IT TIS...

I always wondered why the Empire refit dropped the side guns. The current version looks so underarmed compared to the CW version.

i freakin love that R-Type model. I played the hell out of that game as a kid. Wonder if anyone would recognize it if i tried to make that.

And finally, here is the painted Arquitens Mk2! I apologize for the sub-par pictures but my photo setup just isn't rated for a massive model like this so I had to improvise.

About 50 cm long, 19 cm wide and 10 cm high. It was actually supposed to be 20 cm wide but apparently I made an error somewhere.

Go Mac GOooo... !!!

:D

Totally badass

Most impressive!

:D

Good god, this thread is incredible. I've got to think of a paint scheme to commission you to do!

Set up a photo with a TIE/ln, Decimator, Raider, a banana, and the Kitten, just for scale.

Impressive Job Ken.

Excellent execution.......very tidy build !

Well done.

So whats next on the table ?

All the best,

Barry.

Maybe in favor of fewer more powerfull guns.

As allways great models Macross! :)

The next project is something completely new for me; building new/additional parts for an old toy. While I'm certain you guys would appreciate the build progress I'm not so sure it would be appropriate since it isn't Star Wars related.

Wow, that's actually in scale with the 3D printed Pelta I bought not too long ago. I might have to throw my discretionary saving into double-overdrive....

My guess is the naval doctrine changed. Per the design sheet from the data banks page on the episode they first appear in for rebels, those guns got replaced by escape pods. Suggesting an emphasis on survivability over firepower.

During the clone wars they were mostly crewed by clones and deployed as part of larger fleets. Clones were seen as semi expendable, and there was a big need for lots of laser cannons to counter the swarms of vulture droids. And they appear to have almost no antiship firepower.

During the empire, they are now crewed by non-clones, and used as independent patrol vessels or the flagships of gozanti/transport flotillas. Thus more survivability focused features, and probably more troop and boarding party support systems. They also now have antiship guns in those turrets, so probably their power systems got changed around too. Instead of anti fighter focus, they are now more generalist. Since there are fewer enemies with large swarms of weak fighters. Most smugglers mostly have small to medium transports, and small numbers of more durable fighters. Same for the rebellion at the time.

I leave for a few months and everything goes to hell in my absence. Time to straighten things up! If at all possible I'm going to replace all the picture links in this entire thread. Anyone know a better image hosting server instead of Photobucket?

Anyway, I'm back with a new project! Another prototype B-wing! Well to tell the truth, you have actually already seen this B-wing, but one of the wingtip guns broke so it had to come back for repairs. The gun proved to be unsalvageable so instead I manufactured a new pair of guns.

*Edit* Maybe now the pictures will work properly.

Link updates

http://imgur.com/ is what I use.

I'm plan on rehosting all of my old pictures on imgur, but I'm using instagram going forward. I like how I can make an album and link just a single picture.

I switched to imugr as well. So far so good.

Google drive + direct link generator. Works like a charm.

Yah, IMGUR.

But Instagram or Google Drive will also do.

Blogger stores all of its images on the Google albums folder. I've had no problems posting images hosted there to this forum. (such as the C70, etc)

I can most certainly access all pictures when I use blogger, but only seven or eight (plus a few unwanted animations) of hundreds are available through Google Photos. Still, it might be a good idea to use the Google service, after all I already got an account so why not use it.

*Edit* Actually just found exactly where to go to find the photos. First Google Drive, THEN Google Photos, not Google Photos immediately. Strange that the same thing takes me to different places.

*Another edit* How the *bleep* do I attach the images from Google Photos? I can get a link but it can't be inserted here, the damned thing just refuse to accept it.

*Final edit?* It seems I have to create a 'share' link, then 'convert' it using Google Drive Direct Link Generator and then insert that link here. Tedious but it seems to work. If anyone knows a better method then please do share it with me.
