Great stuff and very inspirational videos. thanks for making them.
Hi everyone,
here are some pictures of all the miniatures I painted for legion, with an appropriate background (I hope so).
I'm now done with heroes and support. I'll be able to take care of all te troopers now.

Many thanks for your very nice comments Sorastro and Jabby !
I'll try to keep up.
Here's a picture of my latest miniature.
I still try to improve the way I deal with white.
DamL, while your minis look great, maybe this isn't the best place to post all of them. I keep seeing updates to this thread hoping it is another from Sorastro himself. I bet I'm not alone.
You should start your own thread, and update it. That way those of us who like your work have a place to see them and we know what the updates will be. Just a thought.

Ok, got it.
It was so nicely put.
Ejdmo, sorry for this last disappointement with this latest post of mine in this topic!
For those of you who wish to see my updates, here is my topic.
See you...
Hi folks!
I just wanted to let you know that I completed the Han Solo video last week and will release it as soon as it gets approved (and I have to say I really love the sculpt!).
I will also be moving on to Boba Fett soon... ?
Edited by Sorastro... but I just got Boba Fett and I have no idea how to paint it. Oh wait, there is the imperial assault one, for those of us that can't wait.

I was going to ask if @Sorastro still felt that was a accurate guide for the new model.

Hi Stasy!
I think the basic colour choices for my previous guide are ok. I would like to push things a little further with this new model however - particularly in terms of contrast and colour nuance. I also have some better reference photos of the original outfit(s) this time around to work from (some of which I took myself at an exhibition in London). It's such a fantastic model, I really want to do it justice. ?
As much as I love your videos Sorastro, I have been pushing forward on Han and will also do so on Boba (following your IA video for him). Still, I have learned SO much from all your videos (IA and Legion) that I can honestly say none of my minis would be as good as they are if not for you! Thanks for all your hard work on these and look forward to seeing more!

Now we have a painting sub forum I thought I'd start a fresh thread where I can share pictures of my progress with the Legion minis. Here's a link to the complete video tutorial playlist showing how I painted them.
Here are some pics of the minis I've covered so far:
Happy Painting!
Huge fan! Your are the best on Youtube. Keep up the good work mate

Hi Sorastro! Thanks for the update! Just curious as to if you have an "outlook" in mind for after Boba? I'm fairly confident you wouldn't be doing scout troops, as the biker video could handle that, but Reb Commandos? Also too similar to your color scheme of Reb Troopers....or...?

Perhaps just the Mon Cal and the Dresselian if you don't have time for the full unit?

Hi folks!
I'm actually planning to produce some quick PDF guides for both the Scout Troopers and the Rebel Commandos (like I did with the Fleet Troopers and Snowtroopers).
If I was just painting the Scout Troopers white then I would definitely use the approach I took in the Speeder Bike video and not bother producing any kind of guide, but I'm thinking of trying a different scheme for them...
I'll also definitely be painting the whole Rebel Commando squad because I wan't to play with them. I'll aim to get them done in October if I can.
You are always an Inspiration sorastro!

That's very kind - thank you Andrew! Much appreciated ?
Hey Sorastro! I know you have a Boba video coming, but can you give a heads up on your thoughts for priming? I have three Citadel Cans - Corax White, Mechanus Standard Grey and Black. I'd like to get Boba on the table this weekend, but I'm not ready to paint him yet. Still, I should prime before attaching the flight stand to the base. Makes things easier.
I was thinking Grey prime would be fine - but are you doing something grossly different in your video?

Hey Copes!
For the Boba I'm painting in the video I've used an airbrush to prime in black followed with some zenithal highlights applied from above using grey then white in my usual way. However I'm actually going to show how to do this both with an airbrush and with rattle cans in the video because I think it's a good habit to get in to.
So for my second Boba I primed with a spray can using Mechanicus Standard Grey, which I followed with a Nuln Oil wash, and then I hit him with white from above (I used the Tamiya fine white surface primer but the Corax White would also be fine). I find this approach helps minimise the stark/grainy appearance that shooting white over black with spray cans tends to produce. (This is the Boba I used for a "practice run" and I found the zenithal highlights were pretty helpful.)
If I was going to prime him in a single colour and not bother with the zentithal highlights then I'd probably use white.

Perfect response! Thank you. As a new painter I'm not using an airbrush (yet? haha) so seeing both options is definitely helpful. I'll use your directions - Mechanicus -> Nuln Oil -> Corax. That should at least get me to a point where I can comfortably mount him to the base until your video releases.
Thanks again Sorastro.

No problem! I might also make one more humble suggestion; if you haven't already glued him together you might want to dry fit the backpack to the body for the time being; it should fit snugly enough for gaming with but may be handy to remove when painting parts like the back of the cloak etc..

I've only dryfitted so far - thanks for the suggestion!
