Star Wars: In The Pits OOC

By Richardbuxton, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

Is Michael heading in the general direction of Vyrr or just as straight as you can through the middle?

NPC up next, they don't do anything obvious, @Shlambate can you roll a Vigilance check for Bull; Hard check, upgraded twice, 2 Setback. Then I'll narrate the outcome.

So AAAACCDSS?

Like this?

Vigilance : 4eA+2eC+1eD+2eS 1 failure, 1 threat, 1 Despair

Hope that Richardbuxton posts soon.

Sevrath and Bull both suffer a strain and a setback to their next check due to the food flying their way.

Sorry it took a while, busy Sunday/Monday

Alright then, can I make it to the center of the arena with my two maneuvers?

As for an action I'm thinking, either coercion to get the crowd in check, they should know this is Bull they are dealing with or Athletics to get to the center quicker, unless I can Scare the beast out of hiding?

I respond in the morning with a post when I know what I can do.

Athletics will certainly help get you closer to the centre, it's much faster jumping over the walls than going around. With a manoeuvre you can get closer to a good spot to jump, then an Athletics action to jump walls then another manoeuvre and you will be at close range to the centre of the arena. Essentially at an opening between walls looking into the centre small area.

Ok Bull will make an athletics check to vault the wall to get closer to the beasts.

Is it an average Check with Boost and setback due to the food and Bull being so tall that getting over the wall isn't so bad?

Correct. Let's flip a DP to add in a challenge dice for that difficulty too ;)

Well @Richardbuxton , I'll flip one right back. ;)

Wall Vaulting (Athletics Check) : 2eP+3eA+1eB+1eC+1eD+1eS 4 successes, 1 threat

Truly an Olympian performance, four successes. You get to spend the Threat as you please. Once you have I'll write something up.

Strain seems most appropriate for this check. What manner of awesomeness did Bull achieve while leaping from wall to wall?

I was thinking he could Vault over the wall with his staff, 4 successes should mean he gets his staff over too.

I'll go write that up now.

Bull's not a talker in the pit at least. He has to keep Kayfabe.

So if I read fearsome correctly I force enemies who enter my engaged range to make fear checks at Hard due to me have 3 ranks I'd like to narrate what Bull does if the beastie fails.

Sure.

So in preparation for my turn, can I get close to where either Bull or the beasties are?

The only beasts the group has seen are dead, the rest still lurk in the twisting walls of the maze. Catching up with Bull will take 2 manoeuvres and an athletics check Action just like Bull to jump the walls. To head towards Vyrr your probably 3 manoeuvres away from him by heading to one side of the arena. Otherwise you can head your own way into the maze and try flushing them out.

Mind you, Vyrr didn't say where he moved after killing the first batch of enemies.

Hope that we aren't staying silent for long. Probably should discuss something while Revanchist prepares their post in order to not lose momentum.

Do we know anything about the other beast or beast pack?

Not really, your familiarity with pit fights tells you it's probably more of the same, but that's no sure bet.

Do any of you spot familiar faces in the crowd?

Would any of our NPC's be there?

Definitely.

The yet to be named Devaronian is undoubtedly mingling in the crowd, making bets, making deals and keeping up appearances.

The Doc is sitting in a private booth reserved for your teams officials. His clinical demeanour and expressionless face isn't giving anything away, to this Trandoshians there is no honour in spoiling the hunt. He will probably be a wealth of information after the figh is finished though.

The other two are probably somewhere here but you haven't spotted them yet.

A couple of questions.

1. If I notice what seems to be the remaininga enemy and it is a beast, am I allowed to make a Knowledge (Xenology) check as an incidental to establish how well Vyrr knows the species.

2. I don't necessarily request answering this one, just asking to think of how to do this in advance. What skill checks do I make to lure a beast in a closeable gateway before closing it, aiming to dismember it?

1. Probably

2. There are not really any gates that would be able to act as a knife. The walls just go up and down without pushing against anything. If a walls down you can walk through, if it's up then it's a wall.

Can we spend a DP so that there are some gateways that can be used as a knife? After all, it hasn't been established in the IC thread that there are no such gateways. And using those would be a bit more exciting for the crowd than just AF-ing it do death.

Sure, that's a good use of a DP. How about some walls swivel 90 degrees when the levers are switched, they slide past each other when they do creating a nice pinch point.
