Lat year I decided to create a real life Talisman theme in my Garden (as its very long) . I have a winding path with 2nd edition designs I painted on slates and then varnished, Areas include a "Closed Shop" "Pool of Life" and "Dungeon Doorway" dotted around the garden in appropriate places. Heres my own Tavern using the 2nd edition design.

A nice cool place to stop for a refreshing ale whilst gardning.

As usual brilliant

Ordered the last 3 to bring me back up to date, now only to paint them....

But yes if your are taking suggestions or ideas to brain storm, then The Warlocks Cave would be really really really great if it somehow incorporated a slot for the Quest Reward Cards to sit in - like a business card holder sort of look, rather then flat on the board, raised and maybe a small angle so cards lay back on it, it could be the back side of the cave facing in towards the valley of fire. Sightly wider to cover sleeves if used (i use them).

Im just saying... you know... it may be great...

Thanks Will, The Warlocks cave will happen and I like the quest rewards slot idea, I'll be sure to build it in

Awesome work Kate! They look great and I love the themed Talisman garden :).

With the arrival of the new printer I thought I'd throw the ultimate test at it, the dreaded 28mm mini! I've beefed up the exorcist sculpt and refined the proportions for better legibility at scale.

I've printed it in 2 pieces, the base and the figure, this allows for easy removal of all the support structures. I designed pegs into the feet that slot into corresponding holes in the base.. I think I can still do a bit more refining to improve the print still but it could be worth trying to mould and cast this chap, I bought a kit before xmas and it's goading me....

Fab! Much, much better. How does it compare next to a standard soft plastic mini?

Yeah I think so Jon, here he is with an original char. Still see print lines but I think a lot of that stuff will disappear under paint.

How about a slight acetone spray (or whatever people use). I know it will lose detail, but you never know. It'll still have more detail than the originals.

Unfortunately acetone doesn't work with PLA , that works on ABS plastic. There isn't a decent way of smoothing PLA as of yet.

PLA is nicer to work with than ABS, it doesn't give of toxic fumes like ABS, has a lower melting point and so is easier to print, it's cheaper and it's a vegetable based plastic and so it's more environmentally friendly :-)

Are there any specialist primers then?

Filler primer, but you run the risk of losing detail. I'm gonna see what it's like with some paint on it.

The Exorcist model looks great! Just curious on a couple of points.

1. The picture shows the Exorcist with a mustache, but the model has a full beard.

2. The cross is held by a rope in picture, but you placed the cross in his hand

I'm curious why you made those design choices. Regardless, it looks amazing and would welcome an opportunity to add it to my collection. Personally I think the cross in hand looks better.

I assume that this is your model and Creative Liscenese as an artist and/or IP variance. But could be that it making that rope and beard would be in too hard category.

Lastly - what's in hopper for the next terrain piece and miniature?

The Exorcist looks OSSUM! I so want one, along with eleven companion minis ;)

The moustache perhaps isn't very clear in the photographs but it's a bit clearer in the render below.

The reason he's holding the cross is because the rope would be too fine to print and it would just break off. Even if I got it printed it would probably break during the moulding process when I cast it. So it was a practical design decision really.

Next up is the Temple! I'll hopefully get started on it next week.

Busy Week at Spare Oom...

If you keep making this many you'll have no spare oom left.

Tell me about it, more shelving is on the way....

Looking forward to seeing more of your designs.

CHapel looks lovely like all pieces. i will order it, as i said, together with the Graveyard and the Castle. Graveyard is the most impoprtant place for the evil characters and their start location (not that i ever Play one) . Ghul arises from his tombstone. Castle is the connection to medieval knight Sagas, which have been more alive at Talisman release Tme than today. (no goal to be brave, tough and honorful in times of pornorised medias).. Prince and Princess, yes, Talisman is a relict of good old times.

i had contact with the Talisman 3d board builder years ago. He spend about a thousand for it and it took him half a year to build it. He contacted me for rules question about magicrealm, the avalon hill game from 1978. (which has also a chapel, graveyard, tavern, guard and a house nstead of the village), definitely Talisman was inspired from it.

I may have missed this up thread, but Slev makes an interesting point. We know your hard at work making the terrain and experimentating with the unpublished characters.

All great, but another idea is if you considered making figures for some of the cards? Like companions - the guide, the unicorn, pack mule, horse, cart, pixie, prince, princess.

Though what also might be cool is making figures of the strangers that give you spells, or perhaps the fountain, where you can place fate or life tokens in the mini similar to what your thinking of for the warlock.

Those are all great ideas. If you guys can wait it's all stuff I can add to the "to do" list :)

Well, that is a point, but That was not one I intended to raise!

this is exactly what i fear : stupid, lazy People come here and post their incapability to use Google and bring leavon away from his unique production of board miniatures. using the board miniatures as token and Card holder makes them unujsable for other games and look kiddish. i say goodbye to this foruim, i am not in the Age of a kindergarden and it is a pity when grown up people can not differentiate between Kids and adults in the Internet anymore.

1) Your name-calling could be considered "The age of kindergarten."

2) Leavon has stated in one of his earlier post on the first page of this thread that he was working on miniatures as well.

3) Unless Leavon is on your payroll he has the right to create anything that he'd like.

4) You should appreciate what Leavon created already instead of blasting people that dare have a different opinion than you.

It just seems like we can't have anything nice because there's always someone around to spoil it unnecessarily.

Leavon and everyone else: Sorry for the rant, it's just that I was taken aback by the sheer audacity of magicrealms's post.

You guide Leavon away from working on the unique boardminiatures, which do not exist in any way worldwide, by pushing him to make figures that can be bought at any miniatures Company and, in case of character models, are included in Talisman already. tell me anyone who played with all 60 existing charactermodels so much that he get bored from every one of the 60. There are dozens of models in descent 2 and countless in game miniature compoanies. But there are no boardminiaturers worldwide. Plus there are no charactercards included for the models.

his exorcist is a good looking model, but reaper miniatures made this model, exactly this, already 15 years ago by Sandra Garrity. check the catalogue.

it is not necessary to invent the wheel again, it is not necessary to cry for some chocolate here and for some Bonbons there, but it is necessary to make unique, never made items, which do not exist anywhere else.

i wish Leavon would have never opened this Forum and just made his work without discussion.

As this forum will be closing very shortly, how about it gets left on a positive note, being adult and no more petty name calling. Thanks for all the great work Leavon, look forward to seeing much more of it (whatever YOU decide to produce). You contributions have enriched and enhanced our game.

I didn't realise this forum was closing, I had been posting on BGG as well but had dropped off as late as it hasn't been as interactive as the FFG forum. When this one closes I'll update on BGG more regularly and of course there's the Facebook feed as well.

Thanks for your continued support folks, I really enjoy "most" of your contributions. I had been struck by what a friendly community this is compared to other forums and it would be nice to keep it that way, there's enough unpleasantness in the real world these days.
