Has @Stneu73 earned his new name as 'Clipper' there? :P

That would be @SHADOWGUARD CHAMPION !

Haha I was really confused there for a minute!

@SHADOWGUARD CHAMPION would you be fine with 9182 calling you Clipper? I think it's a good name, and if 9182 can get to nickname more of his brothers he could get a name out of that!

Sure. No problem @Shlambate . I like it.

So we've got Clipper (7777) and Doc (4216) so far and we're only in the first encounter in the session! At this rate we'll all have a nickname by the time this session!

First of all, there is one point I want to make, and a rather important one at that. Important enough to be all-bold!

We need to keep in mind that we are all players in a role playing game out to have fun. Just because this is a 'military' environment and one of us is supposed to be in charge, I don't want all decisions to rest on the shoulders of the players of that in-game leader (me, in this case).

I suggest we discuss things in the OOC and form a plan of some sort as equals. We might then present the plan as something Anler works out with the squad and other leaders, but the bottom line is we all need to be a part of the discussion and decision. Even if you feel your character would not speak up and just let the others plan the assault, at least give your opinion in the OOC.

So, a plan, you say? Assaulting against fortified positions with blasters only against equal numbers, this will be pretty tough. We need to use our brains if we want to win this one.

@Rabobankrider , do we have access to some sort of schematics for the dome we need to assault? At the very least outlines, access points etc.?

Ideally, Anler will try to locate a spot where he could open a new entryway by cutting through a wall with a lightsaber and open the way for a flanking assault by a dedicated force while the bulk of our battalion assaults the dome and keeps the defenders occupied. They only specified we couldn't use explosives and Anler much prefers getting chewed out for a little damage to one wall than to fail the mission. Easier to get forgiveness than permission and all that. With explosives off the table and the entryways known, the enemy will hopefully not be expecting this, allowing our flankers to win the day.

What do the rest of you think?

EDIT: Can I assume Anler has a training lightsaber available for this exercise, as well as his normal lightsaber?

That would be the holomap I mentioned so you can use that for planning. If you want to do a perception or knowledge (warfare) check I can throw a few other options at you. Your current strategy sounds good to me if that's the way you want to go. You will also be having to do some leadership rolls for the mass combat as well, but you can do that via comlink or something if you want to lead the strike. You have about 500 or so men under your command for the battalion, which wwill be a base roll of 4 green, but you can break it down to several smaller units for different attacks etc. I'd recommend not breaking the npc's down past a platoon due to the mass combat system, but pc's are welcome to go off on their own.

Ah, ok, so the holomap is not just an overview but a detailed map? I misunderstood.

Also, it would be good to have a name/rank of the leader of the battalion, the one next to Anler in rank. Like most Jedi, Anler will be leading from the front, mostly, so that guy will need to have overview.

And leadership checks with untrained skill and presence 3... I hope you guys don't mind me flipping DPs for those -_-

Well your second in command will be major Zombie if you want to delegate anything.

Gulp. I thought he would be overseeing the thing.

Are we allowed to help out with the knowledge check? Some clones might have more experience with combat (a higher Intellect stat).

I like the idea to use the lightsaber to attack from an unexpected angle. Maybe Cyclone squad can go for the command network more or less unnoticed, while the rest of the battalion storms the defenses.

Yeah, as cyclone squad are the jedi's personnel unit they can probably join the initial briefing, so assists would just be you pointing something out on the map etc.

Haha, nope, you vs drummer, with zombie to help when needed. They're throwing you in a the deep end.

Regarding knowledge checks, it makes sense to have the one with the best stat/skill roll with assistance from the others as we are all discussing the plan, rather than Anler dictating how things will be done.

I like that thought. So a three-pronged attack. Main force assaults on a relatively tight angle to maximize attackers vs. defenders and bunch up the defenders. Secondary force will flank through an unexpected opening. And Cyclone squad will follow the secondary force in and then break from the group, trying to take out the command to create chaos.

@Rabobankrider , it's the deep end of the pool in concrete boots and handcuffs... I like it!

Only way to go for training! If I could include fire I would. :P And at this stage that works for assists, though whoever is doing the assist shold make their emote second to represent that, otherwise it'd be the other way around.

It could be as simple as PC 1 saying something about cutting through a wall and flanking, and then PC 2 (who is a brilliant tactician, the likes of which we have never seen before) pointing to a place on the map and suggesting the spot. I would count that as the PC 2's roll with assistance from PC 1. But that's just me.

What's the word, does Anler have his old training saber?

So we have Doc and me with Intellect 3 for knowledge warfare and Lana has Cunning 4 for Perception. I don't think anybody has skill ranks in either.

Shall we just roll one knowledge and one perception check to get some more information on the situation?

I'd say for this you have your regular, but can temporarily have the training setting mod. You can have it removed before going into battle off worlds, but for this just count it as a free mod.

For rolls, I'd say you guys can choose what you want to roll each, but have to stick with that for this one, eg if a perception check comes out bad, that's just bad luck, you can't hop to knowledge (warfare) if that's cool.

In that case, a perception check sounds like our best option. What would the difficulty for our convict specialist be?

I'm going to say average, as it's essentially just reading a 3D map.

So, @Matt Skywalker , care to do the honors? An average perception check?

And will @Kymrel be adding the blue dice for the assist?

For sure!

Could I suggest sending a large majority of the men on a frontal assault trying to breach the dome while Anler the Cyclones and two or three other squads choose a different point to enter at.
