I think they are just different, at least compared to what players were used to play before, but aren't bad.

I feel both Luke/Wedge + 3Bs (Wedge might be the best call if Whisper and Boba keeps being so common) and Luke+Wedge (both with proton) + support (braylen, hawks, dutch, thane, whatever) are solid archetypes that can face on equal footing most of the lists in those cuts.

The more time it passes, the more I value Wedge (despite Luke probably being the funniest thing in 2.0).

Also Quadjumper are nuts. I'm starting to be worried by tractor beam as an action, let's see how it goes

People are starting to see the oppression of tugboats. Even if they move up to 34 points you can afford one or two in your list. 28 points for the control is criminally cheap.

28 is absurd for what they bring.

It's not like they're that much cheaper too. And tractors don't stack anymore. The TLT era was not great for them, but they were still pretty nice against aces.

I know I had fun playing 2 (1.0) tugs against my son's Miranda in a made-up quick game to see what they could do. Toot-toot!

The bullseye and double tractor on medium bases is scary for a lot of ships. It also reduces the effect of having an evade token given how they work now. It's a very sneaky good control element backed by 5 health at a rock bottom price and a wickedly underappreciated dial.

After super Luke, decisions get hard and nothing really feels great.

I’m gonna be the odd man out here and say I actually like where the quads are at. Maybe they need to be a touch higher, but if they are a force in the meta, you would think it would give players reason to consider large base options.

I managed only to watch part of the Semifinal, but I have to say I was impressed by Alex Smittle flying at the crossroad classic: he had a great game and despite having some very lackluster dice rolls.

I found those top 16 lists, I think Dion compiled them. As I said I wasn't watching so I suppose the only rebel player who was in the cut had to drop and made place for Alex

  • Echo Jonus 2xBomber
  • Redline Whisper 3xBomber (no ordnance)
  • Boba IG-A
  • Boba Palob 4LOM
  • Whisper Jonus 3xBomber
  • Soontir Whisper 2xBomber
  • Redline Whisper Vermeil
  • Drea L337 3xQuad 2xZ
  • Echo 4x Bombers
  • Redline Whisper Duchess
  • Vader Redline Duchess
  • Boba Fenn Landoshuttle
  • Redline Whisper Soontir
  • Rexler Whisper Soontir
  • Whisper Duchess Wampa Lamba
  • Fenn Kavil Quad *

11 Imperials 5 Scums

Whisper was by far the most common pilot: 8 lists had her.

Redline and the generic bomber were in 4 lists.

3 Bobas, 3 Soontirs.

More interesting for @Boom Owlmight be that there were 4 5+ ships lists and other 2 with 4 ships.

In this weekend tournament, rebel didn't seem to have fared well.

Can confirm no one dropped. I was 16th (get rekt @abell19 ) I played against phantoms in 4 of my 7 games. Not sure who the rebel list was

The reported rebel in the top16 was a typo.

Mark here, the Crossroads semifinal scrub, and I agree. True, the 1 speeds of it are obscene, but they need good hands to make them work. They will melt if not properly cared for. In my first game against Alex (round 1 day1), I lost because despite my great engagement, he absolutely called the sneaky moves a scrub would not consider, and played Tetris with it to absolutely wreck me on turn 3. On stream, despite my insanely good rolls and his bad ones added to Soontir faking the overshoot of Fenn to pursue the boat, he was able to scramble back together to have his pieces working in harmony, tug tugging, Kavil closing in, and Fenn demolishing. He is an amazing player who bought only the scum conversion of the kits and moved on from there: he just wanted to fly well, and that is exactly what he did. There is a reason he beat Nathan and Dom.

Tugs are like Redline: they are only broken if someone better than you is flying them. Making them cheaper will not help, as bids are big (unless you're me and want the init to Juke and block and to make all the use of your points). If they had a "cooldown" such that tugging nets you a disarm next turn and you can't tug with a disarm, I would love it, because a mastermind such as Will Haigwood or Alex Smittle would be unaffected, but netlisters would get rekt. Also, Marek is a good boat counter: on multiple occasions, his ability has 1 shot them thanks to breach, and then directs all the way.

I keep thinking they might have a spot as bulky efficiency, especially with Blount and Sabine, but Everytime I go fly generic phantoms or fangs they seem so much better against anything that doesn't bring proton bombs.

I said it before, it seems alot of rebel abilities are toned down versions of thier 1.0 abilities, those abilities need to be bad or it's bad for the game. There might be some untapped potential in the frieghters. I suspect those arent seeing play because they've been toned down and from my admittedly limited world view, people like thier fighters.

4 unmodded dice suck: expected 2 hits. I'd rather 3 with double mods or mods on my opponent than 4 raw. Also, I witnessed Dash failing to kill a punisher.

Yeah. I've looked at them principally for bulky efficiency, but every time, I'm like "but you could have fast efficiency instead with the Imperials". Part if my problem is I have no interest in the freighters, so the fighters are basically "medium-fast gun, slow gun, fast little gun, or little gun with torpedoes".

(To the left of) Arch on top!

Redline and Juke/Vader Whisper was everywhere, in 4 of my Swiss games (usually together). It feels a lot like NyManda, but more manageable. That last bit is not an endorsement.

I mean I know that it won't really matter, however Whisper being everywhere sort of sucks because I've been enjoying flying Whisper the last few months, but I hate mirror matches.

I'll just fly the meta killer that is Wedge, Hero of the Rebellion, and the One True King of 2.0

Dear FFG: shake it up every month. The meta is apparently already stale (or we are sheep, same thing).

The 'meta' seems to be polarising into the lists with good action economy and the ability to act with perfect information of board state.

It could not be predicted!

@Sunitsa one thing to look at beyond just the pilots is that Admiral Sloane was in 5 of the Top 16 lists....

Begun, the Sloane War has...

Congratulations @gennataosfor winning the inaugural 2nd Edition format tourney at Crossroads. It might be the only 2nd Edition tourney with the reveal of the Hyperspace format. ; )

All your 2nd Ed only prep payed off!
