How large are the groups?

Depends how quickly you get to them, the longer it takes the larger they will be as they have time to fortify/reinforce their defensive positions. Composition also depends on when

" I'm fine General ," Condor replied to Mireska's question. The stimpack had done it's job, and if it weren't for the new blaster burn on his armor, he'd question whether or not he'd actually been shot. He still wasn't certain which of the two Jedi were in charge, but he expected one of them would answer. He didn't just like waiting here in the hallway. " What are your orders General? More Clankers will be on us soon if we don't get moving. "

"As soon as Ker'see is ready to move," Mireska answers. She looks questioningly at Ker'see.

"We need to move quick before they can mount a true defense," commands Ker'see. "We hit hard and don't stop moving. You see a droid you shoot!"

The jedi sharpshooter takes her grenade launcher and heads to the next door.

"Don't forget to take cover as needed!"

Mireska and her short squad follow.

" You heard the general Balyeg. Move out! " The squad of Commandos came together quickly, Titan taking point with his large shield, the other's stacking up behind him. Condor himself took up the rear, watching their flank as they moved through the halls, making sure they weren't flanked.

The Jedi and clones hustle towards the first choke point Ker'see saw, but had to slow down due to the heavy gear they were hauling, they arrive to see that a b1 battle droids had taken up a defensive position (read as add 2 black) and were pointing their blasters down the nearly open hallway at the jedi and clones. The exception to nearly is that along the walls there are occasional bits of cover (add 1 black) from girders slightly protruding into the hall.

Meanwhile the still cloaked Corvette passes through the magnetic field separating the black vacuum of open space from the well lit breathable atmosphere. The b1 battle droids are visually displaying confusion, the pressure gauge sensors indicate that something large has entered the hanger but they can't see it. The droids are arguing with each other over the odds of the pressure gauge malfunctioning while the amber alarm and claxon screeches it's warning

--------------------------

Hands clasped on the top of the pilots seat, Captain Wraith took in the view through the cockpit's forward windows, witnessing the chaos unfolding before them. Although their ship was cloaked, the Invincible's pressure alarms sounded, confounding the droids assigned to guard the yawning hangar bay. One group of B1s argued with each other, a super battle droid violently pushing its way through them. " Right on target, brother ," Wraith said, patting the pilot on the shoulder, " as soon as we're boots down, dust off and get out of here. "

" Yessir ," the pilot responded, gesturing towards the droids, who seemed more intent on arguing with each other than investigating the alarm. " Those clankers will never know what hit them ."

" Oh, they'll know ," came Scrap's unmistakable voice from behind Wraith and the pilots. " They'll know, alright ."

Turning to meet Scrap's helmeted gaze, exiting the cockpit and walking back towards their men, Wraith spoke, " Time to scrap us some clankers ."

" Copy that. "

-----------------------------

Standing alongside his fellow clones at the ship's boarding ramp, Wraith grabbed his blaster rifle, instinctively checking its charge and turned towards the men of Alpha and Beta squads; turned towards his brothers. They stood in two orderly lines in the cramped space, checking their own blasters and double checking each others armor and equipment. They were ready.

" You know the objective ," he said, speaking up and walking between them, " You know the stakes. We either take this ship or blow it to ****. "

" My kind of party, " comes Det's response as Wraith passes him.

Wraith smiles behind his helmet as his other men holler their own approval. " T hat's what I like to hear. Everyone ready, Sergeant?"

"Yessir, always."

Taking his place at the front of the ship's main ramp beside Sergeant Scrap, Wraith breathes deeply, centering himself before turning back to his men. " Well then, lets go scrap us clankers, " he exclaimed, raising his blaster rifle to the ready position and turning towards the exit, " It's time, pop the hatch."

With a clank and a whir, the ramp descended smoothly, into the vast hangar, the groups of droids oblivious to the clone troopers fanning out into the bay, their rifles trained on their metallic adversaries.

Taking point, Wraith aims his blaster rifle at a group of super battle droids and pulls the trigger, his weapon spitting bolts of deadly plasma at the unaware droids.

As Ker'see sights the first groups of droids she stop behind some cover and carefully fired a blast at a group. It takes them all. Seeing more battle droids she readies her lightsabre to defend herself.

As Ker'see led the assault against the next group of droids, another grenade tearing through their ranks, Condor and the rest of Balyeg opened fire with their blasters. "Cover! Cover!" Condor ordered, and the commandos quickly took up positions along the walls, making themselves smaller targets as their hasty shots took down a couple of the droids.

"Take cover and autofire shoot!" Mireska orders her short squad.

Binary, Rain, Storm, and Cloud do so, destroying one B1 and severely damaging another. Unfortunately, when ducking back down they get entangled with each other and fall prone. This certainly is not Green Squad's proudest moment, and if their two other squad mates ever hear about this then the ribbing will be merciless.

Mireska sighs, then attempts to call upon the Force to protect herself. The cold, uncaring atmosphere of MACHINE which saturates the ship bears down on her, disrupting her focus. Mentally cursing her distraction, she readies her lightsabre and shield to reflect incoming attacks.

For the Republic! she thinks grimly to herself. And feels the Force brighten momentarily around her.

However: her Will of the Force talent is used to convert one DS destiny point to one LS destiny point (due to the failed Discipline skill check), and then that LS destiny point is immediately used to upgrade the difficulty of the next incoming attack.

(Basically, one DS token is flipped to the LS and then back again to DS.)

Mireska uses her lightsabre to re-direct some of the droids' blasts back at one particular grouping, destroying one B1 droid by this method. The distraction of receiving their own re-directed fire and losing one of their number to it confuses that group's programming, causing small logic loops and making them momentarily less effective.

Droids' attack on Mireska with 12 damage, 5 Threats:

Reflect rank 2 used on the incoming damage ... 12 - 4 = 8. Soak 4 used on that damage ... 8 - 4 = 4.

Final result = 4 Wounds taken (to be added to the 3 Wounds from the first combat), 3 Strain suffered.

3 Threats: Improved Reflect used on the droids' attacks, inflicting 12 damage on them (enough to remove 1 droid).

2 Threats: I suggest that that particular group suffers +1 Setback on their next action.

Mireska calls upon the Force. A teal-blue light shines briefly from her wounds before they close up, leaving only the blood spatters and blaster burns to show where she'd been hurt, and she takes a deep breath in relief.

Once more into the breach . She readies both lightsabre and shield.

Heal power on herself, w. upgrades : 4eF 1 Light Side, 3 Dark Side

1 LS pip used. Up to 8 Wounds healed (Intellect 4 + Medicine 4), up to 8 Strain removed.

Mireska is now completely healed and is suffering no Strain. This counts as the first of her 5 daily stimpack/Heal uses.

Condor leaned out from cover to fire at the droids, only to take a shot to the hand. Dropping his blaster, it skidded across the floor just out of reach of his cover, and he huddled behind the grating clutching at his hand as he waited for the burning pain to subside.

**** clankers, ” he muttered, shaking his hand up and down. A look at his armor showed the blaster bolt had just grazed him, but he could honestly say he’d grown tired of being shot today. “ Titan! Give me some cover! ” The Commando quickly crossed over at the order with his large shield, soaking up a few blaster shots as he fitted himself and the shield up against Condors cover, giving them some added protection.

On my mark ,” Condor said, and Titan nodded, readying himself. Condor took a deep breath, and positioned himself by the spot between the cover and shield, and gave the order. The second Titan moved to left, Condor began to fire his blasters as fast as he could pull the triggers, lasers streaming through the small gap and dropping several of the droids, before he ceased his fire as Titan moved back in to close the gap.

Taking the grenade launcher in hand Ker'see aims at another group of droids and fires. The ionized cylinder crashes into the barrier instead of the droids and only spills some of the payload onto the enemy. The droids are forced to scatter from their position leaving some in their number to succumb to the grenade.

Mireska's clone troopers sort themselves out from their undignified positions. Deciding to take advantage of the new position, they shoot (using autofire) at the largest group of droids that they can see from their prone position behind cover. They destroy one droid and damage another, but in their high-fiving enthusiasm afterwards the CTs get a bit too far back into their cover and will find it a bit awkward the next time that they shoot.

I guess that it's either incidental* or manoeuvre to change their status from "having fallen prone" to "choosing to shoot from the prone position on purpose". Regardless, anyone using a ranged attack on them will suffer 2 Setbacks (Ranged Defence 1 from having taken cover, +1 Setback from presenting an even smaller target due to their prone position).

Mireska's 4 CTs shoot droids (autofire) : 3eP+3eD+2eS 3 successes, 2 threat
p-s-s.png p-s.png p-s.png d-th.png d--.png d-f.png s--.png s-th.png

Result: 9 (weapon damage) + 3 (successes) = 12 - 3 (Soak 4 - Pierce 1) = 9 damage to the largest remaining minion group.

... Would that be one B1 droid destroyed and 2 damage (taking the Soak and Pierce into account) rolled over to the next droid?

2 Threats: maybe the CTs suffer +1 Setback on their next action?

* It it's an incidental, then they could have used the Aim manoeuvre to add +1 Boost:

M's CTs: possible missing +1 Boost : 1eB 1 success
b-s.png

That would make the final damage 10, destroying one B1 and 3 damage (taking the Soak and Pierce into account) rolling over.

One of the remaining droids shouts seal the blast doors and lay down cover fire, don't let them through don't let them through.

the other droids follow the order, and blaster fire pours out the narrowing aperture the droids were taking cover behind. There's a loud clang and then relevant quiet as the clones cease fire. The hum of Mireska's lightsaber sounds louder and more ominous though.

In Mireska's experience, lightsabres sounding louder than normal is not a good thing. She flicks off her lighsabre for a moment to make sure that it's not overheating or something equally catastrophic.

The loud ominous hum continues. Without the hum of the sabers partially masking it, it sounds like something or somethings large and metallic is/are rolling towards you at high speed. (any pc can shout "destroyers"/droideekas)

"That's not good." Mireska casts a quick glance around to evaluate the rest of the party. "Lieutenant Condor, I'm sure that you have some sound tactical advice for everyone. Please pass it on while I take care of that hand of yours. While I'm sure that your medic is skilled, he's better at shooting things than I am."

She doesn't stop to hear his reply, but instead tears open her physician's kit and applies the speediest form of first aid that she can. When she's done, she puts away the kit, readies both lightsabre and shield in preparation for the attacks to come, and looks around for cover.

Drop lightsabre (incidental), flick off shield (incidental), Quick Draw the physician's kit (incidental), apply first aid (action), stow physician's kit (manoeuvre), retrieve lightsabre via magnetic weapon tether (incidental), flick on shield (incidental).

Mireska's Medicine (first aid) on Condor w. Phys.kit : 4eP+1eB+1eD 5 successes, 2 advantage
p-s-s.png p-s.png p-s-a.png p-s-a.png b-s-a.png d-f-th.png

Dice result: 5 Successes, 3 Advantages (2 + 1 from the Physician's kit) ...

Wounds removed from Condor: 9 (4 ranks Surgeon + 5 Successes). Better to have overkill here than not do enough!

Strain removed from Condor: 4 (2 ranks Physician + 2 Advantages).

Final advantage ... can Mireska use it to notice an important detail as she packs away her kit and gets ready? If "the location of a blast door's control panel" (quoted right from the FaD CRB!) is a little too much, then she'll just pass a +1 Boost along to the next active allied character's check.

Copy That General, ” Condor said, quickly grabbing his fallen blaster off the ground and putting it away. He’d seen the damage droidekas could cause during his assault on one of the geonosian factories. He’d had an AT-TE then, and they’d still been deadly to more then a few clones.

Alright troopers! Get into cover and stay low! As soon as they’re in range, give them everything you’ve got. Once that shield projector comes up, your blaster fire is going to be nearly useless. ” He neglected to mention that if the destroyer droids managed to get a line of sight on any of them, it was likely they’d be torn to shreds in moments.

Generals, once those droidekas have their shields up, your lightsabers are our best shot. They won’t be able to move without deactivating them, and if you get in close their guns will be next to worthless. Just watch those legs of theirs.

"Where's Elsee? The blast door control panel is right here, but I suspect that it'll need a good slicer before they'll open."

Just in case, I'd better get a structural read-out on those blast doors. We may end up having to blast our way through them. Mireska pulls out the structural scanner that she'd borrowed earlier from the Negotiator's engineering department, and quickly scans the blast doors and the area around them. Thank the Force I spent those hours cramming for something like this before we came over here!

Scan complete, she stows the scanner and readies both shield and lightsabre for any incoming attacks.

"Binary, would you slide one of your shaped charges over to me, please?"

The clone trooper does so before taking cover with the rest of his short squad, and Mireska is already thinking of how best to apply two shaped charges in order to get through the blast doors. The doors themselves? Or maybe just to one side ...?

Incidentals: turn off shield, turn off/drop lightsabre, Quick Draw structural scanner.

Action: use structural scanner.

Using structrual scanner on blast doors/area around them : 4eA+2eD 2 successes, 1 advantage
a-a.png a-s-s.png a-a.png a-s-s.png d-th.png d-f-f.png

1 Success to ... well ... succeed.

+1 Success would normally speed up the process, but I don't see how it can be quicker than one action.

1 Advantage to uncover additional information ... ?

Basically, would the results give Mireska a +1 Boost to a Mechanics check to set up the shaped charges?

Manoeuvre: stow structural scanner.

Incidentals: turn on shield, magnetic retrieval of/turn on lightsabre.

Edited by Bellona
Question re scan result. Also spelling/grammar.

"We need those doors sliced open! We've two droidekas inbound with more incoming!" barks Ker'see and turning to the sounds of the droids rolling.
