Most players have settled in to tracking Boba and CIS in hyperspace. For good reason, they are excellent options. Quick Ramble on other things that might work ok against both matchups if played well (likely super wrong about a few of these). Assumes typical win condition against Boba is to destroy his friends first and get half on Boba at time. Also assumes typical win condition against CIS is to be able to init kill stack and have a couple bodies to sacrifice in the process. Full Destruction is usually not my goal vs either list. Id typically defer to matchup data but that is somewhat thin still at this stage. Below are archetypes I think I am comfortable using against Boba or CIS. Alot of these are questionable, just curious on opinions. At this stage I have the most reps with various FO and Resistance archetypes where I have settled into several lists I trust against the field, mostly because you can get kinda high ship counts paired with high init. The other factions are a grey area for me.

cant out bid boba fen, unironic walk me through the vonreg part please. Side note, i still havent gotten my wave 6 order from miniature market that was placed a month ago as a pre order. No one buy from miniature market, they are awful and incompetent.

That kylo vonreg/Holo +2 has huge problems against high agility swarms and vultures. Vonreg does kind of keep boba in check, but Fenn becomes very scary very quickly.

Why is there no love for Ember? Vonreg Ember + 3, for example.

I don't believe that. i4 is high enough to arcdodge a lot of things right now. And his ability means he can keep the focus for defense. It's functionally really similar to Midnight for a ton of opponents - but action efficient. Most defend with focus/calc anyway. Force and evade are by far not as frequent, and the rest like concordia is even more niche

That one turn with an arc dodge will REALLY hurt

I don't know...from my experience the /ba has to opt in or opt out of engagements. Holo can kind of do both, but the others can't. That's assuming their opponent doesn't just let them.

The midnight comp is pretty bad, embers opponents can still spend locks, evades and passive mods against ember, if embers ability is even on. People take force, they take evade and target lock actions, especially if they're reading your cards. The one advantage holo has is its theoretically easier to set him up since you're just looking for a damaged ship but even then, during the combat your opponent can see you have ember, and make good choices with thier token spending. Nevermind that midnight is also ten points less.

For two points more you get I5 and an ability that's useful almost every single turn. Ember certainly seems worth something over a provocateur, but it's an extra 7 and the provocateur already seems on the costly side. Don't get me wrong; I'm a big believer in I4, but Holo's ability is extremely versatile whereas Ember's largely requires precise play and an obliging opponent. I do think Ember's good, but 2 points is just too similar.

Even flying 5X I'd be more scared of Holo. What will those 2 extra points get you in a list?

simple, get boba to forget slave 1 and his repo actions, and also maul and his pilot ability, and also reinforce. Once you've done that, you're free to put damage into him
