Starfighter Creation Thread

By LibrariaNPC, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have a request. My players were looking to incorporate either a F-LER or YT-XC into their YT-1300. Could you take a shot at creating stats for both?

These are rather interesting. I'll see what I can come up with in the next day or two; working on a few capital ships for my game and preparing for the group to come by this week for character creation and possibly the first part of the session.

But consider them on the docket!

Alright, I did a bit of research on those two, and they are going to be relatively easy to stat up (looking at them as being in the same ballpark as a TIE). Work has been insane and my computer is still boxed up (the office is a disaster), so expect a bit of a delay, but you'll have them soon!

Alright, I don't have my copies of EotE or AoR with me (all of them are at home with the rest of my notes for tonight's character creation session), but I got my numbers in order for the two requests!

F-LER

Silhouette: 3

Speed: 4 (2 when pulling cargo)

Handling: +1

Defense: 0/0

Armor: 2

Hull Threshold: 9

System Threshold: 10

Weapons:

Forward Mounted Harpoon and Tow Cable (

*: These ships are used as tugs for ships in space, and can use the Tractor option with the harpoon and tow cable accordingly. The encumbrance listed is an estimate for carrying weight in standard gravity.

Statter’s Notes: This is a bit odd, but it’s rather interesting. I statted it to be in the ballpark of a TIE fighter with a harpoon to tug things along. We don’t have much along the lines of a tugboat just yet, so a lot of what I have here is pure guesswork.

Statter’s Notes : This ship isn’t really designed for combat, but rather scouting and tooling around in places you can’t (or don’t want to) take a YT-1300. I made it as fast as a fighter (thus the 4 speed), but it doesn’t look very agile. Since it isn’t a combat craft, I left Handling at 0, but I can see a solid argument for +1 (possibly even +2), but I feel that would raise the price. I also gave it the durability of a TIE fighter, as it again isn’t a combat craft.

I priced it for the “stock” version that includes no weapons, as Wookieepedia states that it’s the smugglers and pirates that arm them.

Since all we really have on it is based on a toy, there isn’t much to work with. Hopefully this will get the job done, though!

Awesome job on those! Very much appreciated!

Anytime! If you use them, let me know how well they turn out and what sort of changes you would like or did make. Nothing I stat is perfect, so I'm always up for constructive criticism and input!

I know this is a bit of thread necromancy (not horrible as it's only been under three weeks), but I am working on getting the Twintail and Predator statted up now that I finally finished reading AoR. If you have any other requests, fire them off and I'll see what I can do!

I'm also looking for a way to make this collection "prettier" with regards to making it a downloadable file. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, please let me know!

I know it's outside the size of a fighter, but I'm trying to get a good stat up for a munificent-class frigate. It seam like your very good at doing the stats on different fighters etc. Figured I'd ask since I haven't found this one anywhere. :)

If you can help, thanks, if not, no worries. I liked the Vulture workup you did.

IMo the Big issue with doing the Munificent would be the same problem that comes with doing a Ruscanr Light Destroyer or an Imperial-II class Star Destroyer. Right now there are no turblolasers in the system which match the output of the main guns of those classes. I'm guessing that sooner or later they will come out with a Battleship grade turbolaser which would fit perfectly but it hasn't appeared yet AFAIK (The Secutor in Stay on Target might have it though. I haven't bought Stay on Target yet.)

The formula isn't a great mystery though, just look at the weapons chart.

The next turbolaser up will probably be range long, damage 12, crit 3, breach 5, slow 2

What gets me is that the Core in EoTE states that the Rebels have the Munificent in there fleets, yet, never a stat on them. A surprising number of them survived the war and even went Pirate after the war. So, it's not unfathamable to encounter one.

Can't shove the whole universe inside of a single sourcebook, you won't have anything for the supplements.

Also remember its still a game that has to be playable. You can't just copy and paste from wookieepedia, you have to make sure the stats both match the lore (or at least get close) and still fits the role, functions, and balanced of the game.

I figure that the Munificent, Ruscant, and hopefully some of the lesser known CIS capital ships will show up in one of a few places.

1 An EOE career book (Not particularly likely but not impossible)

2: The Commander career book

3: An EOE or AOR Sector book covering an area with a lot of CIS Holdouts

4: A pirate and privateer sourcebook or a CIS Holdout sourcebook

5: FFG eventually does surcebooks for non-OT Eras and they are in the Clone Wars Era Book

I've done up plenty of things outside of fighters , and I've been considering a Capital Ship thread for some time but due to lack of requests and a large draw on my time (testing, moving, holidays, blacksmithing classes, etc), it's fallen to the wayside. It also didn't help that I couldn't get around to reading my copy of Age of Rebellion until after I moved twice (it was released after I moved the first time).

I'll add the Munificent to the list and, if time permits, I'll get it and the rest of my list statted up at some point in the near future. I need to wait until I get my copy of Stay On Target first, just to make sure anything else I stat hasn't already been done.

Ghostofman is, as usual, correct. If they put EVERYTHING into one book, we'd be waiting years more than we already wait, and you'll have to pay even more. This hobby is expensive enough; having to shell out an even bigger sum every few months is not something everyone can afford.

He's also correct with the comment on balance. Most of my stats aren't 100% tested; most are statted with canon in mind, tweaked with some feedback and later thought, and then tested against another ship mentally or with the help of one of my players.

In a way, it's a thankless job and takes a surprising amount of time, but it's really fun, which is why I keep doing it and why I strive for that balance between playability and canon accuracy. I'm sure the folks at FFG feel the same way!

I should also note that my list for the Capital Ship Thread is as follows:

YZ-2500 (Legacy)

Derriphan Battleship (Old Republic)

Supremacy -class attack ship (Old Republic)

Interdictor- class Warship (Old Republic)

Jehavey’ir -type Assault Ship (Old Republic)

Kyramud -type Battleship (Old Republic)

Kandosii -type Dreadnaught (Old Republic)

Foray Blockade Runner (Old Republic)

Praetorian Frigate (see Class VI Cruiser) (Old Republic)

Hammerhead Cruiser (Old Republic)

Inexpugnable Tactical Command Vessel (Old Republic)

Centurion Battlecruiser (Old Republic)

Harrower-class Star Destroyer (Old Republic)

Carrack-class

Tartan-class

Venator-class Star Destroyer

Lucrehulk

Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser

Munificent-class

I've statted up the Pelta and the Carrack so far. Just need the time to work on the others. . .

I'd like to see stats for the Strike-class cruiser.

I made up stats for a Strike-class prototype stolen by a rogue executive at Loronar. It was my first campaign's Death Star. I'll see if I still have them.

Also given that you've already done some non-Star Wars stuff I'd like to see the Constitution-class heavy cruiser from Star Trek. Maybe the Galaxy-class explorer or Defiant-class escort too.

Forgive me if you've done this one already (and if you have could you lemme know where?) and I know that it's only a LEGO ship and not canon, but could you take a swing at this one?

Much obliged.

Wow, thread-necromancy FTW!

I'd like to see stats for the Strike-class cruiser.

I'll add it to the list! My Star Wars game has hit a slowdown due to a playtest and prep for a pair of conventions, but I'm REALLY hoping to get onto this again.

My only concern is the technology differences, as Warp Drives are faster than hyperdrives, and phasers seem to function a bit differently (but in some ways similar) to blasters. I'll see what I can cook up, but in universe takes priority :-D

That looks awesome. Does it have a name? If so, I'd love to give it the name that it's due instead of just calling it "Lego Inspired Ship 1"

If you're doing Lego models, how about one for Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!

I was so much a Benny as a kid.

Don't tempt me, because if I did, my players would throw out their Ghtroc and pick it up in a heartbeat!
