Con this year so I can't get it.

You are supposed to be able to order it from the FFG website soon, likely after Gencon.

I'm hoping that's the case, because for me and the group I play with, we're in Australia. The email I got after asking about timing and shipping wasn't too hopeful, though, as the comment from the email was 'check the store in two to three weeks' time'. If that's the case, we might as well not get a copy for testing purposes. We'll have two or three weeks for any testing to take place, once the book ships. And that's with the cost of the book again for shipping. Ugh.

Ace Pilot

  • Starfighter Pilot
  • Speeder (vehicle) Pilot
  • Capital Ship

Ace pilot is shown as a talent tree ie its not a career but a specialisation

But what is it a talent tree too? That's one of many questions. :)

Possible careers for Ace pilot to be based out of, "officer", "veteren", even a generic "pilot" career with Ace being the hot shot tough guy and the others being things like "bomber" or "wingman".

Ace Pilot is a specialization of the "Dark Lord of the Sith" career.

On the picture with the "Select species" section, there is also a section on the other side with what seems to be something about Duty.

The topic says "Alliance rewards" with the sub-topics "Equipment", "Vehicle" and "Strategic Assets".

This implies to me at least that Duty could be spent to 'buy' stuff for missions.

What was the saga version?

Could it be a career specialisation for Pilot or Soldier?

As soon as this book hits at Gencon this board is gonna light up like the 4th of July.

Or Christmas on Coruscant. :D

"Life Day" on Coruscant.

Some guesses:

Soldier Career:

- Infantry

- Armor

- Combat Medic

Commando Career:

- Pathfinder

- Infiltrator

- Technician

Officer Career:

- Field Commander

Naval Officer Career:

- Capital Ship Operations

- Ace Pilot

- Marine

IF it is on sale at GenCon, why is it not onsale here at their site yet? Maybe they are waiting until they actually "announce" it at GenCon or until they get back?

I just want to get my hands on it soon...

... 31 flavors of Stormtroopers? Wow. I'm sure it'll make sense when I see and use them, but right now that seems like a lot.

Thanks for the write-up. Interesting stuff. The idea of leading a fleet from the bridge of a Mon Cal cruiser is always appealing.

You wouldn't believe how many people that is tripping up. A bit of hyperbole, that. There are a LOT of Stormtrooper varieties in the book. Possibly not exactly 31, but a lot.

I think that was a Baskin-Robbins joke. ;)

I guess not everyone is familiar with BR. Their blueberry cheese ale ice cream is great.

Well, that's embarrassing. Nope, not familiar with BR. I think there are a few, but not too many in Canada. Certainly none where I live.

Anyway, the other half the post stands. Thanks for the article.

It's okay. At least everyone here knows what a d20 is. Right? Right....?

I haven't used one in ages. Hackmaster was the last time if I remember correctly.
