Does he earn any Duty, or are we just not going to bother with it? I'm fine with the latter option, treating his Duty as a variation on Motivation (sorta like how Morality is).

How about you agree to work something in every planet and after every planet, i.e. the same time I do +1d10 morality you do +10 duty (there's only one clone PC at the moment and you're starting from 0 rather than 50)... that will kind of make up for the difference in rank. Every time you hit 100 you get promoted 1 rank (is it captain, Lieutenant commander, commander or is there stuff in between?)

Or we could put you to 50 duty now and then increase by 5 each planet? What would you want to do)

I think it's airforce ranks with colonel replaced by commander so ranks are

Lieutenant (second then first, we'll assume your first), major, captain, lieutenant commander, commander

Captain, Commander, Marshal Commander.

Yeah, that sounds okay, but practically, Camo isn't going to go any farther than Captain (filling the Rex role). I'd suggest handling promotion more narratively (though perhaps pinning it to a certain Duty/Contribution threshold).

I think it'd make sense to involve his Duty to a greater extent. So maybe base of 5, +5 or 10 if you think he sufficiently triggered his Duty? Or base of 0, +10 or 15?
It think starting from X and adding an average of +10 makes the most sense.

I've had a couple ideas for alternate methods of handling Duty, so here's the most relevant:

Quote

Instead of gaining Duty and dealing with Contribution ranks, everyone has a single Duty value that only changes temporarily, based on the nature of the mission:

  • 2 players: 20 (30) Duty
  • 3 players: 15 (20) Duty
  • 4-5 players: 10 (15) Duty
  • 6+ players: 5 (10) Duty
  • Total: ~40 (~60) Duty

Most likely, at least one Duty will be applicable to the mission at hand, so the chance of triggering will most often be either ~50% or ~70%. I suggest that you go with the total of around 40, but perhaps you decide to graduate the PCs to ~60 after a while. It all depends on how often you want their Duty triggering

For each mission, assign a "nature" like I suggest for RAW (i.e. "Combat Victory"). Each PC that has that Duty doubles their Duty value before the Duty Check, making it more likely that their Duty will trigger. (think of it like this: PC has the Duty Combat Victory. This mission calls for storming an Imperial shield generator so that they can get air support. Since this player has been through this wringer before, they know the ropes and are more confident, bolstering the rest of the team as well with their "been there, done that" attitude)
As for getting gear/credits, just give them some stuff every so often. Be that new gear they need for a mission that they then get to keep, or rewards for completing certain missions or arcs. Credits are the most versatile reward, and are easier to narratively justify.

With 1 player, change it to 50. Then +10 if a particular mission matches his Duty. Ignore Contribution and addition.

I'd rather avoid rolling to see if it triggers and just have you work sabotage in at every opportunity and hand out duty more like morality.

Okay.

Just ran across a combo while reading specializations that could be fun (in the future) to try.

Consular: Ascetic (working toward Iron Soul) + Warrior: Steel Hand Adept

Not sure what to pair the combo with to get more ranks in Parry, but thought it was neat to think about.

Colossus (Warrior) and Martial Artist (Bounty Hunter).

Plus Doctor (Colonist), mainly for the Pressure Point talent.

It's better to go warrior steelhand adept first so you can get the unmatched ferocity signature ability

@SuperWookie , you'll need to put zeros in the "Current" boxes for WT and ST, otherwise it'll return an error message when you try to use the +/- buttons.

Having completely run out of ideas...

*Tying @EliasWindrider to the Fonz's jet ski just in time for his most famous stunt while @Bellona , @MrTInce , @RuusMarev , and @SuperWookie wait in a nearby rowboat with pool nets, ready to retrieve the precious XP that will fall out of our beloved GM's pockets.*

* After liberally spraying him down with shark repellent so it doesn't count as quote "endangering the GM" en quote.*

Awww... I was going to safely strap our beloved GM in a safety harness and sit him down on the tail ramp of a LAAT/I, his feet dangling from the edge as the clone pilot flies along above the treetops.. (I can assure you all that I've had the opportunity with a more primitive cousin, and its awesome!)

Next week, maybe? :)

Perhaps :)

I am not sure what this means, but I am always a fan of safely farming XP

@Bellona @MrTInce @P-47 Thunderbolt @RuusMarev @SuperWookie get 6 xp

An extra xp for each PC falls out of my pocket if I'm safely shaken. It started with @Bellona gently poking me to remind me to dispense weekly xp and I responded by saying 1 extra xp fell out of my pocket for her, then @P-47 Thunderbolt held me upside down by my ankles and an extra xp fell out for everyone... it devolved/evolved into a weekly ritual where I get shown exotic and scary but not actually dangerous situations (virtually mind you) each week in exchange for an extra point of xp each.

Have taken a rank of conditioned from the hermit tree for 15 XP.

Just for S&Gs, I am creating an FFG version of Chee'Okee's master from when I ran my D20 game. He was the Grand Master of the Jedi Council, and almost a polar opposite of her (starting with Warrior: Colossus if that tells you anything).

Being able to see all of the extra specializations on the wiki page really helps (since I don't have many of the books). I foresee a lot of my free time in the near-future as being spent updating characters.

Oggdude's program is also a help, although it doesn't officially include Collapse of the Republic and Dawn of Rebellion (nor the "anthology" sourcebooks like Gadgets and Gear , etc.) yet.

How many times can you get the same talent? Is there a hard limit? I noticed Durable showing up quite a bit in the Warrior trees, and was wondering how you would even kill a Colossus if they can ignore all of the crits.

No limit if it's a ranked talent.

SuperWookie finds himself in a desert, the only landmarks in sight being large plateus with craggy outcroppings of rock formations. He approaches the formations and fishes around between the rocks to try and find @EliasWindrider . Grabbing onto something that is hopefully the GM, SuperWookie pulls it out and shakes it around, hoping to get enough XP to survive the inhospitable climate he finds himself in. Hopefully there is enough XP left over to bring back to his friends at camp, as they are barely holding on to dear life.

Unrelated to practically everything - Does anyone know what book the Padawan/Knight classes are in?

Rise of the Separatists (the first of the two Clone Wars era sourcebooks).
