I did not mistype, I meant to say Jabba's representative. It is Gorka's account, but apparently, Jabba has some sort of control over it. The bank's representative currently believes "Tyra Bryn" to be an authorized handler of the account (presumably one of Gorka's trusted associates, and based on what she has just said, the leader of the gunrunning branch).

Deception: 2eA+3eB+2eC 2 successes

Alright, on my way out of the bank I’d like to make as many mental notes of things like cameras and security features as I can xD

Okay, please go ahead and make an Average Skulduggery check with 1 Setback. Darien has 3 Cunning, so he'll assist.

Well, actually, since no one has Skulduggery, just take a Boost on top of the 3 Cunning. I thought Maya had a rank.

Skulduggery: 3eA+1eB+2eD+1eS 1 success

Just barely

Okay, that'll grant some benefits in future actions within the bank, we'll cross those bridges when we come to them. Suffice to say, you've got a decent knowledge of their security systems.

Are you heading directly to the guy, or is there anything you want to accomplish on the way? (in other words, are you ready for me to narrate you into an encounter?)

I just realized that I never gave a name or description of the guy, so I amended the IC post.

His name is Valek Signa, he is a Rutian Twi'lek who has large gold ear piercings and bracelets.

Sorry, yes. Directly towards the Casino in case they're being followed, to at least make it look like they're making an attempt to find the guy.

I realized I may have misread the situation, if you weren't ready to actually go meet the guy (or at least get into sight range), I'll amend the post. I saw it last night and then didn't post til this morning, so I lost some of the nuance over that time.

Not a problem, if it's that easy to spot him, might as well go ahead and give it a try.

So, since he's gambling, out of curiosity (and perhaps potential) what game is he playing? I know Sabacc has a rule set in Suns of Fortune, and Hintaro has rules in Fly Casual.

Well, I don't have rules for either, but let's say Sabacc. If you are interested in playing, you can tell me the rules.

Rules for Sabacc are as follows from Sun of Fortune

Quote

The following rules can be used to simulate one round or hand of sabacc, a popular card game in the Star Wars universe in which the game's players attempt to develop a hand of positive or negative 23 using a deck of 78 cards that randomly shift values until they are played.

1. The table agrees on a wager, and each player pay this amount into the pot.

2. Players use cool to establish a dice pool.

3. The GM determines the difficulty of the check based on the difficulty of the game and the skill of the opponents. If multiple PCs are playing against one another (or against minor NPCs), the difficulty should be a set value. If the PCs are playing against a skilled NPC (or at least one important to the plot) the difficulty should be set by the NPC's skill, as per the rules for an opposed check.

4. Each character then rolls their check, leaving the results on the table. Each then rolls a single Force Die to illustrate the shifting nature of the cards' signs. For each Dark Side Pip, one Success and Advantage are converted into Failure and Threat respectively. Conversely, each Light Side Pip changes one Failure and Threat into a Success and Advantage respectively.

5. To cheat, a character uses Deception, Computers, or Skulduggery instead of Cool (depending on the specific means of cheating). If the character decides to cheat, they must upgrade the difficulty of the check once. If the check generates Despair (no matter the remaining results) the character is caught cheating - with any consequences that may ensue.

6. If a PC succeeds on his check, he wins back his wager (failure means he loses his wager). Each additional Success wins another wager's worth. A Triumph allows him to reveal a positive or negative 23 and win the entire sabacc pot. The round ends.

When playing with multiple PCs, treat the roll as a competitive check where the player with the most Success wins. In the case that no PC succeeds, the pot rides to the next round of betting.

TABLE 4-2: SPENDING Advantage, Triumph, Threat, AND Despair IN SABACC

Advantage - The character recovers one strain as one of the cards unexpectedly flips into something useful.

2 Advantage - The character adds Boost to his next check as he succesfully bluffs his opponent.

3 Advantage - The character figures out an opponent's tells and downgrades the difficulty of his next check once.

Triumph - Reveal a positive, negative, or natural 23 and win the entire sabacc pot (determined by the GM)

Threat - The character suffers one strain as one of the cards in his hand unexpectedly flips into something detrimental.

2 Threat - The character adds Setback to his next check when he falls for an opponent's bluff.

3 Threat - Lack of focus or a seriously bad hand shatters the character's concentration for the moment. He Upgrades the difficulty of his next check once.

Despair - The character is caught cheating; if he is not cheating, Despair means he bombs out, runs out of chips, and can no longer play in the game (at the GM's discretion, he may be able to amass another stake and buy in later).

While I'm not terribly interested in playing, I feel like I might have a better shot at cooperation if I join in on the game instead of just trying to interrupt Valek's fun.

Thanks. I'm working on a post now, should be up a minute.

I'm going to handwave numbers until the end, the amount you lose or gain will be multiples of 100 depending on the results.

Do you want to actually play it out, or abstract it with a single roll and just roleplay the scene?

What I was after was to 'play' a couple rounds, get him talking, move into asking him to give me the authorization I need to withdraw the funds, and if he refuses, wager something against him authorizing it for me. Then use my computers skill to try and cheat to win the hand and get the authorization.

Okay, that works. You'll be rolling against RRP.

I've second guessed myself, let's just use the RAW rules for betting.

Cool for Sabacc: 3eA+2eC+1eD+1eF 2 Dark Side
a-s-s.pnga-s-s.pnga-a-a.pngc-f-th.pngc-f-th.pngd-f-f.pngf-ds-ds.png

Since it came out to an even 2 Dark Side, I believe that makes it 2 failure, 2 threat on the check for a setback on the next round.

You are correct.

Well, RIP 100 credits.

(the Devaronian actually rolled a Despair first try. :P That wasn't narrative on my part, just bad luck on his!)

Cool for Sabacc: 3eA+2eC+1eD+1eS+1eF 1 failure, 2 Light Side
a-a.pnga-s.pnga-a.pngc-f-f.pngc-th-th.pngd--.pngs--.pngf-ls-ls.png

The 2 Light Side turns that into 1 Success, 2 Advantage, so I get a boost to the next check and I don't lose any credits this round I believe.

1 success, 1 advantage. With all the strain I've been taking from dialogue, that strain recovery isn't half bad.
