Jailbird and the Desperadoes OOC

By Richardbuxton, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Beginner Game

I'm not sure if what Caess is trying to do will require so form of check (Leadership perhaps), just more role-playing alone, or something else .

So just how much compulsion are we under anyway? At what point does Jaycen draw the line between going against his core values, and following the magic words in his head, and how long. The shows always have it be single events like "We don't need to see identification, move along" but if I'm going to be under for several minutes, and will do anything to obey, Jaycen's going to start shooting people.

Dude, that's a bit extreme... You want to start shooting your own team right off the bat as the Campaign is beginning? FYI, Caess & I can fly this tub out of here until you and Dex come back to your senses. How about if you relax that smokewagon before we implode this scene?

This should help us ALL to relax...

Dex is used to taking orders. Graduated from the Corellian Naval Academy as a Sub-Lieutenant, then Imperial (Top Gun equivalent) as a Lieutenant, now operating under Commander Caess for the Rebellion... He takes orders less well than some, but orders are orders.

Should I assume, for now, that the commanding Voice countermands even Direct Orders from a Superior Officer?

(& Now, I'm hooked on looking through these... lol)

First off, Jaycen is under a magical compulsion to get the target to the Empire. Do not confuse the game's outcomes with either the PC's, or the player's wishes on the matter. My PC has been compelled, the extent of that compulsion is exactly WHY I asked for clarification in the first place.

Second, the game's been going on for a bit now, you are just fresh to it, not me.

Thirdly, Jaycen doesn't have to kill anyone, which is why he uses stun settings on his gun. Partly because he can go for a lower threshold on most people (strain limit being lower than wound on most combat types).

Fourthly, don't tell me to relax as if you are at all in tune with my emotional state.

I want to know from the GM exactly how far he is expecting me to play up the compulsion. If it's just the single action that he's done, great, I'll be happy to no longer be acting against the party's goals. If not, then I will do what is expected based on the compulsion as described.

Fair enough. All good points. I've just been in enough campaigns to know that when blasters get drawn between PCs it doesn't usually end well and campaigns tend to implode... and that was the point I was making.

I have no desire to start combat with my fellow PC's, but what I want, or the PC wants, aren't really the issue here. I, and my PC, would be perfectly happy never using his gun. But, as I stated, Jaycen's agency has been compromised, so what he does isn't really up to me. If the compulsion translates to "you will attempt to accomplish it at any cost", then yeah, he's going to shoot people. He's not GOOD at it, as his skills are in other areas, but he will comply with the compulsion he's been given, until he is no longer compelled to do so.

So yeah, GM, please clarify how long, and to what extent, this Influence effect is going to have on us, as it will directly reflect on how I do IC posts for the foreseeable future.

It's only this round you'll be coerced. Your free next round.

And it's less magic vodoo mind control, and more a strong fearful compulsion.

I want to be clear, I'm allowing all of you to interpret this the way you feel your character will respond to this overwhelming fear.

So you decide how this works.

I think having panicked hesitation to escape, being crippled when trying to decide etc. Much more in line with what I'm thinking rather than going, "yes master, I will do what you say."

I apologize for not being more clear from the start.

As soon as everyone rp's the effects and reactions make the piloting check and so will I.

Well I've taken the action already, so it's fine at this point.

Yeah... Rather than retracting and reworking my last 3 posts, I'd as soon move on from here, as is?

Can I now "come to my senses" and get back on track, with the next piloting check?

Yes

Despair!!!

Do I need to narrate the success, prior to learning the nature of the Despair, or can I post it all together?

Just keep on keepin' on, essentially continuing the chase with the new "V" ship?

Input on the 3 Advantage?

Let me roll piloting, I'll do so after work.

Honestly I got to settle on this opponents stats. Didn't expect to be introducing her so soon.

I'm going to spend the despair on adding an additional setback you also take 1 strain.

Personal, or Vehicular strain; either way, can Dex use his High-G Training to take 1 (additional) Personal Strain, and reduce Vehicular strain by 1, from the lightning?

I'll allow narrate as you getting shocked from control panel

Use 3 Advantage to: "Ignore penalizing terrain or stellar phenomena until the end of the active character's next turn?"

(so it would just be the base difficulty + the Setback from Despair)?

And the failed fear check so you have 2 setback

Next turn You'll just have the fear, that lasts the encounter.

Anyone else want to jump in?

Wait... above the clouds, now, are we back in easy terrain?
