Reach of the Empire IC

“I have rendered the Pilot Unconscious.” He looks back to the cell he had exited “ You may aid me after she awakes for the next round of interrogations.” He pauses and continues to look around, “ Where are the others?”

Suited back up in the infamous white armour, Den shouldered the disruptor he had picked up on his previous mission. Nudging Hale with his elbow, Den grins under his helmet as he gestures to the gun. "Hey, going into this I bet you wish you had one of these, eh?"

Hale shakes his head, "I'd rather have my Z-6. You'll have to hold your fire unless things get really rough. Those puppies aren't known for their stun setting, and we're supposed to take them alive. They train us to be effective killing machines, and then they say 'take them alive'? What's the point of that? 'Ours not to reason why, ours but to do or die' I guess."

As soon as Evon gets the order, he leaves the patient to the droids. He is quickly changes to his field armor, and holsters his trusty Ghost. He is already en route to the elevator, when the Inquisitor reaches him.

,,My lord, I'm already on my way to the S16 lift as per our new orders."

Den turns a little in the cramped lift to better face Hale. "Well, we probably don't need them all alive, right? Anyway, if this baby disintegrates them, who's to say we didn't keep them all alive?" He would chuckle at (what was hopefully the joke. "Yours may be to do or die, mine is to just 'do', death doesn't get covered in my payslip".

Evon reaches the elevator a minute before the start. He goes through his syringe belt and takes out 3 greenish liquid filled needle.

,,Who wants a shot before start? A little aim assistant! It's my granny's favourite recipe!"

And he injects one of them to his thigh. He streches his leg a bit, then looks up the the rest of the task force. ,,Anyone? Hale? Hawk?"

When the teams are ready, the spacious service lift drops, pausing in its descent when it reaches the sublevels. The fwhhsh of a hatch opening below, then another drop. Then the doors open.

Not all can be seen immediately, by all operators, but this appears to be a heavily guarded security checkpoint. At least a dozen sentries in padded uniforms and heavy A280 pistols are taking positions behind a large desk, with a low plasteel wall extending from either side.

“G€t r£+¥.. n#!” The Commander and his team are first out, carbines firing selectively, but precisely. The first guard to go for the alarm perishes for his efforts, but the next manages to push the button. It does not appear the team is too interested in taking these guys alive.

There is no obvious alarm sounded, but the teams can assume their presence is now known. The rebel sentries return fire, and actually take down one of the death troopers in a hail of blaster fire.

Drogos steps off of the Elevator next after the Death Troopers, igniting the crimson blades of his Lightsaber to intimidate all who opposed him and his fellow imperials he strides into the fray caring not too much for cover. Watching the battle begin with the death of an Imperial he closed in on the Rebels who had taken cover and lifted his hand clenching his fist. As he did so an entire squad of the rebels lifted of the ground grasping at their necks for breath, The Inquisitor pulled them towards his side of the battlefield and left them all completely in the open. " Cover means nothing to me!" He said as the Rebels squirmed powerlessly in the air floating ever closer to the breaching Imperials at the lift, " Stormtroopers! Give them no Quarter." Drogos says with Sadistic Glee.

With the other team yanked unceremoniously from their positions, the remaining team has little choice. If they don’t move swiftly to replace them, the squad of death troopers will be flanking them behind the wall!

Boldly, but with trepidation, they advance toward the empire’s dark minions. Securing the edge of the low wall, they concentrate their fire on the Inquisitor, though his flickering blade sends most of the blasts skittering harmlessly away.

(13 dmg to Drogos, so I think 4 past Soak and Reflect?

Hale yells, "Fast, tight, and low, Banshees. Blast 'em!" then springs off towards the rebel fighters restrained by the Inquisitor. He flicks on his shock gloves with a gesture and lets out an animal roar as he charges the cluster. When he gets to the first soldier, a solid punch and ZzaaP! snaps his head back and sends him out cold. A flurry of blows takes out the next one, and his fist connects into the face of a third with the sickening, satisfying scrunch of a breaking nose. The blood spurts from his victim's nose, leaving splotches of blood on the stormtrooper's armor. As the third rebel falls unconscious, Hale resets to continue his assault on the remaining troopers.

Banshee squad strafes towards the right wall, laying down a sheet of suppressing fire that catches one unlucky rebel full in the face. "So much for 'alive'..." Slowdive mutters.

" ...The frak am I doing down here?" Somar thinks to himself as he takes position behind the wall of the lift. "This is SO not in my wheelhouse." He takes fire at the team's opponents, hoping to at least provide a little chaos to allow his colleagues to do their jobs more proficiently.

Briar looks down the hallway and begins to analyse the situation, "Troopers! cover the inquisitor and watch the crossfire." she says as she positions herself off to the side in the elevator, taking a few wide shots to discourage the rebels from firing back.

The stormtrooper would turn to face the scientist at the offer of an assist, a disgruntled look under his helmet. "I don't need an aim assist, I'm a member of the empire's elite! But yeah I'll take a shot". Den was never a fan of needles, and turns away as it is applied. Nodding to Evon. "Cheers doc, see you on the other side!"

Whooping loudly Den charges into the corridor, firing blindly from the hip. The disruptor bolts smash into the terrain with bright yellow crackles, disintegrating large chunks of area. "Whoo! Look at that sergeant major, even I can suppress enemies without killing them". Glancing across, Den sees the rebels struck down. With a shrug he reangles his aim. "Well, seals broken now anyway". Not bothering with cover himself he fires a series of short bursts, each one catching a target in the chest or head. Thanks to the weapon, there wasn't much left to confirm the kills with after.

Evon sees the Death Trooper getting hit by a plasma barrage and he instantly knows what to do. He rushes to the fallen soldier through the fire, crouching and removing the helmet quickly and efficiently. He stares at the creature in the black armor for a moment. ,,It's not human, that's highly unusual." He makes a mental note to mention this to Agent Briar later, but his body is already doing what he did for a thousand times. ,,Cleaning. Anesthetic. Bacta."

His hand moves quickly and the trooper opens its eye. ,,No sudden movement! You still have a fearsome wound!"

Quickly injecting the stim proffered by the doctor, Hawk unleashes a withering barrage, cutting down nearly every trooper in sight. twirling his pistol, he returns it to its holster.

The doors to the lift abruptly close.

Lt.Cdr. Somar is quite over the whole “diminutive droids coming out of the walls” thing, but it seems to happen to him more than the odds would dictate. Briar, also still in the lift, sees it too. The pilot readily recognizes it as an R-series astromech, though imperial pilots mostly disdain their use, as it rolls into the rear of the lift through a (now open) utility panel. Not as unnerving as the skittering spider droids, but disturbing nevertheless, under current circumstances.

It appears to have a manipulator arm still extended into the access panel, likely sliced into the operating system. Of more immediate concern, it promptly ejects a grenade canister, which does nothing to ease either of their nerves.

The blast throws those now trapped inside the lift into the walls, which are themselves buckling. The droid is also ripped from its position, and hurled across the lift, but it can be seen scrabbling to right itself. The pilot and intelligence officer find themselves wracked with a debilitating, nauseating pain. It takes a moment for them to even recognize the lingering effects as the result of a weaponized sonic device.

Outside the lift, and across the room, the death troopers approach and breach the door behind the desk. “Q£€@r!”

(Inside the lift, Briar

@Imperial Stormtrooper and Ral @bsmith23 take 11 Strain from the sonic grenade (unmodified for Soak, which applies); also 9 Wounds, from the Blast (also unmodified for Soak).

Briar pulls herself up off of the floor of the lift, she feels blood running from her nose due to her proximity to the blast. Taking quick aim at the astromech she fires a quick burst that hits the droid near the center blasting open its inner workings possibly disabling the droid, or at the very least frying a great number of circuits.

As the raid continues, Ral pays little notice to the astromech meandering around the lift. The next thing he knows, he is slumped up against the wall shaking off a SERIOUS bell-ringer, with Ostell looking just as bad. She turns her attention to the droid and opens fire.

" Aah, frak! Another droid?! That's it, I've HAD IT with these clankers!

Even though his and the Inspector's shots take out the squat little monster, Somar continues to expend the power pack on his blaster, just to be sure that even its Maker feels its demise. He takes time to reload, fires one more shot at it, then nervously prepares for whichever is going to try and get him next...

A solid Crack-zzap! under the chin of a fourth sends him smashing into the wall, out cold. Hale drives a fist into the stomach of the next one, doubling him over, only to bring up his knee in a vicious blow to the man's forehead, followed by a left hook that drops him, unconscious. The next one can only look on in terror, straining to move, as Hale strikes a quick one-two punch, directly to the rebel's face.

As the last one slumps to the floor, Hale takes stock of his surroundings. No sport in that. Next time they better figh- Hellllo... I knew it, dammit. I knew it. The Death Troopers are Squamatans! That must mean, aw, frag. The sixth is Crispy, ain't it?

Over the team's comms, hoping they haven't been tapped, he says "[Banshees, Death Troopers are Squamatans, sixth is prob'ly Crispin. Look sharp. Rest of you watch yourselves, things could get messy.]"

He moves quickly to the room breached by the Death Troopers, seeing two barracks rooms and a stateroom. No targets... Curious... He looks into the stateroom and notices scuff marks by the vent. Well... kriff. If the DTs go first, they can neutralize the target and prevent us getting any intel. But we don't want them behind us. If we go and they stay, they're with the soft-shells. If we stand here like fedejiks, they get away. AW FOR KRIFF'S SAKE.

Banshee squad moves quickly into position, following Hale.

Evon was already finished stopping the bleeding and he was about to start dressing the wound, when Hale's transmission came in. ,,Maybe you are right Hale, better safe, than sorry. I wish I had that bucket so I could talk about this!"

He rearranges himself, stepping over the trooper between it and its dropped rifle, also giving it a little kick, just to gain some distance.

Den twists around as he hears the dulled boom from within the closes lift. With a frown under his helmet he sets the disruptor against the wall as he draws his knife. Jamming the blade into the gap he forces it open a fraction with the awful screech of metal. Sheathing the blade he forces his fingers into the gap, and with a mighty strain slowly begins to force the doors back up. When it was wide enough he forces his body into the gap so he can use his legs to push the rest of the way. Glancing down panting, he spots his allies and offers them a hand out. "Did you two get into an argument while I wasn't looking?" the duros jokes before pausing as he hears Hale's message. Glancing to the others he nods in the direction, but mutters quietly to them "hang back a little bit, just in case". With that Den goes to follow the sergeant major.

Evon moves quickly thanks to the adrenaline rush. He takes the dizzy trooper's explosives then grab its repeating pistol. Setting it to stun, he steppes away and points it to the trooper. ,,Don't even think about moving!"

Switching to the task force's channel he calls out Briar. ,,Agent Ostell, I have 1 of them at gun point. Any new orders? Sergeant Hale, where are the rest of them? Anyone need medical attention?

Now with the heavy blaster rifles and a disruptor backing him up, Hale barks at the five remaining Death Troopers. "Drop 'em! Hands on top of your heads and no sudden movements . I knew there was something fishy about you six..."

Sorry! I couldn't help it.

:D

“Stand down, Sergeant Major. Your vigilance is commendable, but misplaced. We are on the same side. Stand down. That is an order.” The Commander’s own E-11D is not quite pointed at Hale, but it isn’t far off...

Hale chuckles, pistol still levelled at the Death Trooper, "I tackled an Inquisitor a few days ago, don't test me. Drop it now . Then we'll sort this out."
