Took me a minute, but this is what I'm referring to, emphasis mine -

Expel User, SM 87

"As an action, a slicer may make an Opposed Computers vs Computers check to cause another user to lose access to the system. If the slicer has identified that user's signature, increase the difficulty of the user's Computers checks for Access System action by two for this computer until the end of the encounter."

So, question here. What I'd like to do is make Maya an authenticated user to the account in question. If I do that while her opponent is in the system, will they know that she makes that change?

EDIT: Alternatively, could I use the Enact Command to remove that computers administrator access since I have their full signature?

The latter is acceptable, but will be Daunting difficulty (no Boost).

Yeah, they'd be able to tell.

He gets one more piece of your signature, and with 2 Advantage he'll get the fourth part of your signature. he'll get 2 Boost with the remaining 2 Advantage (Opportunity Identified twice).

Shouldn't there be 3 setback there as well? 2 from the spread decoys, 1 from the cover the tracks (says on any checks by defensive slicers, not a single one.)

Holy crap. I'll spread decoys twice (4 setback to next expel user/trace user against me), get another temporary bypass (2 banked boost), and a opportunity identified (boost to next check).

Wait, can he do that since he technically fails to get into the system? The table reads -

"A portion of the intruder's slicing signature is discovered in the system, with the advantages that this entails."

Technically, he's still out of the system 🤣

I guess you're right on that one, unless we fluff-text it as him extrapolating it from whatever you used to try and block him out of the system and that's why he "failed" because he shifted tacks and was examining your block.

That's up to you. It's not really clear on that front of when a defender can use that.

As for the check, that will need to wait as well.

Since Maya's in the system and her opponent isn't, here's the list of things I'm curious as to if I can do with the Enact Command:

-Transfer the funds in the account to Maya's datpad and bail. (I'm not expecting this to be allowed, figure I'd have to show up in person to withdraw the funds, or that it'd be much more complicated.)

-Add an alias name to the account that Maya can access with whatever password. (This seems more reasonable, since that would mean she'd need to show up to the place now that she's discovered it, and withdraw the funds in person under the alias.) After, delete the record of the command so the admin can't tell she was added when they get back in, or what account she accessed. (I like this one the best since it'd make us have to go to location to withdraw the funds, and gives me a reason to be forced to share the funds with the rest of the party besides 'Thanks for saving me, here's money.')

-A much more lengthy process. First, remove the admin's access, so it's much more difficult for them to get in (I believe that would be Daunting with +2 difficulty, however you work that.) Then, create a new account, with Maya as the registered user under an alias. Then, transfer the funds into the new account. Then, remove the log of her actions so they can't identify what she did. (All of that would need to be done while the admin is out of the system I'm sure, so there'd probably be expel user every so often whenever they manage to get back in.)

Yeah, I wouldn't go with that for a couple reasons. It would have to be authorized by someone on their end, and since they have an intruder alert they aren't likely to authorize such a transaction.

I like this one. First action would be Average, but Upgraded once (from a DP) and with 2 Setback since you don't want it noticed, so you're being more careful. The second action will be Opposed by their Vigilance (if in system) and will be Hard with 2 Upgrades. Failure would indicate you didn't manage to erase its presence, Despair would indicate that he's on to you.

I'll go with this. I'll flip a DP as well to upgrade, I've got that boost from opportunity identified and I'll use 2 of the 4 from temporary bypasses as well.

Okay so I'm added to the account. . . however I'm curious about that advantage. I'd like to use one for opportunity identified. Since I already know where we have to go for this account, could I use the remaining 3 advantage for a particularly interesting find from Valuable Data? Specifically something like what criminal organization we'll be crossing to steal these credits?

Yowzah, that's a lot of dice. He now knows where you are. He'll then go for Telltale Sign, downgrading the next attempt to Expel or Trace you by 4 (one per fragment of your signature).
