The great frustration - at least being a Yank - is they never got a proper DVD release here in the states. I had to import all 4 seasons from the UK. Not that big of a deal since I already had a region free player for all my Doctor Who discs, but the exchange rate was less than favorable.

Disgustingly, Amazon has all 4 seasons for 40 pounds. I think I was paying 40 pounds a season when I got them in 2001!

Again, it were 2(!) posts at most that were inconsiderate. Stating it is "repeated behaviour" seems a bit strong!

If you had read my previous post you would have seen that I too indicated that I agreed with the sentiment expressed by bladerunner all except for his final statement.

The continuous trolling by ErickB, his constant ignoring of posts and part of posts that counter his point and only lifting out a part he can pick up to call people "Space Nazi Lovers", his constant invoking of his fantasy world as being the guiding line for the thoughts and spirit of LucasDisney (as he calls it) and his disdain for other people's enjoyment (even stating he sees it as his duty to (and I quote) "**** up their fun") both in his own as well as in topics by others is so much more detrimental to these boards than two people getting carried away while having fun and crossing the line just once, that I cannot believe you would make such a close minded statement and mean it.

I have encountered your general "Holier than thou" attitude quite a few times before and it seems like you enjoy expressing the minority opinion a bit too much for my liking, hence the "contrarian" remark.

Well, to be fair. I've posted a lot of hostile posts, a lot. More than 2 at least.

While I find HDs arrogant tone to be mildly amusing in an post-adolescent, big for his boots kind of way ... Oh the hostility! or is it just honesty? are they mutually exclusive? Of course not... but should I avoid being honest because people are sensitive and gets easily offended? Particularly when they get offended on behalf of others...? I guess I'll be put on ignore now, if I'm not already...

Anyway the point of HDs posts are more or less correct in my opinion - although the "courage" part is just stupid, I mean the hostility and bad atmosphere that such behaviour creates is a good point (as Bladerunner-[insert number] also points out). Whether Erik or I, or whoever, started or kept it going is really irrelevant, the constant bickering and badmouthing is bad for the community - that much is obvious, even if I find that some people seem a tad too sensitive and prone to paint themselves as a victim of some sort, whether its on the behalf of others or not. Just that this discussion is now happening and someone points it out makes it more or less a "fact". Someone dislikes it, I know for a fact that a few does, since they are no longer active on these forums, they left just because of crap like this. Does that say anything about them? Perhaps. Does it say anything about the people still hanging around? Perhaps.

My only "defence" is that I have none really. ErikB has never replied, seems unaffected by my ramblings and constant childishness and continues on his troll-stampede. He is determined to act like a cleaning utensil, so let him. Put him on ignore if you dislike it too much, I know I won't because I take some obscene and perverted pleasure in reading his nonsense, reading other people's responses ... and replying myself, in my own twisted and pre-adolescent way, because, to be honest, it is quite addictive to respond to Erik's nonsensical statements.

This is a forum that's hardly, if ever, moderated sadly, so either deal with the current status of crap, or join in - as some already do by participating and attempting to take a "moral high ground"... it's not all fun and games, but: GIFT.

I am not putting ErickB on ignore either but if I would have him on ignore (as HappyDaze, as has told us a gazillion times, has) I wouldn't think about joining in the discussion surrounding it.

The repeated behavior I mention comes from numerous threads that develop when others decide that the best way to deal with ErikB is hostility rather than simply ignoring him.

Well, social interaction rarely improves when fighting "fire with fire" ... and while HD has a point, he's sadly only trapping himself in the same nonsense he's complaining about/criticising, HD's attempting to be "grown up" or "mature", which HD usually is as far as I'm concerned... but we know (by "we" I refer to sociologists, social psychologists and psychologists) that confrontational behaviour - or as HD refers to it: "hostility" - rarely works to make people compliant, agree or change behaviour, rather it reinforces their already irritating/annoying behaviour, they will even more forcefully stand by their arguments and view points, regardless of the futility they face, even if they cannot "win"... it's all related to the notion of "saving face", pride and other such useless personality traits we all suffer (obliviously) from to one degree or another.

Having a heated discussion is not equal to being hostile.

It can be. The two are not mutually exclusive. For one it might not be, but for the other it could be. We rarely know, and since people are too proud to inform the other party of this - again showing weakness, such an animal thing - the heated discussion can be good and almost constructive for one party, whereas the other will feel put down, harassed and so on.

Y'know what? I'm going to hold up my hands and apologise for some of the remarks I've made that have escalated to the level of "bad taste" - as mentioned previously, I don't have an awful lot of free time in which to relax and allow myself personal leisures like RPing; so when I do find the time, the last thing I want is to be badgered by someone who insists on calling me a space nazi, and who craps on the efforts of my Brothers-in-Arms by making idiotic real world references.

Should I put him on ignore? Yes, I should have - that would have been the mature thing to do, but like many others I was extremely hesitant to put anyone on that list. But now I have, as I have done to a few others who I think I'll be happier for not having to view. A shame, but at least it'll remove any temptation that's there for me to lower myself to such levels.

So, to summarise: sorry for stepping over the line. I don't agree that everyone should bow their heads and be treated like "bullies" for firing back at a troll, however - especially when they can't avoid his comments, even with ignore, because when he's often quoted it makes his comments visible regardless. But yes, I apologise for my part.

I'll be the childish and immature one: I won't apologise until the offending party (i.e. ErikB) apologises for his behaviour against the community in general, and of course stops offending other members of the community the way he does through inattentiveness to history and good sound reasoning.

Im not accusing anyone of this by quoting this post, I'm just explaining my view. I love seeing people discuss things passionately, even those that oppose my own views. However, I don't enjoy pointless hostility, and hostility on game boards can't be anything but pointless.
