BattleScribe Updates for Legion!

By Dr Lucky, in Star Wars: Legion

EDIT - Just an FYI, I've turned this post into sort of a subscription thread about BattleScribe updates. The original OP (below) was very specific to the point in time when I posted it, but my most recent post should usually be a helpful update about the state of the files.

-----

Now that contents of the Core Set and release expansions have been fully spoiled, along with all the relevant sections of the Learn to Play book, I've updated the Legion BattleScribe files to account for everything at launch. Update your data and you should have everything.

- I've fixed the names of the various upgrade icons and other game elements (for instance, the icon I had called "Leadership" is actually called "Command").
- I changed the way the Command Hand validates, now that we know 7 cards are required. It will still default to including the 4 generic cards, but the list will flag if you have fewer than seven.
- I marked the cards that will not be available at release as Unreleased with a dagger (†) icon. Right now, that's Veers, Leia, the Snowtroopers, and the Fleet Troopers, plus the various cards that only come in those expansions. I do this so people who want to list-build with everything spoiled can, but people who only want to build lists that can actually be played in OP or tournaments can easily see which cards they can't use (they avoid the sections marked with †).

As always, let me know if you see any typos or have other concerns. Have fun!

Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this.

Thank you! I love battlescribe for list building. Your work shall lead the rebellion to victory!

The BattleScribe files are now up-to-date with all the spoilers from the Han Solo and Rebel Commando announcement articles. Update your data and you'll be good to go.

In addition to adding Han Solo and the Rebel Commandos as units available in the Rebel Catalogue, I did have to deal with some minor things. Specifically:

- I did not make the Rebel Commando Strike Team available yet. Because adding the Strike Team to a list requires selecting a Heavy Weapon upgrade card, there are no currently spoiled Heavy Weapon upgrade cards that are legal on the Strike Team, there was no legal way to add it to a list. Plus, without a Heavy Weapon, the Strike Team really doesn't do anything...
- We didn't get an official name for the new upgrade icon (the chevron icon) shared by Han and the Rebel Commandos. For the time being, I've chosen to call it "Tactics" but I'll update that when we get something official.
- I made a few adjustments to terminology now that the game is officially released. For instance, I had used the terms "Offensive Surge" and "Defensive Surge" but these have now been corrected to "Attack Surge" and "Defense Surge".
- As before, unreleased cards are marked with a dagger (†).

Have fun!

BattleScribe is now up-to-date with all the info from the Veers preview, including his entire set of Command cards. Update your data and you'll be good to go.

Love Battlescribe, great way to share lists on mobile! Thank you for keeping it updated!

The BattleScribe files have been updated again. As usual, update your data in the app to get the latest version. The data files are available at http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/

I've added the last card from the General Veers expansion pack (Environmental Gear). I've also removed the dagger (†) and unreleased status from all the cards that come in the Veers pack (because he's due to release this week).

In addition to the units, I added two new types of Forces to use when creating a roster. In addition to the "Standard" force (1-2 Commanders, 3-6 Corps, 0-3 Special Forces, 0-3 Support, 0-2 Heavy) intended for 800 point games, you can now select a "Grand Army" (1-3 Commanders, 5-10 Corps, 0-5 Special Forces, 0-5 Support, 0-3 Heavy) for your 1600 point games or an "Unlimited" force if you just want to build out a roster with no unit type minimums and maximums besides the requirement of having at least one Commander.

As usual, please let me know if you spot any bugs or typos.

I went ahead and did another quick update to add the Flametrooper from the Snowtrooper preview article. If you update your data, you should have all the contents of the Snowtrooper expansion available.

thank you!

What about the cards spoiled in Crabboks vid? I think there was just one

I'm not sure which video you are talking about. I think the Flametrooper was the last card we needed from the Snowtroopers box. I think everything from Veers and the Snowtroopers should be live now, but if you know of any specific cards that have been spoiled that aren't in the BattleScribe files please let me know.

(Except for the Rebel Commandos: Strike Team - I'm well aware that isn't available. I left it out for now because it requires a Heavy Weapon upgrade and no Rebel Commando Heavy Weapon upgrades have been spoiled, so there would be no legal way to add it to a list. )

Your missing out on “environmental gear” from the vid. Comes with veers: “you gain, unhindered. This unit is not hindered by terrain” or something along those lines. From the veers unboxing

If you don't have Environmental Gear available in your version, it's been a while since you updated your data. That card went up in my 4/22 update. Update your data and you'll have everything.

Love the app so much I’ve supported it a couple times!

saw two things to fix:

in the selection rules, Arsenal should say use up to x of its weapons, not use up to two of its weapons.

For Weak Point, it should say “inside,” not ‘insider.”

thanks for your work on this.

Thanks! I hate it when typos slip through but I'm happy to fix them. I'll fix them this week in the same release where I update the Snowtroopers to remove the dagger marks and Unreleased status.

The files have been updated to add the new content spoiled in yesterday's Leia preview article (really just needed her full set of Command Cards), remove the dagger marks and Unreleased status from the Snowtroopers, and fix a few typos. Update your data and you should be good to go.

And I updated the files again after yesterday's big news!

I implemented the Operative ranks, added Boba Fett and the Scout Troopers, and cleaned up a little bit of miscellaneous stuff (Environmental Gear now modifies it's unit's profile the same way that Grappling Hooks and other upgrades do; when building a Grand Army, the ranks should now display in the same order they do when building a Standard roster; etc).

As usual, just tell BattleScribe to update your data and you'll get all the new stuff. Please let me know if you notice any typos or mistakes.

Once again, the files have been updated. All cards from the Leia Organa expansion and the Fleet Trooper expansion are now implemented. I also removed the unreleased notation and dagger marks (†) from those cards because the official release is this week. Update your data in BattleScribe and you should have everything you need.

I did notice that the battlescribe.appspot.com site where the data is hosted was being a little squirrely today but it seems to be happy now. If you get any errors or suggestions from BattleScribe that the data is missing, you should probably just give it a few hours and try again. However, it is working for me now.

I updated the BattleScribe files yesterday afternoon to add in the two new emplacement units announced. It takes a while for the data to go live once I update but it's up now. Go ahead and update your data (either by using the auto-updater in BattleScribe or going to battlescribedata.appspot.com) and you should have the latest. As usual, content that isn't officially released yet is indicated with dagger marks (†).

Please let me know if you have any trouble or if you spot any typos or other mistakes.

Ran into a slight glitch while adding snowtroopers to an army with atst already in place.

Veers

3x dlt19 squads

1 snow with flame

Atst with all weapons was the list ideas working on.

PM me and we can try to figure out what the problem is. If it is a problem with the data, I can fix it. However, if it is the app itself, I can't fix it but I can let the developer know.

I've updated the BattleScribe data with the info from today's Han Solo preview article. Go into the app and update your data to get the latest.

Love your work :)

Last night, I updated the data with the revealed cards from the Emperor Palpatine and Imperial Royal Guards announcement articles. Because it takes some time for the data website to refresh, it didn't go live until sometime early this morning. It's up now, so go ahead and have BattleScribe update data if you want the new stuff. As usual, let me know if you see any typos or other errors.

On Monday, I updated the data files with the cards from the Rebel Commandos preview. Last night, I updated the files again with the spoiler info from the Chewbacca and Wookiee Warriors expansions that were announced at Gen Con. You may already have some or all of this if you've updated your data recently.

I'll probably do another release tonight. I'm working on adding what I can from the Rebel and Imperial Specialist packs announced, plus I'll update anything from last night's release that is more clear after today's articles on Chewbacca and the Wookiee Warriors (hopefully I can get a better look at Chewie's point cost; I think it's 80 but I'm not positive).

I've got a few other features on my to-do list that I'll hit soon (maybe tonight's update, maybe not). In no particular order:

- I want to add the option to choose your Battle cards. I don't plan to make it automatic like the Command Hand, but for people who want that to print out as part of their list, I want it to be possible. I'm not totally sure how to handle the Deployment cards, as BattleScribe doesn't handle visual information well and they are primarily picture based.

- I want to tag units with their base size. This should be pretty transparent to users, but you would see it in the roster view as part of a unit's categories. This will be helpful in the future if an upgrade is released that is restricted to certain bases sizes. People might also like having that information available to reference if they are brainstorming lists with units they don't yet own.

- I want to add a field to the Command Card descriptions displaying which unit the card is associated with (i.e., who can play it). It's a key peice of info on the card that isn't accessible in BattleScribe at the moment, so I want to fix that.

- Of course I will be adding the Clone Wars factions once we get some concrete info on them, but that's still quite a ways out.

Any other obvious gaps? I'm happy to implement new stuff if it is useful to everyone. As usual, let me know if there are any typos or mistakes.
