3D printed Talisman miniatures/Terrain

By Leavon, in Talisman

...and very nice they look too :)

You could make two Caves, one vanilla as it is and one as a card holder or whatever.

Òn which bbg Forum are you active ?

What better place for a questing adventurer to visit than the Warlocks Cave? The cave is furnished with a stone staircase to gain access to the upper sun terrace. The ample cave entrance is adorned with a shingle floor, a variety of stalactites and affords spectacular views of the City and surrounding fields.

This delightful property is on the market now at www.spareoomstudio.co.uk/online-store

Standard response! :)

Very nice Leavon. I think I will have to cave in and buy this.

Any chance you could pop it in the same box as the Temple I ordered? (should save on the p+p)

Just saw that in the nick of time, I was just off to the post office :)

Not a problem, I'll get it packed in the same box and refund the shipping on the order.

Your a star. Thank you so much.

Order placed, so what's next on the talisman mystery tour?

Thanks Roger! We'll be going down to the woods next.... having lots of fun with this one :)

Ooooh. Will there be a teddy bear's picnic?

I doubt the teddy bears will make it into the forest if they have a wicker basket full of food.

Knowing the Talisman world they'll be hampered all the way.

Woods? you mean cursed glade ? so you stick with the four Corners ?

Yep, heres' a quick preview....

Insert drool here ?

Good news is that the Cursed Glade is shaping up well in the test print!

Bad news is the tree tops are huuuuge! And take over 11 hours to print..... some revision is needed. Think it's gonna be a pretty cool piece though.

So you can see here what I mean about the size of the tree tops. I think overall the base and trunks needs to come down in scale by about 5mm and I'm taking some of the volume out of the tree tops which will hopefully bring down the print time and the quantity of PLA used.

It's currently coming in at around 15 hours for the whole thing which will make it too pricey I think.

Anyway, I hope you like how it's shaping up.

Is it mostly hollow?

Most 3D printed stuff has to have some sort of interior structure to give it strength. So it has a grid like interior. One of the reasons this one takes so long is because the tree top has a continually undulating surface and a lot of surface area. if you imagine printing a straight line and then printing a wavey line then the wavey line will take longer to print as the print head has to travel further. Same prinicpal here.

I'm going to try and print it as one piece, that will save some time and material.

Hmmm... fingers crossed, though it may just have to be your loss leader...

Fantastic, Ilove the tentacle coming out the water.

Only if a drowsey Johnny Depp and a headless horseman are present

Can we pay in instalments then and still have the high quality version

man, these giant earthworms in the trees are haunting...

Ahh Johnny Depp was soooo fainty in that film.

Worry not, I've managed to optimise the mesh, got print time down to 9 hours and no loss of quality :)

I've heard rumours that banks are planning to offer mortgages for the final Talisman model bundle ;)

Hehehe, they're actually a tentacle monster, his eyes are in the foliage. I'm gonna paint this one ASAP to make it clear what everything is.

In order to pay in instalments you wood have to take the nearest trunk road into town, root out your local branch (Barkleys perhaps), spruce yourself up by wearing a fir coat, pine at the bank manager and ask for a share in a hedge fund.

If your poplar enough he may oblige but only if he doesn't take you for a sap and twig what your up to.

:)
