You literally quoted me 1 min into the correction and edit, I thought I was fast but you were even quicker. I didn't even get to see you post, that’s Noghri speed sir.

Maybe I am reading too much into it. I assume the code has seen damage over the years but is it saying Jango was mentored by Jaste.....r Mereel.

And now this is Canon

I was asked where Fett gets rockets for his Z-6 jet pack.

Presumably, Slave I would have a stash of them. How well they’ve aged is beyond me (though perhaps the targeting issue in the Episode is a sign of old ordinance**), but it’s likely that he would have a supply of them.

I also assume he has contacts who can supply him with his regular munitions, favorite arms dealer or even underworld techie that can fabricate his stuff.

Hondo Ohnaka :

"They said you were dead!!!”

“I am SO HAPPY to see you. Ummm ... Er, um about those credits I owe you ... I invested them in this (what seemed remarkably at the time) lucrative blasters for bone broth deal and you see ... "

** I edit Wookieepedia, I can make that baby Canon.

Apropos of nothing @Paladin Ignatius is your name a Jesuit reference?

@Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun Indeed, my lord, it is. It is my middle name, after St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuits' founder.

Official Character Poster

I really wish they would have let him stay dead.

I've always hated the Boba hype. His EU fanfiction was lame. His canon appearances were lame. His clone wars canon was lame. His dad's clone wars canon was lame. I never saw what the hype was about. Why, in a series focused around an actual Mandalorian badass, did they bring back this c-list nobody character? (Too chubby for his armor no less.) I'd be less annoyed if they'd have just brought him back, given him his overhyped armor and let him go on his merry overhyped way, but no, we're stuck with him for who knows how long.

I guess I'm happy for y'all that get to celebrate his return.

I don't get it.

Might as well make an episode about Ponda Baba and his long rehabilitation journey in my opinion.

This also adds to my theory that one of the physical laws in this universe is that pits, whether filled with the giant toothy maw of an apex predictor, or bottomless, or bottomless and exploding, are 110% not lethal.

When do we get the episode where a character is thrown or falls down a bottomless pit, and the protag looks right into the camera, the office style, and says something like, "Well kiddos we'll see him in a few episodes"

Salt aside, glad to see dark troopers making a return.

I 100% agree with this. I have unapologetically been anti-Fett since the beginning. The only thing either of them ever did well in the films was die.

When I was younger, a girl I was interested in wanted me to watch "Moulin Rouge" with her. I knew it was a movie I wouldn't like, I told her I wouldn't like it, and I told myself I wouldn't like it. Then I saw it anyways (because it gave me the slightest chance at performing the mating ritual at some point in the future). Within the first 5 minutes I was enjoying the movie (at the same time the line "Luckily, right at that moment an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof. He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun" was spoken).

This is how this episode progressed for me. When the Slave I came on screen my first thought was "oh no, I won't like this". Then when Boba made an appearance and started talking I quickly warmed to him. I ended up really enjoying the episode. I realize that Boba is there because he sells the most action figures, but I thought he was handled well. I'm still on the fence about him returning for more episodes (rest of the season?), but I'm not completely opposed to it like I thought I would be.

I am very sad at the loss of the Razor Crest. Just after it had gotten fixed up so nicely too...

Yeah I suppose.

I didn't warm to him. It was all cringeworthy to me. Like we're pretending he's somehow this honorable warrior now and an official Mandalorian because his dad was a foundling? Never mind his primary role in the OT was working as a hired goon under a crime boss, or gooning it up under Vader. Dude dropping lines like, "The Empire has returned" like he isn't seeing dollar signs at the prospect of working for them again? Whatever lol I'm getting salty about it...

Like, just give the dude his own mini series, let the Boba fans have their inexplicably hyped character, stop tainting good Mandalorian fun with this guy.

I’ve always been a little baffled by Boba’s popularity given his limited screen time and how he went out like a punk. But he’s got enough fans out there that I’m happy he’s on screen doing something other than falling into a hole.

I feel once again that I should point out the irony of someone with a Maul avatar saying these sorts of things about Boba Fett. That said, I think it's fine to like or not like a particular character. I don't tend to follow any stories about the OT crew either, and I don't feel any particular nostalgia seeing them pop up on screen. There's different parts of Star Wars available out there for everyone to enjoy.

That said, I enjoyed seeing Boba again, even if I never particularly cared for the character. I thought he was a nice addition to the theme of the show, which is exploring Mandalorians and their culture as it has shown up in all forms of Star Wars media. I don't think they would've done the show justice without exploring the character who started all of that. And, like any of the other "cameos" the series has gotten, I doubt he'll stick around to season 3 (if there is one).

100% this.

Also if Boba saves Grogu I will stan forever.

Well, you guys are correct, that up to this point, Boba Fett has been way over-hyped.

Shoot, there's a dozen episodes in TCW series where he's literally a whiney, cry-baby punk. I did enjoy this last episode, although in the back of my mind the 2 characters (this episode Boba and the Previous 40yrs of Boba) did not mesh or even seem like the same character. I figured Dave Filoni was just trying to do right by the hype and make him actually look (on screen) like the fan-boys have imagined him for all these years.

I mean, that's more a symptom of the forums lack of diversity when it comes to avatar options with a Darth title than Maul worship. I was 10/10 on board for him to stay dead. That said, I don't mind where they took Maul's story, as he was never hyped as a total badass for just standing there and looking mean, but rather just a SW flavored Sisyphus. Constantly pushing his rock up that mountain.

Jokingly, at least Maul did something. He straight murdered Qui Gon. He wasn't just there to look mean and go out like a punk. Maul was there to look mean, gank a Jedi, and then go out like a punk.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a Boba Fett fanboy. He's...fine.

But people forget that Darth Vader had to hire him and a mess of other bounty hunters to do something he could not: track the Millenium Falcon. And of those bounty hunters, not only was Boba the only one to actually succeed, he immediately and accurately predicted how Han would evade the Empire, figured out where he was going, and got himself and the Empire there before Han and company, and all with the good guys being none the wiser.

The main reason we have mandalorian show is that boba fett costume in Empire, might as well tip the hat. In Empire he is pretty much all he needed to be, a evil cool looking dude with a fancy ship that outsmarts Solo's trick and delivers him to Vader and then Jabba. A cool side character that makes a cool action figure. Then for some reasons he is given a pretty lame "death" in Jedi, but nostalgia about the best movie in the series is strong.

Granted the fan service boba action montage was a little much, but hey if they give him the axe in the seasons finale (leaving slave 1 to mando since he got no ship now) as I'm predicting then at least he might get a cooler end this time around.

I did squee when gideon launched the dark troopers though. God I love the Kyle katarn games 😋

Well said. Boba was cool(not TEH BESTESTEST CHARACTER LIEK EVAR or anything, but cool) because he outwitted Han Solo at the special request of Darth Vader, and he did it with a badass looking outfit and a couple of really memorable lines. Sure, they overegged the pudding with the EU stuff about him, but they did that with all the OT characters to one degree or another.

Also, that comparison to Maul bears further examination, because I suspect people are comparing the two with the benefit of hindsight having already seen everything that came after Maul was brought back. I can't speak to the overall reaction, but basically everyone I know who was into Star Wars thought Maul returning was trash when it initially happened, it was treated as a bad joke. It was only after several really good Clone Wars arcs that minds were changed, and some kept a hold of their dislike right up until his "proper" finale episode in Rebels. We've no idea where they're going to take this "resurrection", but IMO they're off to a better start than with Maul who had a much more final-appearing "death" he had to come back from(making it less plausible) and did come back in a really silly way(Half Man. Half Mechaspider. ALL RAGE! 😆 ).

Also we're assuming that what we were seeing in the last episode was all straight-up and on the level. He could be playing Mando. He could be working for Gideon even(telling Mando to take off his jetpack was certainly unhelpful...). The Chain Code stuff could be fake(though I hope it isn't), or the references to Jaster and the Civil War could be meant to foreshadow Boba & Mando/Bo-Katan coming to blows in future(since in that comic Jango was in the faction fight against the Deathwatch, and both the other Mandalorians on the show have pretty strong ties to them). But TBH, I don't even mind if his job is literally just to show up, stove in some Bucketheads with his gaffi stick, and then give Mando a ride somewhere - it might be fanservice, but frankly Star Wars as a brand could stand doing a fair bit more fanservice to make up for the last few years.

Also the whole "Boba Fat" thing is a meme, it was the outfit, unless Morrison put on a belly right before filming and lost it again soon afterwards.

Spoiler cause of what Slave I is doing

I kind of hope Boba doesn't get a miniseries, or too much screen time in The Mandalorian. He (and his dad) worked best as a side character.

More than that, he is an iconic character from the OT. Filoni and Favreau have done a great job reuniting the fan base around their new star wars media and characters, but every time they use an iconic OT character, they risk all that good will.

That being said, Temura Morrison is a badass actor, it would be cool if Boba stuck around as a side character that would cross paths with Mando once a season or so. Maybe even get him involved in the Mandalorian resistance with Bo Katan.

I'd potentially be down for an Old Clones limited series. One episode is an Old Boba episode. Another is an Old Rex. Maybe we get an Old Cody in there as well.
