Any new developments on this? If not, would it be possible to get it as is now and calculate power manually?
Starship Construction Utility RTSU v1.41 Published
Bobh wrote a really convoluted piece of spreadsheet here and it's hard to sort it out exactly.

At this point I've pretty much scrapped his sheet and am reworking it. I'm a bit busy with work and uni at the moment, though. Hopefully I'll have something workable by Monday.
Hoping against hope that there has been some progress on this. Anything coming together?
Why is such a useful tool as this, dead? While I myself am incapable of creating something of this nature, I am pleading to the general public to see if this ship creator can be further enhanced and updated to the current specs of the game and its releases. I realize that it could take some time, but if anything this post will move up the thread again and maybe inspire someone else to take over...
Original author bailed and I got busy with Uni so never got around to writing up the new version. *shrug*
Well, its convoluted because I built it on the fly. Anyone interested in it anymore?
If yes, I can start updating it. I've been distracted for months but now that the holidays are here i'm getting some free time.
First can anyone name the releases that have ANY components i need to add by book name so I can go out and buy them?
Into the Storm should definitely be on the list. There are a few new ship types and more ship equipment.
Edge of the Abyss has a couple of new ships, but no information on their SP cost, so this book may not be that useful for ship building purposes. I don't recall if it has any new ship components.
bobh - welcome back
Your SCU was a most useful too and I look forward to see it being updated, especially now there are a few alien hulls turning up and with "Battlefleet Koronus" on the horizon.
DW
Thanks. I look forward to finishing the random ship generator as well.
Picked up a copy of into the storm today. I'm leaning toward creating a new 'tab' for each supplement rather than reshuffling everything when a new supplement hits the shelves.

A good idea, I'd say.

Um, sorry bobh, but you had the spelling right: it is Geller (as in Yuri Geller), not Gellar (as in Sarah Michelle Gellar). Common mistake, and one which always bugs me when I come across it.
Everything I've checked on says that the correct spelling should be Gellar. The Geller spelling shows up in the RT Core, but after that the Gellar spelling appears regularly (EotA, LotE, and ItS), so I'm inclined to go with the newer sources (especially considering how many typos and errors are in the RT Core). FWIW, Lexicanum also uses the Gellar spelling.
If I can remember i'll add a field where you can choose the spelling. Might be the best way I can solve the dilemma

But every other source, from the original Rogue Trader, through various White Dwarfs, and at least 3 editions of 40k up until the release of the 40k rp games has either used Geller, or has used Gellar and followed it with a fairly rapid correction. I even recall Rick Priestley outright stating it was an intentional homage to Yuri Geller in one interview (around GD '98, IIRC).
That said, the two are phonetically and phonemically identical, so unless, like me, you're the type to stress over the accidental substitution of a homophone, it probably isn't that important.
THat must be why, every time the Geller/Gellar field was mentioned in the presence of my enginseer he muttered: "It bends spoons, wot?"

Besides which, divergent spellings of commonplace nouns happens in the real world fairly frequently (this discussion is a perfect example) so why shouldn't the same thing happen in the Imperium of the 41st millennium? Maybe lots of people (even most of them) in the game universe think it's spelled Gellar and go about their business on that assumption.
1.4 is underway
Started adding Background Packages, added the logic to null the PH/MSO on the Character Sheet if a BP is chosen. Coded 'Planet Bound for Millennia'. Still need to add logic for adding the BP Modifiers to the Character Sheet.
To DO:
Background Packages: (need to add BP logic to add mods to Character Sheet)
- Thulian Explorator Vessel
- Reaver of the Unbeholden Reaches
- Veteran of the Angevin Crusade
- Vessel of the Fleet
- Planet-Bound for Millennia (ADDED 12/15/2010)
Hulls:
Will not attempt yet as CUSTOM HULL feature allows you to add any hull you wish on the fly. I might pick up where I left off in version 2 and add these hulls to that spreadsheet (which is still a work in progress, BUT it has a huge capacity to add in extra hulls where the original versions 1+ do not).
Will add more as I read through the components and finish up Background Packages.
Hello [HappyDaze],
In answer to your question, Gellar, both, and both. Spelling "Gellar" as "Geller" is an error we hope to correct in the future. The other two are simply variations of similar words.
Hope this helps,
Sam Stewart
RPG Designer
Fantasy Flight Games
Feller Field, catchy isn't it.

Finished
Essential Components : Plasma Drives (ADDED/FINISHED 12/17/2010)
Reworked the sheet to allow for more drives in the future, included the four in ItS
- Jovian Pattern, 'Warcruiser' Drive (Light Cruiser)
- Jovian Pattern, 'Warcruiser' Drive (Cruiser)
- Lathe Pattern, 2a Drive (Transports)
- Lathe Pattern, 2b 'Escort' Drive (Raider, Frigate Class)
Background Packages:
- Thulian Explorator Vessel (ADDED 12/17/2010)
- Reaver of the Unbeholden Reaches (ADDED 12/17/2010)
- Veteran of the Angevin Crusade (ADDED 12/17/2010)
- Vessel of the Fleet (ADDED 12/17/2010)
- Planet-Bound for Millennia (ADDED 12/15/2010)
Added Logic to Change Title from Machine Spirit Oddity/Past History to Background Package on Character Sheet depending on which type is chosen. If a BP is chosen only Background Package title will appear on the Character Sheet. If a BP and MSO/PH are chosen only the BP should appear on the Character Sheet.
Added BP logic to add mods to Character Sheet.
Notes:
Just realized that before I left off developin the SCU I pulled in the v2 hull scheme. So adding those new hulls to this version so they appear in the pulldown menu will be easy. You won't have to use the custom hull option as I had thought earlier.
Will put off Quality Modifiers of components until version 2...waiting for FFG to get a comprehensive list going before I dive into that.

HULLS Added: 12-19-2010
Finished reworking spreadsheet logic to allow for easy addition of non-conjectural hulls in future. Realized that before I left off developing the RTSU I pulled the RTSUv2 hull scheme (its easier to add hulls in the v2 scheme). So adding those new hulls to this version so they appear in the pulldown menu will be easy. You won't have to use the custom hull option as I had thought earlier.
The following Hulls can now be selected in the BUILD page via down menu.
- LOKI Class Q-Ship
- ORION Class Star Clipper
- COBRA Class Destroyer
- SECUTOR Class Monitor Cruiser
- LATHE Class Monitor Cruiser
- TYRANT Class Cruiser

Added:
Markov 1 and 2 Warp Drives, logic to add a few more for the next supplement and character sheet logic for the display of said drives.
Emergency Field modifier for Geller field and Warpsbane Hull. Modified logic to properly display said modifier on the character sheet.
Update DEC 23 - version 1.4 is underway
All the Essential Components from Into the Storm are added/finished. All the revisions allowed me to easily see some bugs that were hiding; fixed them.
FIXED
- A bug adding 10 to command for having a Modified Drive . Should have been added if Bridge of Antiquity was selected, not Modified Drive .
- Navigation modifiers on the sheet for Ship Masters Bridge were not displaying on the character sheet.
- Bridge of Antiquity selection was not increasing manoeuvrability by 5.
- Choosing Commerce Bridge added 50 Ballistic Skill.
- Choosing Combat Bridge Added Ballistic Skill modifiers.
ALTERATIONS
- Decided to add Command bonus to Defensive Hit & Run and Boarding Actions modifiers block.
VOID SHIELDS
- Added Castellan Void Shield (Archeotech) (All)
- Added Castellan Dual Void Shield Array (Archeotech) (C+)
- Added Repulsor Void Shield (All)
- Added Repulsor Dual Void Shield Array (C+)
- Added conjectural Castellan Triple (BC+) and Quad (BB+) Void Shield Arrays
- Added conjectural Repulsor Triple (BC+) and Quad (BB+) Void Shield Arrays
BRIDGE
- Exploration Bridge added.
- Consolidated Bridge of Antiquity under Ships Bridge Drop down on BUILD page.
- Removed Check Box under Archeotech for Bridge of Antiquity .
- Completely reworked the logic and BUILD sheet down for bridge selection. Now you can choose the exact type of bridge you want, even if that type is normally reserved for specific vessel types. Your gm will see this as the output specifies what type of vessel the bridge is normally for (T,R,F) so pick the correct kind.
CREW QUARTERS
- Clan-Kin Quarters added.
- Cold Quarters added.
- Conjectural Clan-Kin Quarters for BC+ and BB+ vessels added.
- Conjectural Cold Quarters for BC+ and BB+ vessels added.
- Reworking crew quarters so they can be chosen by hull class to simplify the calculations in the sheet, the logic for the character sheet and enable additional crew quarter types in future.
- Example choices on the BUILD sheet:
Pressed Crew Quarters (T,R,F)
Pressed Crew Quarters (LC,C)
Pressed Crew Quarters (BC+)
Voidsmans Quarters (T,R,F)
Voidsmans Quarters (LC,C)
Voidsmans Quarters (BC+)
Clan-Kin Quarters (T,R,F)
Clan-Kin Quarters (LC,C)
Clan-Kin Quarters (BC+)
Cold Quarters (T,R,F)
Cold Quarters (LC,C)
Cold Quarters (BC+)
