Use dodge if it wont make me unconcius.

Sweet and simple!

This takes me back to Dragon Age: Origins, with all those combat tactics slots... "If enemy attacks <PC> in melee, switch to <X> defensive mode." Oh glorious tactical RPG battles.

How far away are the Troopers?

The closest group is at medium range from you, engaged with Maa't. The other group just to the right of the engagement is also at medium range, but it will take you three maneuvers to reach them from where you're at, because they are on difficult (and slippery!) terrain.

The other group of stormtroopers is at long range from you, to the left, covering their retreat with concentrated fire.

OK. Chundarr moves to engage the group fighting Maa't; Then Chundarr Smash!

this wont end well.

Go ahead and roll. Remember as outlined at they beginning of the encounter that the stormtroopers have Adversary 2 and Defense rating of 3, so that's 2eC+1eD+3eS.

Next three PCs please! I'll be spending a Dark Side Destiny Point to upgrade the difficulty on each action for the rest of this round, to represent the fight-or-flight nature of the troopers' situation.

Someone rolling on the floor laughing his *** off about making someone else's character commit suicide (by cop) when they generously let him control their character temporarily while his own character is unconscious...

That's a dark side move in real life.

That's not what's happening.

Can I get a recap of the tactical situration before Jarash and Tovera go?

The closest group is at medium range up from you, engaged with Maa't and Chundarr. The other group, at short range to the north of the engagement, in the slippery difficult terrain, is also at medium range above you.

The other group of stormtroopers is at long range from you, above and to the south, covering their retreat with concentrated fire.

To get back up on the upper walkway would require a jetpack or a Force jump type ability, or a Hard (1eC+2eD) Athletics check and two maneuvers. Or you could take the long way around, utilizing a ramp, which would require 4 maneuvers (long range) to engage & ascend either ramp, which are far north or far south (long range) of the big engagement with Maa't. Moving south would put you on the tail of the retreating troopers.

There is a large door at the South end of the upper walkway, and a small series of doors at the north end. These doors are near where the ramps terminate.

Er... relative to who? I've got two characters in different locations.

That was all relative to Tovera.

Jarash is east of the engagement, at short range, on the upper walkway. The stormtroopers on slippery terrain to the north are at short range as well. And he is at medium range from the troopers retreating south, towards the large doors.

If you want to chase the stormtroopers at medium range to the south, you'll have to take an extra maneuver getting past the engagement at the crossway, in order to put yourself at short range from the retreating stormtroopers.

That's a relief. I just thought that a starting character wouldn't stand a chance against those elite troopers, plus your warning about upgrading difficulty. Then he jumped in like Leeroy Jenkins, it just looked like suicide to me.

Not at all. Chundarr doesn't have any ranged weaponry, and has no skill ranks with his Force Pike (Melee GGG), His best combat skill is Brawl (YYG), and he has a blast vest on as well (5 soak total). Thus, he best chance of succeeding in combat is to use Brawl, and do what Chewie did to the storm troopers in the Carbon Freezing Chamber in ESB: Start smashing them left and right, and hope to knock some of them off the platform. It's perfectly in character.

With other characters, that might perhaps be accurate. But,

  1. He's a melee-focused Wookiee with a terrific starting Soak value, so it was totally justifiable from a character perspective and mechanical perspective, and
  2. I'm not a computer that has been designed to crush you if you misstep slightly on your tactical strategy like WoW's boss fight AI :) I'm a GM who is tasked with making the game challenging and enjoyable for all present. I hope I've managed that so far :) But like I said, we'll debrief after the scene.

Thanks guys, I seriously thought Matt's character was going to be dead meat

Sorry, had to work. Not sure if I can do all this but I'd like to....

Speak (of course)

Go pick up my dropped saber

Locate the lab data mainframe. (via childhood flashback perhaps?)

Edited by Mychal'el

Sure thing. In the IC, roll an Average (1eC+1eD) Knowledge (Lore) check. Include a Boost die as well.

Picking up the lightsaber is a maneuver.
