Star Wars: In The Pits OOC

I'm sticking to melee combat as a primary way of attack. No one is gonna stop me from taking a stick into a Bar. I just need to work on the character, I'll give the 9000gc to the communal pool since I have no way of realisticly explaining why my character would have a Lightsaber and we can certainly earn it through play. I'm gonna play a Zabrak, can he be from Dathomir? I was thinking he was stolen and is property of Zero the Hutt?

As a backstory, we can say that you are rented from Zero, to protect our growing enterprise. What do you think?

Also, are you saying that you forgo getting a lightsaber, and give 9000 credits for the group to use?

Or you could be a "Fighting Team" n the same way a motorsports team is often business or in the vein of WWE!

Or we can start like that (I would still like to later expand into other venues). As an entertainment venue, it offers Charm as a career skill. Could prove useful mechanically, as we seem to lack social skills (I have Cunning 3, Lutrina has Willpower 3, and the highest Presence we have is 2). But a repair shop could give us Mechanics as a career skill, and a place to make things with that skill, as well as repair the speeder when needed.

Yes I forgo the credits, not much use for that much credits if I'm pressed into servitude.

Are we not fighting in Zero's arena?

@Richardbuxton could I have a list of all the possible Obligations I only have The EOTE CRB and No Disintegrations out of the EOTE line.

We are, as far as I know, but that is not all we are going to do. This is a way to justify why you aren't stuck in the pits.

Ok, I get you now, sure that makes sense to me then.

So I can imagine a situation similar to the old Gladiator schools in roman times. Fighters train and fight together either professionally or as property of an "owner" such as Zero. Zero owns a venue, he also owns some fighters, some professionals are sponsored too. There are other venues too, and other fighter schools. You could be the owners of a Fighting school (probably Athletics and Resilience for skills) with the possibility to expand it into other areas of Pit Fighting such as equipment and arena maintenance.

Here is a rough outline of what I expect you guys to get up to in the game:

Fighting in tournaments held by Zero or other arenas. I plan on these being dynamic and more complex than just an empty arena. Things like mazes, "capture the flag" and even large arenas with vehicles provided to "spice things up".

Zero is bound to have other "needs" that he requires help with, things such as rival gangs, missing people, escort duties and most importantly hype building of upcoming fights with public appearances.

Also, with the money donated by Shlambate we can think of buying either a truck, an airspeeder, or two heavy bikes, as opposed to a passenger landspeeder, or we can put a weapon on that landspeeder. We can also spend the money to upgrade our business (assuming we agree on that group resource).

Regarding possible ways to upgrade the business:

  • We could increase the Core Focus a couple of times regardless of which venue we go.
  • If we go the repair shop route, we could buy a Special License and Special Orders upgrades to be able to 'legally' operate on the arena's droids and equipment and to be able to order relevant spare parts.
  • If we go the Schola Gladiatoria route, we can take Special License to be able to train the fighters owned by Zero, as well as just expand the Core Focus further and increase Security.

Business options

Ok seeing as we are mostly in the Arena of Narshada, I was thinking that since my Presence is poop at 1 and my Will is a 4 I could be a Heel and be the guy the Crowd loves to hate? It could especially effective since my Coercion will be good.

Ok so here is what I have so far http://swsheets.com/c/aqzfvzaqb--bull-

I repurposed a character that i was using for another campaign but it died all to quickly. I'll get to a background and obligation when I have more free time.

@Richardbuxton EOTE like FAD in the each Sourcebook releases more Obligations/Moralities if so I'd like to know if there is more to choose from.

There are a lot. I'm AFB until next Monday so unless someone else can pm you then the list will have to wait.

Ok I'll wait for it then.

So. For group resource I like either a Mechanics shop or the "Fight Club" ideas presented earlier.

I'm thinking 500 credits a piece for my Vamblades to get one of the Pierce mods on the MonoMolecular Edge Upgrade. Does that sound reasonable? Then I'll send the rest of the money into the communal speeder pot.

500 sounds fine.

I don't think you can mod a bat, are their any other weapons with disorient that are melee that I should consider?

Snap Baton (+1 Damage only, but 1 HP)

Staff of Office (+2 Damage and 2 HP)

How much? Oh and what's their Disorient value.

Snap is 50, Staff is 350. Both Disorient 2. Staff also has Defensive 1

The staff looks interesting I think I'll buy it, now what mods can I get? I'm AFB at the moment.

Neuronic Whip (+1 Damage, Disorient 4, Ensnare 1, Stun Setting, hits up to Short range, 1 HP), Stun Baton (+2 Damage, Crit 6, Disorient 2, Stun Setting, 2 HP).

The whip would be awesome in a pit fight!

The best attachment I can see is Weighted Head, it can be modded for +1 damage and Concussive +1. The attachment itself gives +1 damage.

Oh I forgot about the whip. That would be cool.

I could contribute 1000 credits, bit I,m saving up for cybernetic stuff

Looking over the list that Arctaanar has given me, (Thanks) Could I use a score to settle with Zero? I was thinking Bull would be tied to another group wronging him in the past, and Zero agreed to help if Bull became one of his Gladiators?

Score to settle usually means that you're trying to get revenge on the party involved. If I understand you properly then Bull has a score to settle with this as yet undetermined group. Zero is now waiting for Bull to work up enough favour before he will commit to helping.

So, my Selonian is finished. Working up another character as a second option who is part Medic. I'll post it by the end of the day, whichever one we think will be better for the team I'll go with.

I only have to write down my character's backstory and physical description. Will most likely not do so until Friday (graduation paper 'defence' (I have yet to look up what is the proper term in English)). I do want for everyone to finish with their equipment, so that I can think of how the remainder can be spent on our group resources.

I apologise for reusing the name.
