The edge of the Empire is still the Empire- a circumstance the denizens of the far reaches occasionally require a forceful reminder of.

This is an Imperial military-themed pbp, where PCs will be agents, officers and non-coms serving aboard (and deploying from) a small ship in the outer rim. Missions will be a mix of spec ops and more standard operations that are capable of being handled by a small force, cut off from much of the Empire's resources. https://discord.gg/SFU9kw4

I am interested, I would probably want to play an Analyst (from Desperate Allies), although playing a group of Stormtroopers is intriguing, but I would need more information on how it would work.

I do have a question, will we be using duty, obligation, or neither?

Analyst is an awesome spec! I'll be using the Duty mechanic, so select one that relates to your service to the Empire or particular role aboard the ship.

As for the stormtroopers... There will be two full squads attached to the ship. The idea of splitting them into smaller groups, and letting others roll and narrate their actions, has its appeal. But I suppose delegating this responsibility has the potential to slow down the very process minion groups are designed to streamline? While incapacitation will be the general rule, individual troopers may occasionally be red-shirted, regardless of who is running them. If you are truly interested, I might consider letting players run a few stormtroopers along with their PCs.

I'm sticking with the character I've got, though I may tweak a thing or two (thinking of switching my universal spec from Imperial Army Cadet to ship captain). Going for a naval officer, basically.

I'm fine sticking with just a PC to try and streamline things.

For my universal spec I was interested in Imperial Academy Cadet, but I don't have Dawn of Rebellion, so I might just use Recruit from the AoR core book instead.

Recruit is good, but Imp Cadet has some very good Knowledge-based talents that would synergize quite well with Analyst. I have the book and can help you, if you are unable to access the tree by other means.

@btmaja Need some write-ups on your sheet! Add Duty, and don't forget the+30 XP after creation. Equipment is mostly issued. Use starting credits for what you like, and you can submit an additional personal item for consideration.

@Rabobankrider Don't worry about spending Duty for credits- consider it issued. And don't forget the +30 XP I'm allotting for "Academy-level play" (even dropouts like Luks)! Also, you'll be in a Special Commando Advanced Recon squad. Do you see your guy as Squad leader, or just a weapon Sergeant?

@Edgehawk , ah great, I'll readjust accordingly. It should be done by this evening. I mainly see Den as a weapons sergeant, with all the officers and such I think it makes sense for him to bring the muscle where needed.

That would be appropriate. Briar can start with a few (single-use) dataspikes, in addition to the bureau's version of slicing gear.

@Edgehawk In regard to Den's question what does Briar know about the assignment?

Not much yet. You'll be part of a small task force, joining a ship in the Outer Rim. Whatever it is, it is important if you are being summoned to the executive building.

edit: regarding the suicide squad comment, Briar knows Luks will be joining the Special Commando Advanced Recon unit already stationed there. @Imperial Stormtrooper

Sure!

As for niche, any AoR or EotE spec you can see in Imperial service- just try not to duplicate any of the existing PCs too closely (same career is probably fine, but I'd prefer not same spec).

Also, pick an appropriate universal spec up for free, then take an additional +30 XP post-creation. Duty will be in play, and please include some background.
