Donovan was right and I was wrong

By Maelora, in General Discussion

No, Erik, you have that wrong. This is a board for the AoR beta. And while the game is presented in a Rebel -centric viewpoint, FFG does discourage or condemn anyone who wishes to play an Imperial game. To say so is dishonest at best. You're quoting the text from WEG's game, while interesting, means nothing on how FFG wants their game played. All you have to say is nothing but pro-Rebel propaganda.

perhap this may clue him: ErikB: we'd rather have daleks than you.

Heh, that was worth un-ignoring you just for that! :)

Even on ignore it's hard to not push the "view it anyway" button because I am a glutton for punishment. And my punishment is right there before me, namely that his opinions on the setting are so effing boring .

"I don't report honest brusque - I find Jegergryte remarkably honest, despite the occasional headbuttting we have engaged in."

Yeah, you're quite correct.

We may not agree on much, but I shouldn't take things personally. So now only poor Erik makes my ignore list, and that's only so I can concentrate on the game, as SS says, instead of his attention-seeking antics.

Maelora, did you get my PM? Sorry for asking in a thread, but the last message I sent to MosesOfWar didn't seem to want to go out. :(

I think people should save discussion of playing Imperials for when FFG makes an imperial game, in the same way that people have saved discussion of Jedi until Force and Destiny.

I think the whole situation is quite sad really. The guy can talk Star Wars till the nerfs come home, but the fact that he virtually never makes a post about the actual game other then to attack some fluff related issue or an FFG/Lucasfilm decision suggests the poor guy is so abrasive he can't find anyone to actually play with him.

It's like the kid who knows every MLB players stats by heart but is never allowed to play tee-ball because he's always getting in fights with the other kids over the colors the coaches picked for the teams.

So, my last try failed? Complete fallen by the way side. I am now 100% sure you are trolling.

I guess that I'll do the ignore shuffle as well then...

Hey there look it's another stupid Erik opinion that everyone should feel free to ignore because, thankfully, he has zero power to content-police this forum.

BTW, people talk about Jedi and Sith in terms of game mechanics on both this and the EotE board already.

People should be free to discuss whatever game they play, Erik. Be it Rebel or Imperial. Your narrow, simplistic viewpoint is just one of many. FFG only cares that people enjoy playing their game, not whether they play Rebels or Imperials. Just like they chose to focus their core books around the original trilogy, they chose to focus on edgy characters in EotE and Rebels in AoR. But they have never said that you can not play or discuss Imperial games. Nor have they said that you can play the Empire as nothing else but as space nazis. So stop trying to be a nazi and tell everyone how to play or what you think FFG is going to have to do now that Disney owns LucasArts et al. Because you have absolutely no clue whatsoever. I find it humourous, but not everyone does.

Then at least be upfront about it and say you want the Empire to be less evil so you don't feel so bad about cheering for them, and not because it will make trying to bring them down more fun, and you want stormtroopers to be awesome and rebels to suck because you want to play stormtroopers, not because rebels sucking will make it more fun to play rebels.

I've been totally up front about what I like and don't like. And since I GM I always play the Empire, and any other opposition. I am not the one lying and twisting words.

Oh, and you know what?! Rebels are drum circle hippies smoking doobies and dropping acid and getting nothing whatsoever done... while the Empire's a bunch of coke addicts desiring ketamine so they can't get anything done.... here comes the Vorlons!

Guys okay I have lurked this and other threads with a huge grin on my face but you all need to stop feeding the troll that is ErikB it is starting to get sad

No no, the Vorlons would just stand around looking mysterious. We need to send in the Shadows. They get stuff done.

People always cheer for the underdogs. Being the underdogs is what makes them heroic in the first place. The piddly Rebels daring to defy the vast Imperial machine. Doesn't mean they can't be skilled or bigger than life. Only that its going to take more than brute force to take on the Empire. Being in the right place at the right time and doing the right thing all culminating in taking out the big villain. David & Goliath over and over. Its tried and true. And you continually fail to understand that. But your basic, simplistic, dogmatic, black& white point of view never ceases to amuse me, if not everyone else, Erik.

Of course! And The Hand! And those pesky Drakh... and of course the Centauri, those guys are just awesome at getting things done... and throw in some Narns for good measure and all we need are some Sebaceans and a Scarran or two and we're off for a ... confusing start!

Woo for the Farscape and B5 references! :D

Woo for the Farscape and B5 references! :D

I've wanted to make a B5 hack of this system, I think it could work pretty well... a Farscape hack could also be cool though... hm... any takers?! Didn't think so

Depends on whether you'll have rule modifications that allow us to re-enact the Loony Toons episode or not. :D

Farscape was awesome. It would be interesting to come up with a group like that for Edge or AoR. Have to dig out that issue of SWGamer with the space whales.

Just switch to Steve Jackson's Toon for a one-shot.
