Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

I think I'll make a proper thread.

I have now 13 tournaments with 529 lists in swiss and 84 in cut (15.87% conversion rate). These recent trials had often smaller cuts. Please keep in mind that players dropping after swiss will skew the results. It looks like that happened several times, so all the cut data is maybe a bit wonky.

I'm thinking of adjusting my stuff again some more. E.g. I'd like to get a stronger focus on wins/losses instead of the current focus on conversion rate. And I'd love to handle two sets at the same time, e.g. wave 2 vs wave 3.

But I'll do the preliminary wave 3 first

This.

True, but little we can do about that.

Can anyone confirm that the trial in Flink had only 3 rounds of swiss?!

And Wyoming played 5 rounds of swiss?

Do the list fortress submissions regularly include the "Did player drop" data? Or is that dependent on the tournament software?

Confirmed. There was some difficulty with the venue last minute, and a mad dash scramble to get a new one. The number of rounds suffered for it.

I didn't list any drops because I used phone pictures of standings, but I know a few were in there.

just because a player dropped, if they earned a top 16, I care about that data.

listjuggler had that, listfortress doesn't.

The effect is that I can't know whether someone went 1-3 or 1-5 in 6 rounds. I have to assume the latter, but that could potentially badly affect win/loss.

Fair. Rare, but that does happen. Wasn't sure if that was more important than scrubbing noise from a bunch of 1-2 drops that populated the bottom half of lists.

It maybe the amount of people that have seen it have success (specifically Poe/Bastian as the XX part) from Mikhail Jenkins and Andrew Cox. They might just try to pick it up and find out it's not as easy as Rebel flying. I think that as much as we believe Resistance might be a bit ahead of the power curve, at least with the RZ2 lower cost for easier list building, they still take a good pilot to perform at a consistently high level. That is likely true for not only XXAA, but 5As.

I will say this weekend, i saw some, let's call it questionable xxaa flying. Xxaa might also be hurt by the 4 resistance i5s occupuying the same spot for statistical purposes. I at least think the nien +ello version is dramatically inferior to the poe+ i1/bastien version

just found an error: the santa clara hyperspace didn't want to give me cut information. I'll triple check stuff for the eventual thread

huh, interesting: it wasn't entered yet when I downloaded the data, but it is by now

Wyoming did 6 rounds of Swiss I think, but there were no undefeated players.

Turr is a lot of fun in a beef meta. Yolo up to someone at range one, attack, then boost/BR to get out of arc.

Something something....

funny, same thing happened for maryland.

The csv I have lacks the topcut info oO

Had to add a picture because I can hardly believe it myself!

edit: one important change is that the cut conversion is now at 22%, and I have 530 lists for swiss and 116 in the cut. That's much better than the previous 76. This might get interesting after all

When he walks, do you think it makes the noise like hooves on a pavement?

A man (person) with an invite is a man (person) that is willing to experiment.

You really want guri to move last

Seeing the confused react, yeah, he's experimenting. But he got his Worlds ticket with triple T-70, which no one else is playing (to a high level). He top 8-ed another HT with Poe/Nien and just topped swiss with Guri/Fenn. That's a fun, unique approach to the game, with great results, that I think is worth celebrating.

He also got conceded to in finals, and I'm not hearing a real game in top 4... so...

...so?

I think I'd phrase it more like most players don't like it when their opponent gets to play the game
