I think I am one step past you. I have a deck! Happy with it? Not yet.

I'd say you did pretty well for not being very happy with your deck :P

We having a tourney down in San Diego on November 5th at Game Empire. See the details below:

Special Rules: During this tournament, participants will be allowed to use the "Building the Winter Stores" agenda card created by Broson!

"Building the Winter Stores" (Agenda)
You may run any other agenda in addition to Building the Winter Stores.
Any Phase: Choose one of the following: Stand or kneel a character; give a character renown, stealth, or +2 STR until the end of the phase; or add 2 gold to your gold pool (Limit once per round).

The entry fee for this event will be $5

All participants that bring in at least 5 cans of food to donate will receive their own copy of the "Building the Winter Stores" agenda for use during the tournament.

Participants that bring in 10+ cans of food to donate will receive a copy of the agenda, and have their entry fee waived!

All cans will be donated to the San Diego Food Bank. Any money collected from entry fees will be used on canned food as well.

The tournament will start at 12:00pm, with registration opening at 11:30am. All standard deck building rules will apply.

$20 store credit to Game Empire will go to the winner!

I hope to make it out to Game Empire next week to participate. I just got the core set and a chapter pack a couple of weeks ago so I don't anticipate having a competitive deck, but it'll be nice to meet some more local players. Looking forward to it!

Awesome! Come on down. It'll be nice to meet you.

Jeff... glad to see you'll be joining us! I've created a handy checklist that shows which chapter packs belong to which cycle. It can be helpful to beginners... shoot us an email at agotsocal @ gmail.com if you're interested and I'll send it your way.

Wish I could come!

Had a great time at the AGOT tourney at Game Empire. Thanks again to Chris for lending me his Clansmen deck. I was ready to take my core set deck to lists but I made out much better with the Clans. Looking forward to the start of the league this month.

Great to have you, Jeff! I received your email and will respond shortly. I also added Brian to the SoCal Thrones Facebook group so he should be able to add anyone else that needs to be on there. It's good for banter and keeping up with any impromptu thronesing.

To recap the event.... we collected ~200 cans for the San Diego Food Bank. Congrats to DeathJester for halting Crevic's nigh-unstoppable rush deck in the tourney final (Crevic had already beaten DJ with a turn 1 win earlier that day). Thanks to all who attended including out-of-towner Byron and newcomers Jeff and Brian. Also thanks to Game Empire for all their support, the venue, and $20 store credit to the winner. It was a great day of thronesing, capped off by several of us conquering the giant "beer tube" at the nearby watering hole. I'll see if I can post a pic or two.

Next up for the SD Thrones scene is the Winter League which starts one week from today. As DJ mentioned earlier, email us at agotsocal@ gmail.com to sign up and receive the rules sheet.

Glad you had fun with it! :) Just wait till the Lannister box comes out; they'll be even meaner.

Crevic is alex right? What deck was he running?

Correct, Alex was second. He played Bara rush with Knights of the Realm.

Yeah, Bara Knights. KL Robert and Core Stannis just went to town, it was quite fantastic.

SoCal Winter League starts TONIGHT! Come on down to Game Empire San Diego and get your Thrones on.

I figured I share some stats over here from Winter League.

We currently have 16 player signed up, but only 13 have actually played any games.

For those unfamiliar with our league, we're playing every Monday night at Game Empire. Players are only allowed to play each other 2 times during the league, and rankings are based on number of wins, with the tie breaker going to the player that has played the most games. On January 21st the top 8(?) players will be seeded, and play in a single elimination tournament for the finals.

If you;re interested, come on down to Game Empire in San Diego. We're only 3 weeks in, and you can catch up on games pretty quickly.

Man, I wish I was close enough to join this league! Plus I scoff at the idea of this being a "Winter" league. Psh! You haven't had winter until you've had an IL winter!

Haha, yeah, you are correct that we should probably put "Winter" in quotations, since here in San Diego the Ravens don't visit us much (except at the gaming table).

SoCal Thrones will be at Pair-A-Dice games in Vista on Saturday Dec 17 from noon to 6pm for demos, deckbuilding, melee and even league matches. We'll wrap up the day with a raffle... veteran or newbie, feel free to stop on by!

Some stats after 5 weeks of play in our Winter League (Player Rankings can be found on our Facebook group page).

For those of you not involved, we have 14 players. Each player is allowed to play up to 3 games against another player. Players are ranked by # of Wins, with # of games played being the first tie breaker. There is also a prize for the player that plays with the most variety of decks (house/agenda combos).

Since this is the Socal meta thread, I thought I'd mention our Los Angeles/South Bay play group. We've met the last two weeks in Manhattan Beach. Last week we met at my house for my inauguraul AGOT experience. We had 4 players and it was a blast. Special thanks to Chris Schoenthal who both introduced me to the game and made the long trek up. This week we started our now weekly gathering at the Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach. We had 5 this week and hopefully we will see more next week. For next week, we are trying to decide between Tuesday and Wednesday, so if you would like to join us, please weigh in on what day works best for you.

Congratulations to DeathJester26 on winning the SoCal Winter League! He narrowly defeated Bronson in a Martell-Maesters vs Stark-Maesters, 11 plot, 2 hour, 15-14 power count final. The balance of power swung back and forth several times during the game- a LOT of fun to watch :) Sadly my ability to play a wide variety of decks decently didn't help me come anywhere near winning the League. Thanks to DeathJester for all the work he put into the league setup and stat-keeping!

I'm going to try and have final stats for the league posted here by the end of the week.

Thank you everyone for participating. Now, it's time to get serious...

For anyone who was not in the Winter League, we still meet Monday nights at Game Empire around 6pm.

Congrats John. I am still bummed I did not have the time to participate in the Winter League. I will work on building some decks this weekend and hope to be out there on Monday.
