New RRG

I think the designers liked the "feel" of Vader (and some of the other figures' rules) and just made him cheaper so he get's played.

There were a lot of figures I thought might warrant some change but just got point drops

Yeah, something something "bring all heavies [namely wave 1] inline with the AAT" was said in an interview. So far, I'm not seeing it.

The range bands for the ATST are *odd* for arsenal (even worse for arsenal 4). The T47 can barely use arsenal. The AAT has barrage. Why not give that to the T47?

Wow this is more than I expected. I didn't know they were gonna change so many point costs.

They did however do alot of the changes I have been talking about for so long. Scale to wookies, surge crit for the airspeeder, the bad generic 1 pip command cards for civil war.

Stuff like field commander as a commander and open transports. This makes me sad they kicked Alex though since this is a major patch for most problems with this game.

That was axed in the last rules errata I think. Only the blue text are new changes, the rest were changed previously.

At a glance it looks good. Open carry units having attacks and being targets makes sense. Wookie scale could be effective. Nice extra wounds on pao, bistan and deathtrooper. Would have been nice to be able to use them in corps though. Speeder compulsary could be very interesting

The biggest issue with the Eweb is it's only range 3. With wookies getting a major revamp, I thought it was possible a lot of these mostly unusable units would get fixed.

So if I recall correctly, either Alex or Luke stated in an interview that the T-Series commander and the generic Clone commander would have the same keywords. We have three new keywords in the RRG (Bolster, Direct, and Contingencies), and it seems incredibly likely that at least some of those are going to end up on these commanders. With that in mind, is there a situation where Direct isn't insanely good in a CIS list? And if the T-Series isn't getting that keyword, what could it be on? Is there a possibility for it to be for Lando or Kallus? Because to me they seem too far off to have keywords already appearing in the RRG.

all named unit hero's have 2 wounds, the Veteran heavy is range 4 and still 26 points .. um ok

My initial impression is very positive. I'll have to wait for tabletop admiral to be updated to see exactly what it does to my lists, but my rough estimates look good.

Also, random thought that just occurred to me: while it is now technically possible to build a CIS or GAR list with just a Field Commander and no actual Commander, one will still need to include at least an Operative just to have enough command cards, at least until we get the Specialists packs.

I think tabletop admiral is being updated as I type this. Or at least the points changes for CIS have been.

Scout Troopers down to 48.

With Iden Versio‘s Tactical strike they actually might see play. A one trick pony alpha strike, but with tactical and steady could do a double move 1, gain 2 aim tokens and attack via steady with 8 black dice. Duck and cover for survival.

I really like a lot of these changes and how they open up the game.

I agree, I think they’ve done a great job with this!

I am assuming the T-Series and Clone Commander will have Bolster and Direct. Giving a free order and surge tokens seems like what the generic commanders should be doing. Also in some interview, they stated that the Clone Commander is decently good at frontline fighting, while the T-Series commander is garbage at combat. Since they are both the same point cost, to counter this lack of combat prowess, the keywords will be much more useful to the droids than the clones. Direct falls in line with this reasoning.

Contingencies seems too witty? for generic commanders, but feels right at home with Lando and Kallus.

I know, I was just providing it as an example. Should have specified.

I'm glad they didn't just go through all the cards and change things, I feel like the points re-balances can go a long way. Can't wait to see how this affects my current lists!

I expected Vader to get an errata to his card. :(

I think they don't want to change too many units at the same time so they can see how it goes.

yeah, they have made a lot of changes with this RRG, more than i thought they would do.

They did reduce the cost of most of the civil war factions commanders and operatives though

They have to have the "Field Commander" keyword, so upgrades like the T-Series for the AAT, or Aayla Secura for the Saber Tank.

Too bad they didn‘t give field commander to General Weiss and maybe even Wedge Antilles.

Actually I think that would have been a great idea, especially for Weiss. Instead of dropping him to 1 point, maybe 5 points with Field Commander.

AMG guys, are you there taking notes?

Honestly, the more I think about Weiss with Field Commander the more I think it's a great idea. Even at one point, I don't think anyone will seriously take him in his current state over Arbmab for 5 or the Hammer Pilot for 10. But even if he were indeed 5 with Field Commander, there would be those corner cases where someone wanted to take an AT-ST or Occupier as a generic commander. I don't think it would be completely competitive necessarily, but it would definitely be interesting enough that people would take it.

Weiss still wouldnt get used even with field commander.

Surge to Hit is compulsory on the AT-ST.

What wouldve been interesting was if they actually attempted to fix the AT-ST... A 10 point cost reduction and a meaningless point reduction to a pilot no one uses and still wont use is just sad.

Its not on par with the AAT... not even close.

The most interesting changes to me are the changes to the Empire and Rebel Core troopers.

Fleet Troopers are now base 40 pts, the same as Rebel Troopers. Maybe Fleet Troopers will be the standard "naked" core units instead of Rebel Troopers.

Rebel Veterans now have a range 4 heavy weapon and the Mk II Blaster is now 4 hp.

Shoretroopers with the T-21b and Mortar are 5 pts more expensive and Stormtroopers with DLT-19 are now 2 pts cheaper. Maybe Stormtroopers will start competing with Shoretroopers.

It seems every extra non-heavy trooper upgrade has a reduced cost. Worth adding in some extras in squad now?

I am new to the game and yet to read the rules. How does one keep track of all the changes? I will be learning the game using the new file so that is good. However, how do you deal with the card changes? Print them yourself, mark the changes on top of a sleeve?

So they removed Standby sharing, but gave the clones nothing to replace it, even if extremely watered down. This will be fun. {shakes head no} They also increased the price of ARCs. Well, at least we know what the weakest faction is. 😒 🙄

Some of the other changes seem good like the open transport, but I’m really surprised that some of the Rebel heavies didn’t go lower in price. Like the wookies bowcaster or the RPS-6 on the Landspeeder still being 31 (though I guess they think the Landspeeder is good since they lowered the base). Still I think they did ok for 3 factions.

If you sleeve your cards, it’s easy to print the changes and insert into the sleeve. Also point changes can be changed with small circular circle stickers you buy at a stationary store like Staples.
