so here's a random (literally just the first one i saw) t70 game off GSP, skipped to a random turn, which while equally unrealistic (in-game decisions would obviously have branched into a different timeline with different upgrades) is maybe more useful

heres the second random game i saw

speed two repositions are strong! really strong! so strong we normally relegate them to the system phase!

You don't address my points. It's an expensive T70. 2 Agility. Single mod unless Nien does a red maneuver. With rather bad wingmen.

A single card does not make a good ship, and a good ship does not make a good list.

A single card does not make a good ship, and a good ship does not make a good list.

There’s points both sides here that aren’t getting recognition.

@svelok is not wrong that these maneuvering options on Nien or Poe are potentially very powerful. 2 agility may not be that big a problem if you’re moving last and have both B1 and Overdrive to bail you out of a tough spot. The T70 also has enough health to get you out of at least one minor mistake per game.

You're not wrong that the list sacrifices a lot of points for this one ship. The rest of the list would be quite limited and I don’t believe Resistance is set for a two ship list... And yes, if the Resistance player isn’t moving last all these movement options become less powerful and too expensive.

The ultimate answer is we will have to wait and see what’s legal and where the points fall before we start list building doomsday scenarios.

But he's not just saying that they are potentially very powerfull. He said himself he's panicking about overdrive.

He also explicitly said that Poe is not problematic with it. Nien is i5 only, and single action unless he takes red maneuvers or closes s foils.

The maneuvering can be powerful, I never said anything to the contrary. But the list with this piece won't break or dominate or even form any meta. Which is when panic would be justified.

It is careless to conjure up an unnecessary panic in a moment when there's so much insecurity in the community. Just don't.

Which piece? One of the pilots or the overdrive upgrade?

I think if priced around Afterburners, it'll be stapled to most "old" Poes in the same frequency as R4.

Nien with Overdrive seems to be the problem. He said himself Poe is not a problem with overdrive 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ah, gotcha. People will do some cool, crazy stuff with Nien, but I'd be shocked that took off any more than when he first hit the scene.

Poe with overdrive might finally become a proper arcdodger, although a kinda pricey one and still handicapped by a restricted access to barrel rolls.

Would he be too much? Maybe. We will see, it depends on how much overdrive costs. 2 banks boosts to pass through an otherwise undodgiable position seems very nice thought.

But those purely theoretically out of any real game situation pictures with flowers of possible manouvers are totally laughable

I keep thinking about Quickdraw + 3 Silencers.

may just be a fort hyperspace thing but I think there’s better ace+3 options in the faction. Had a lot of fun today with Kylo and 3 Provocateurs today, despite having been kinda tentative in my support of the list. Generic silencers feel good though, I also played Kylo+Engineer+3FO and liked it. I may be interested in trying out Holo with three Silencers.

I think we should all wait and see how it performs in real life action before panicking over it upfront.

And even if it turns out to be to good we will only have to suffer it for some months before it gets nerfed out of the meta.

shocking to me, and contrary to my past expectations, I think spammable non-ensnare Nantex are actually really wholesome and fun

on the other hand, they don't do damage to a lot things without crack shot, which seems unaffordable to them even if it was added to my format of choice, so A Bug's Life remains on the dusty shelf I guess

New Points lists played so far:

- Obi Plo Broadside Torrent Torrent

- Obi Plo Lumi Torrent Torrent

- Vader Duchess Baron Baron Baron

- Vader Duchess 5th 7th

- Vonreg France Scorch Longshot Rivas

Things I want to test:

- Obi Plo Ric Torrent Torrent

- Obi Plo Goji Torrent Torrent

- Kylo France Rivas Ep Ep

- Holo France Ep Ep Ep Ep

- Vonreg Holo Scorch Longshot Rivas

- 5th 7th Baron Baron Baron Baron

Its interesting how much more fun Republic is with Torrents available again. They are not particularly good on their own but having filler ships that always engage makes running CLT Obi and Plo much less boring. Also those two jedi hit like Kylo against anything that moves before them and the squad makes it much easier to corral things that move after them to line up bullseye. Once again there are tons of reasonable looking lists in hyperspace to try. FO usually seems to have points left over for 1 more talent than it did before which is helpful. Empire Barons are super fun to and one of my new favorite ships.

The Xi shuttle, laat, and hmp are going to shake things up even more next month. Curious if these two lists will fit if one of the LAATs is 45 pts and if Hask is roughly France cost.

- Kylo Xi Fo Fo Fo

- Obi Plo Laat Torrent Torrent

Haven't even gotten to messing around with Rebels yet or the z95 in Scum.

Always feels like this after New Points or New Ships:

Kylo + 3 Provocateurs... Potentially 4 double-mod 3 dice attacks.

Exactly the same boat here. I still don’t think I’ve drawn a firm conclusion on how strong it is after the same number of games. It’s definitely interesting to fly, though.

Mostly it just makes me wish the Nantex looked cooler. The end goal when I bought my core set of a cool X-Wing and two slick TIE Fighters was certainly not that one day I would be flying five tiny clothespins.

SAME TEAM

Is it worth finding another place to talk about how to fly it?

I’m thinking clouds are the way to go for obstacles, grievous on one side and all the beaks on the other. Side turrets and orbiting gets the most shots, but the bullseyes are where the real damage comes in. Grievous mostly just rabbits and tries not to die in all my games so far.

From buying collections, I have copious numbers of Starvipers. I'm contemplating taking some starviper wings and figuring out a way to add them to the nantex so as to play up the bug motif. Will I? Probably not.

Please do start a post. I want to sponge from others experiences. So far, Grievious flanking seems wise. The Nantexes seem to knife fight really well, if you can get in without being exploded.

Sure! I don't have time today to give real complete thoughts but if someone starts a post I'll chime in later.

Aiight, I volunteer as tribute.

For what it’s worth (aka sorry for not putting this in the other thread), this is exactly how I’ve been flying it too, same obstacles, same deployment. Figuring out the balance of when to go greedy for bullseye shots and when to use the turret for the current turn vs. the next turn feels like the tricky part.
