Reach of the Empire IC

By Edgehawk, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Beginner Game

Hale tosses it up and catches it experimentally, "Nice one, Doc. It'll be safe with me."

As Drogos slices through the lift door, alarms begin to chirp from the other side, and the whole lift abruptly drops, taking the Inquisitor and his red blade with it; Drogos is certain he hears or senses a voice from just the other side of the lift.

Only Briar’s fast thinking under pressure checks the lift’s fall, as she quickly crosses the lift and presses the large red emergency stop button.

Just a few short meters below them now, the three remaining rebels on the east lift landing concentrate their fire on the trooper with the oversized helmet, the one who has so depleted their numbers. Just when they think their assault is having no effect, a few well-placed bursts tear the disruptor rifle from the trooper’s grasp and send it spiraling into the darkness below.

Momentarily rallied, their comrades on the landing opposite, across the shaft, let out a yell and prepare to attack.

The Inquisitor almost drops his Saber to instead stop the lift but then finds the Lift to have stopped it's free fall, looking around he spots Briar having Pulled an emergency Lever. " Good Work Agent." Drogos says then changes his efforts on powering through the Door to making a hole in the Ceiling of the Lift. It takes a great deal of effort as the Lift's walls were thick Durasteel which always seemed to slow a Lightsaber, but with enough weight behind his cut he eventually makes a door tall enough for himself to have a head of clearance and wide enough for two persons to climb up through. "TROOPERS!" The inquisitor shouts as the door is tossed by the Inquisitors muscle aided by the force down the Shaft of the lift. " OPEN FIRE!" He lifts his Saber into a guarded stance to ward blaster fire for those not ready to leave the lift for cover yet.

The remaining death troopers continue to rain death down upon the rebels below, or at least manage a few solid hits. The rebels return fire, this time send a devastating barrage of fire at the scout trooper with the long rifle. It is a testament to his instincts and training, that he manages to roll back out of the line of fire, with his life.

Hale grimaces as he pulls out a grenade and tosses it down the shaft, towards the source of the fire that hit Hawk. He is rewarded by several screams and a shout of, "Jonn's down!"

"[Banshees, frag 'em again!]" Hale takes note of Griff's still form, and calculates that there's nothing that can be done.

Evon's attention shifts from Hale to Hawk, passing Griff. He makes the split second decision that the living comes first and he grabs a Stim from his belt and sticks it into Hawk, between the helmet and chest-piece.

Hoping Hawk doesn't turn around and shoots him from pure reflex, he draws the frag he got from the Squamatan and throws it on the soldiers.

,,Here's your medicine, rebel scum! Take 1 now and another 2 minutes later!"

But the explosive bounces behind them, failed to release its full strength, but they still got caught in the blast.

There are only a few left defending the landing platforms at sublevel three. The delaying action of the rebel intelligence force has taken a devastating toll upon them, and indeed inflicted some serious casualties upon the imperial raiders; but it has also bought a small amount of precious time, for those who might yet escape death or capture. They have done all they can, and withdraw from view, before more grenades can rain down upon them.

Drogos after cutting a hole in the ceiling of the lift, turns to the Men and Women in the lift his lightsaber back on his back “ We will split into two groups, Storm troopers escort the Agent through the second floor. DeathTroopers with me to the third Sub level.” He says then drops through the hole in the floor the rebels made. The Inquisitor catches onto a tube that was Jutting out of the bottom of the lift, and swings himself landing on the entry to the third floor.

Upon entry he looks around the room igniting his Lightsaber once more and notices the servers that decorated the room, and the damaged ones near the front where the fighting was. Then he spots Shadows in the room darting around, leaping into action he finds two rebels running, he lifts his free hand and the troopers float into the air squirming.

"Follow me." Briar says to the Stormtroopers as she climbs through the hole that the Inquisitor had cut in the lift, finding the second floor filled with desks with computers sitting atop them. She looks around the room noticing silence, it appears the rebels had already abandon this level. Moving over to one of the computers Briar sees that someone had started to clear the files in an attempt to prevent the Empire from getting the information, moving quickly she is able to stop the wipe and save some of the data.

Hale and the other Banshees step out of the lift after Briar. Hale raises his pistol with his good arm, "Fan out, Banshees." The trio of stormtroopers move quickly out ahead of the Agent, running a quick sweep to make sure the room is safe. "Room's clear, agent. We'll watch your back while you pull what you can off these computers."

“B!#] t•€.” The commander orders her two remaining death troopers, and they quickly bind the rebels held in thrall by the Inquisitor. These, though armed and obviously trained with weapons, are dressed more for desk jobs. Armored vests and helmets are the only outward indication that they had been prepared for this contingency. Well, maybe not this contingency.

The Inquisitor, his pilot, and the death troopers, find no further resistance amongst the server stacks of sublevel three. The ladder in the lift shaft appears to be the only way down to the fourth sublevel, with the lift out of service.

Above on the second sublevel, Lt.Cdr. Ostell halts the deletion of files that had been under way in the control center, and even manages to salvage something that seems particularly well-protected. Confident that she can decrypt it, given time, she transfers the file to her datapad. Hale, Backbeat, and Slowdive continue to cover Briar, until the upload is complete and they are ready to rejoin Drogos below. If the Inquisitor is finished down there, their mission is half complete! Three sublevels cleared, three to go.

The Inquisitor lets the Rebels Drop after they have been bound by the Deathtroopers, Looking around at the servers he uses his communicator, " Agent, is the 2nd floor secure? If so I have Servers for you to investigate." He then turns to the Death Troopers, and Ral, "When the Agent has secured all the information in this room I will be the first to breach by the Ladder heading downward to the Fourth Floor.' The inquisitor says while still on the communicator line with the rest of the group. " The Storm and Death Troopers will follow immediately after me then everyone else, with the Doctor taking the rear. Understood." He turns off the communicator and walks over to the Ladder and picks up Luks' dropped ion weapon which had luckily fallen there and not all the way down the shaft, " Is this one of ours?" The inquisitor says as he tosses it at His Pilot to catch and Identify.

While waiting for Briar to finish, Evon tends the wounds of the Banshees. He is trying to catch his breath before the sweep continues.

,,Sure, I am okay!" - said still breathing heavily - ,,I just need a moment! I definitely need to improve my training..."

Ral studies the blaster. "Yep. Serial number matches up with our squad". He holsters the his personal weapon and continues to scan the room.

Upon receiving the inquisitor's communication Briar, checks with the Stormtroopers to make sure before replying "The 2nd floor is secure inquisitor, I'm on my way." She finishes as she checks to make certain that everything is secure in the computer system, before heading back to the elevator, and down to the 3rd floor.

As the team quickly sweeps the 3rd and 4th floor Evon helps himself in the cafeteria. ,,What a wasteful bunch of beings. Leaving a nerf-sandwich, after a bite..." He grabs it and eats it hastily.

Rejoining the Inquisitor's team Evon applies a Stimpack to Ral. ,,I'm sorry lieutenant, you'll get a proper care, when the Inquisitor gives us some time until then I can only get you my special cocktail!" With that he injects the mix of bacta and painkillers.

"No problem. Thanks, Doc." Ral licks his lips as he feels the sensation of the concoction coursing through him. "Meilooruns? When did I eat meilooruns?"

Seeing the inquisitor pick up the disruptor, Den suddenly goes very still. He'd been using the weapon during the battle, but it's easy to keep it under the radar in the heat of combat. Still, the weapons were illegal, and he didn't know enough about the inquisitor to tell if he would take issue with its use. Violent issue.

Den sidles beside Ral, a half step behind and speaks in a low voice. "I don't know who owns that gun, but do you want me to hold onto it for you? You know, keep it safe so you don't have to carry it". Den was good at shooting, he was not good at subtly propositioning an imperial officer for illegal weaponry.

"Huh? Oh...yeah.. I guess. 'Sides, you're probably more qualified using it if need be," Ral stammers. It's not quite clear if he knows exactly what he is handing over. If the Inquisitor asks, he can just explain the he gave it to the more experienced marksman. He unslings the weapon and as he hands it over, he says "Just so you know mine on the Phantom is bigger."

Den takes back the rifle, slapping a hand onto the pilots shoulder with a firm grip. "True, true" he says in a low voice. "But what you have to remember is, what good is that giant gun when it's all the way up there, and mine is right here?" Den lets that hang in the air for a moment before bursting into a rueful chuckle. Slapping Ral on the shoulder Den moves ahead, shouldering the weapon as he prepares for whatever they found.

As Ral and Den talk the Inquisitor speaks up from behind them. “ I know the illegality of that weapon. But I don’t mind it’s use.” He sais looming over the Stormtrooper. “ I’m not some Prim and proper imperial officer, Sometimes Excessive force is necessary especially against Jedi. Stormtrooper, you will carry this heavy weapon as the gunner already carries the Rotary cannon.” He says gesturing to the Sargent.

Drogos then made his way to the ladder seeing that the Agent had collected what she could to continue their advance down into the rebel Base. Looking down the lift Shaft the Inquisitor noticed a shoddily put together floor it seems the Rebels had lost their tools, or had done a rushed job on the rest of the base.

Cutting through took mere moments, once finished Drogos stepped through.

Den stiffens up again as he hears the inquisitor loom behind him. You'd think by now he'd have learnt to check behind him for superiors when he talked, certainly after last time. He turns to face the inquisitor, clutching the weapon to his chest as he listens. "Erm, good to know, sir, inquisitor, sir". As he strides ahead, Den remembers to breath and falls in behind as the breach is made. Den half raises his rifle as he steps behind their leader, ready to shoot anything that moved, or didn't.

Breaching the 6th sublevel, the Inquisitor finds himself in an all-white room. A red sigil marks it as a medical facility. There is blood on the floor, mostly dried, but not old. Boot prints and the scuffs of droids, perhaps drag marks, lead to a door, a bloody handprint sprawled across the opening mechanism.

Hale moves in behind the Inquisitor, still treating his injured arm gingerly even though the painkillers prevent him from feeling anything. "Slowdive, Luks, stack up either side of the door. Backbeat, you're breaching." he orders.

Evon steps into the room after the troopers and looks around. The room is pretty well equipped, but nothing out of ordinary.

,,Agent, it looks like a standard infirmary. Nothing out of special. However, I can't get my head around the thought, why would they make so much effort to hide this deep a standard medical facility? Doesn't make much sense."

He starts to inspect the equipment closer.
