While the wings are cut in a way that's reminiscent of those, they look like TIE fighter wings were cut up. Might use some parts from a skiff but I'm going to disagree that it's not space-worthy. Maybe operating the turret externally is (without a suit, at least) but the ship itself almost definitely came from space to attack the platform.

Cap, the helm is also open to space. In front of the pintle, across the flat space from it. :)

Hmm. Maybe. I don't think they have a base on planet, though. I suppose they might. I guess the second possibility is they have a large carrier ship but we haven't had indication of that yet, either.

Of course, I'm not certain if we've seen that particular one of their ships on screen yet. I'd have to back and pause frames. The more a-wing-ish looking ones are the only ones I know we've seen.

the top right looks like an AT-DP head/body with a canopy pressed into the front.

Bottom right looks like it has v-wing foils attached to the interceptor or TIE Striker wings.

I remember the Shuttle from a cell shared a month or so ago. It was being escorted by 3 of the a-wing-ish ones in that image. The two fighters both look like someone scavenged the entire wing off a TIE/IN (the top one from a Royal Guard variant, the little flap on its bottom is angled right) and used it as the base for the rest of a fighter.

I see it. From the engine placement on that one it looks like they've got the powerplant for the fighter in that section.

I know Star Wars names can be silly sometimes but come on!

Bullseye.

New ep dropped early on streaming again. I think that's just going to be a regular thing now. Was pretty good.

Like normal I think the episode had some pacing issues. I can't put my finger on it but it just feels like some of the character interactions happen too quickly, like the bits there but the time needed for it isn't.

New ships in this episode though, so thats nice even if I wasn't too into them at this moment.

Worse pacing than a kids show normally has?

Depends on the show, some do good with their pacing, others not so well. On one end there is Last Airbender which was pretty good on its pacing and on the other is Steven Universe with its pacing though lots of that one comes down not so much to the pacing in the episodes but the order of the episodes/pacing of episodes.

I'd just wish that Resistance did better at it, to really try and sell the moments that they want to rather than just being too fast paced and not giving the characters much time to reflect and grow. I think on a per episode basis Rebels was better paced, hopefully the team on Resistance will get better at it too.

I can agree that the pacing is awkward at times. Same was true for the previous Star Wars animated shows, but perhaps not in the same way.

Hopefully we'll see concept art for both of thew racers tomorrow on starwars.com.

Agreed, and I suspect we will. I'm sure either you are I will end up posting the concept art of them up here. I don't think either stood out much to me but still hoping to see more and more ship stuff.

Next week looks like we get some more of Torra and Hype so that should be good but the week after will likely be one people are more excited for as Poe and Phasma will be showing up.

I kinda liked that one TIE Fighter-podded ship that was trying to play a little dirty in the race. Wouldn't mind seeing more details on that one.

We got a good look at it a few months ago, this is from one of the production trailers.

Mel also did a miniature of it on Shapeways.

Seeing the Guavian Death Gang again was neat.

Notes about the episode:

The original plan for the episode was for Han Solo to show up but they decided to instead have someone of importance to Yeager's past.

Oplock is a Mountain Nikto.

Speedstar's racer has a repurposed X-Wing cockpit. They also stated that the overall look was based on an SR-71 Blackbird but that the different forms that make it up were conceptually based on Y-Wings.

Meanwhile Yeager's ship was meant to reference the Bell X-1 (a nod to Chuck Yeager) combined with OT-era starfighters, and was meant to look closer to a starfighter than a flashy racer.

I also think it's interesting that only Griff was seen firing his weapons in this race. There was no attention brought to this so I have to assume it wasn't an illegal move but maybe just seen by most racers as dishonorable, or something?

Even with the purple (not a fan of the color, but it works here) and the position of the guns, I like this one...

Where are the pirates based?

On the same planet or another one?

I haven’t caught up on the last four eps so pardon me if this is explained.

It has not been explained. There's a possibility it's on the same planet as there's a concept art that at least some of us are saying has to be an atmospheric craft but we haven't seen it on screen AFAIK. They could be operating from the asteroid field shown in one of the episodes. That's a classic pirate-base location if any.

Wing guns are definitely angled out too far for sure. I wonder if the points at the front of the main hull are also weapons or some kind of sensors.

Maybe, but it is probably best to chalk it up to either artistic license or them not being parallel at a min due to angle of the ship in the still. Honestly, I just don't like wingtip mounted weapons period, "gimbaled" or not. Their convergence zones suck.

Would it hurt if they used some Legends ships instead of creating dozens of those meaningless designs?

To many, the legends stuff is meaningless..
