Is the ship in standby mode or off?

I will leave that answer to the pilot.
Umm.. I think Dex would have kept it idling, with his Astromech at the helm, while making initial contact with the locals. Once establishing that there was no immediate need for making a getaway, I assume "off" for security and fuel consumption purposes (Astromech keeping watch, and controlling access to the ship).
How much game time do you think this should be? A single roll each? A short scene each?
Kaz is motivated by stories of injustice, hearing of someone's hardship at the hands of another could lead to him seeking that justice, probably through violence.
His duty will ultimately be Elimination: killing imperial officers. But since he hasn't joined officially he wouldn't seek such a thing. If the perpetrator in question happened to be Imperial then that could play into his encouragement to join the rebellion properly.
Ok so I'm going to lay out a few different computer roles regarding the ship.
Since its basically logged in right now from when you surprised the imports and stole it, its an easy mechanical check with a setback to take to enter the system as long as the astromech is connected.
If you disconnected the astromech and you shut down the ship it becomes much much harder, because you'll have to slice back into the ship.
So for the easy and a setback checks, you can look for simple things like the last heading and who the captain is etc. Anything regarding logs, past flight headings beyond the last ice you have to slice an encrypted storage computer which is 3 purples and a red. Jyst to get in and once in will be 3 puples and a setback for each individual subject. Like flight headings, individual logs etc.
What perpetrator?
Are you asking about individual slicing rolls or how long each scene has been?
I'm a bit confused by what your referring to.
If you fail a check you'll get a setback added to each time you attempt to look at the same type of information again until you succeed, then it resets. Example: you try and look at past destinations and you fail the first check, second check you'll have a setback, if you fail the 2nd you'll get another setback. Third check will trip security if it fails.
3 failures in a particular area will trigger a shutdown which will be a red and 3 purples to unlock again which also resets any added setbacks.

Would my ranks in Codebreaker apply? It applies to checks related to break codes and decrypt comms. It also reduces said check by 1.
Edited by KungFuFerretSure why not
Okie doke, I'm burning a Destiny Point to upgrade one of my dice to a yellow, and triggering Codebreaker, which reduces that red to a purple.
Slicing check: 4eP+4eD 2 successes, 2 threat, 1 Triumph

For my triumph, I'd like to make the subsequent check easier by decreasing the difficulty.

"Busy, stay the night. See you at Rosie's for lunch tomorrow."
I was referring to this, sorry I should have clarified. What I'm asking is should I take Kaz down the rabbit hole in this town dealing with some local thug bully, possibly something that will take a while to resolve? Or instead should I make a single post of him "having a nice meal and going to bed, ready to meet the informant tomorrow"
Is this an In Character thing or an Out of Character thing? Does your Contact help us move forward toward some kind of Rebel Alliance mission right now? Is your Ithorian friend a GIRLFriend or just an acquaintance? Does your Contact have honor so that they might "owe us one?" Then sure, we can help... Otherwise, we lay low, get what we need on this rock, and then head to a battalion headquarters without alerting the Empire.
Personally, Kai thinks we should use our obtained ship to either lead the Empire somewhere dangerous that we want them to go or use the fact that the ship is still registered and strike quickly into one of their ships. Also, we can possibly sell the Imperial ship that we "obtained" if we can't hack the codes... (Unless Superslicer Kungfu ferret pulls it off first which it looks like he's about to do!
)
Pretty sure the "ithorian friend" in question is Jaycen's, his ship jacker friend. Since he found out she's on this planet, he kind of thought she could help them get rid of the ship. Sort of a chop shop kind of thing, or at the very least help them file off the VIN and put some new numbers on the thing.
This is just Jaycen's thoughts of course, they've been improvising since they were on the previous planet. Flying around in a stolen imperial ship isn't his favorite idea of "low profile", so he wants to ditch the ship ASAP, and get a replacement through his friend, or just passage off planet, or whatever.
Well, since we're sharing thoughts, Kai is 100% in favor of meeting with Jaycen's friend if that's the case. Those are great thoughts. Let Kai know if he can be of any additional assistance.
I'm definitely musing in an outof character and meta kind of way. Out GM has given us the night off and I want to know if it can be a night of crime fighting or should it be a quiet night so we can get on with the story. I hate when a PBP gets completely derailed (edit: for no meaningful reason) at the expense of other players.
I want to have fun with Kaz searching out bad people and "dealing" with them... but only when it suits the story.
Edited by RichardbuxtonAgreed. I'd like for us to all be able to get into The Story, so to speak... of being Rebels and actually planning an assault or heist on an Imperial outpost and successfully completing the mission.
I think that Caess would probably want to keep the ship. But, wouldn't stick with it to the bitter end if a better idea comes along.
As for right now, I would say that Caess went back to the ship with Jaycen, and would probably search the trooper/cargo area while he was slicing the ship.
Ok second roll, if you are allowing me to reduce the difficulty of the check with my triumph (from the first check), and use Codebreaker (it's the same kind of check), which also allows me to reduce the difficulty of the check...AND ignores a setback, by my math, that means the 2nd dice roll is actually only going to be 1 purple. Do you concur GM?
Agreed but I'll flip a Destiny point to upgrade to a red.
As for what you want to do your I. Slightly sandboxy territory right now. So is really up to yall.
There is an over arching plot but is up to you how the battles threads gets stitched together.
There is stuff to explore here. But it's equally valid to go to bed and wake rested with the plot moving steadily forward.

Yes
Hacking the Gibson: 1eC+3eP+1eA 3 successes, 3 advantage

I'd like to find things related to fleet movements and/or previous flight logs of the ship itself, cargo manifests or the like. For my advantage, I'd like to be able to get access to the captain's logs as well, for all 3 advantage.
You won't find fleet movements. What you do find is a few astrogation logs, it'll take a few hours to reverse calculate them but i won't ask for a roll, and then nothing but planetary drops up to the present.
Cargo is various date stamped compliments of equipment appropriate to troopers also various restraint devices.
Occasionaly small artillery or gunnery weapons make the list. One case of an atmosphere controlled restrain cell.
There is 3 records of prisoner transport. No names logged.
You gain access to the logs. Its a long list of personal and duty logs. Its a fair amount. You'll have to search through it based on key words.
You do find that this seems to be designated as part of a nonstandard military unit, group.
So the "searching for it based on key words" bit, does that mean me just telling you keywords here in OOC and you giving me the information? Or will there be separate checks involved? And Jaycen will want to copy as much of this as he can in case they have to ditch the ship.
Yes, unless you ask for something that has been deemed more classified it will be checkless.
Anyone have any suggestions on keywords? My brain is a bit frazzled currently, and other sources would be groovy.
Sure thing, you said this is part of a non-standard military or "irregular" military group. Guerilla or Special Forces, perhaps? Since we have the various planetary drops this ship made can we track down the history of each insertion and crosscheck locations or timelines of Imperial activity? Also, the 3 Prisoner Transports after they left which 3 planets? Maybe there's someone important that they may have snagged.
Maybe, most of the information and what we can use will be finding secret Imperial bases or finding this Special Forces group's Homebase since they probably travel to and from some central location. Then, we can bomb them or better yet just break them down.
Then, using the Personal Logs maybe you can find out various soldiers info about them and their families, then use their birthdays, anniversaries, and any other dates who are important to those individuals. Then, you can try to hack into their identities for access to their banking info or more important, Imperial Access ID's.
I'm just brainstorming here... So, everyone else feel free to think about possible uses of this info as well!
