Jailbird and the Desperatos IC

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Beginner Game

The saber cuts through the seat officer was sitting in, a portion of the blade cuts a deep gash into his chest.

He fires back butt he's already tumbling out of his seat so the shot goes askew striking the decking

Die scum!

The second officer has time to react lining up a good shot on Kaz.

Foots steps and eager growls filter up the ramp.

(All the others besides @DJCrazee ) will arrive after this next round)

Dam Saber, make me come pick you up! Kaz grabs the shield of off his back and brings it round just in time for a couple of bolts but takes one in the leg garr!

"Gah!" Is all Jaycen has time to say as a strange, handheld plasma torch goes twirling near his head in a confined space. He watches it slice through the chair, and into the officer, but it doesn't drop him. He grimaces internally, always hating this part of things. But, nothing to do be done about it now. Grieve for missed opportunities later, for now, survive and escape. He turns to the Imperial still standing, and unharmed, and quickly whips out his light blaster. It's not designed like your typical blaster, smaller and more streamlined, as evidenced by how quickly he draws it. He flips a switch on the side, takes careful aim, and sends out a stun burst at the opponent. However the target is able to avoid the shot, causing Jaycen to curse to himself. Well, ranged combat was never your thing, that's why you went into IT and Data Manipulation. He thinks to himself. However, he does take some comfort in the fact that the shot from someone they thought was an ally, slightly rattles the two officers. Making them rethink the overall landscape of this conflict. Jaycen hears the clomping of feet behind him, and only slightly worries to himself that it might be someone other than his cell mates.

Behind Kaz footsteps announces the arrival of backup. A quick glance between dodging Blaster fire confirms its backup for them not the Imperials. Dam those are some nasty looking animals, funny how pets often look like their owners! "Glad you could make it Tychus" the Gank growls from behind his cowl before diving across the room.

Time for you to be quite he thinks as he plucks his Saber out of the chair and swings it straight for the officer he is up in the face of, with a burning hiss the blade plunges through the officer. The momentum of his attack is distracting, leaving a nice opening for the others to attack as the second officer stares in discomfort.

Tychus casually saunters into the ship, all cold and calculated, zero emotion in his face. He whips his pistol up and puffs his cigar. "Bang bang." he growls as smoke drifts around his face and he pulls the trigger.

The cylindrical actuating module of the massive pistol whirs loudly for half a second and then a cacophanous *kwom-thum* is heard as a red bolt roars from the barrel at the remaining officer.

Jaycen puts his gun down as the two officers fall, a look of disappointment on his face. He holsters it, and shakes off the feeling. He busies himself with making sure everyone gets in so they can escape, taking time to look out the gangplank, to see if anyone got curious about what they were doing.

Out the ramp you can see a little distance away 5 troopers gathered around a small skiff, one is marked as the squad leader is talking to an officer and a scanner crew on a small skiff (medium distance) you see the squad leader point to the sentinel and everyone looks in your direction.

Caess jogs up to the Sentinel's ramp and looks inside the ship. "Any trouble?" he asks Jaycen, then he looks over and sees the two dead Imperial officers "I see..." Caess says with no answer needed. "Is everyone here?" he asks turning back to see the rest of the group arriving with ω1 bringing up the rear. Astromechs are so useful, if only they could be a little faster. "The ship seems active." Caess says looking around "I'm going to get the engine running so we can get out of here," he turns back towards the ramp "come on Omega One." he tells the astromech. Caess enters the cockpit "Plug in." he tells ω1 "Let's see what we have here." Turning back towards the piloting interface he sees that the Imperials had left it fully active with minimal lockouts on the engine and pilot controls. So overconfident. There. Caess thought to himself, as he brought the pilot's station up. "Now try the engine Omega One." The astromech beeped its acknowledgement, and its computer link turned a few times, then it disconnected and beeped that the engine was ready. Caess turned and called out of the cockpit "We're ready for takeoff, Tychus take the controls, Jaycen co-pilot try to keep them from destroying us the second we takeoff, everyone else take a gunner station. I'll take the forward laser cannons "

"Ladies, lay down and settle in!" Tychus barks to his reptilian hounds as he jumps into the main pilots seat.

"This is your captain speaking, please keep hands and feet inside the vehicle and fasten seat belts." he says, laughing and taking the ship skyward. And. Away. We. Go...

Jaycen notices the other squad watching, and says under his breath, "Yeah, leaving would be good, faster the better." He moves in to the cockpit and takes a seat by the comms. Hope this works, I'd love to keep the body count to a minimum. As Tychus gets the ship ready and starting to take off, he finds the radio controls. He pauses for a moment, thinking, and then looks down at the remains of the two officers. Striking on an idea, he turns on the comms, his voice taking on a tone of concern and anxiety, while his Imperial accent comes to the forefront once more. "This is an emergency request for clearance to launch. We have a medical emergency on board, one of the officers has suffered a serious illness, he just collapsed to the deck. Cause unknown." He glances down at the corpse. "Subject is unresponsive and seems to be growing pale. On board medical attempts to revive failed. Request permission to return to the Star Destroyer for a full medical evaluation, before it's too late!" His tone shifting to a more desperate plea on the last bit. Turning off the comms mic, but waiting for a response to come in, he says under his breath to the others. "Maybe that will get us enough air time to plot a course and get the heck out of here."

Edited by KungFuFerret

There is a long pause before anyone responses then, then finally a response crackles over the coms, Transport "Enforcer 2" Understood, please elaborate on medical situation, what are your clearance codes to takeoff? This is a beach of protocal, strict orders imposing a flight ban are in effect as you should be aware. Who am I speaking to? This isn't Lieutenant Oren! Where are your troopers?

Jaycen closes his eyes and gets calm. Then he starts to let his voice rise. "I know this isn't bloody Lieutenant Oren! He's the one who is unresponsive! I'm one of his troopers, uuh...ok, one sec." He types furiously on the console of the ship, display screens flying by as he dives deeper and deeper, his face illuminated by the blue glow of the holoscreen. Eventually he stops on a string of numbers and characters. "Ok, transmitting code now, oh god he's starting to spasm!" Jaycen adds the flavor to the transmission, just hoping to buy them enough time to get out of here.

Edited by KungFuFerret

Kaz smirks at the small comment on spasms and begins making odd choking noises while slapping a wall with his palms, mimicking the sounds of a person convulsing. The odd looks this gets from the others is given a shrug Well it may help

After the Comms are cut off he heads for the back of the ship and one of the turrets. He is careful not to be seen by any on the ground but ready to jump in if needed.

Clearance code checks out, commence to the ISD Examiner, you'll be met be an emergency medical team. Landing bay 3. Transmitting coordinates and landing vector now. Rapier wing will escort you.

Edited by TheShard

"Copy that, enroute to Landing bay 3. Over and out" He sighs and leans back, turning off the comms. Looking exhausted, he mutters. "About bloody time, that was a boring conversation." He looks at the others. "Ok so, someone please tell me you can plot us a course out of here, I'm pretty sure I can't bluff our way past having two corpses, and a bunch of non-Imperials on the ship if we end up docking."

Scoot over!! Stryker slides in, and immediately takes charge of the pilot's cluster, grabbing the stick. Sorry, Commander, I was fixing my hair. You really gonna let these amateurs fly us outta here?

Cueball!? Addressing the spherical Q7 unit. See if you can shake hands with this shuttle... Two TIEs coming in hot... but let's play it cool, see if we can outmaneuver them a bit before they know what's what? Don't get all beaded-up, Birdy, I've got this.

In his element, the Cell's new hotshot pilot speeds effortlessly through the storm. True to his humble assessment of the situation, Lieutenant Dex Stryker (the Rebels let him retain his rank, but he has yet to see any credits) deftly maneuvers the ship to actually increase the space between them and the approaching escort. Try to keep up! he dares them.

"Are we out of the frying pan yet and into the fire?" Kaiman Strineth shouted from the jumpseat behind Dex.

He was doing everything in his power to be as unobtrusive and invisible as possible until they were far away from this frelled up planet and this frelled up mission.

Easy In, Easier Out...

That's what their mission contact had said about getting on and off world when he'd asked about their infiltration and extraction.

Even worse, the data files they'd gone through all this trouble to obtain had been corrupted and the entire mission was a bust. He and Dex would be having words with Finn when, *sigh* if, they made it out of this burning pile of pudu in one piece.

It had to be by more than luck that they just happened to encounter another cell of rebels so something clearly got frelled in translation.

He would do his part to help out but if the Empire got a hold of them, Kaiman would rig this bird to blow themselves and the entire hangar of whatever star destroyer picked them up before their Intel could be compromised.

Edited by Cartergame

"Dex, you know this job cost me my tools, my slicing gear, and even my frelling glue gun as well? I'm furious at Finn for totally frelling us up, man! If we can at least make it back to base with this bird intact I guess that will be something. It's great for the cause, I guess. But from where I'm sitting I'm only seeing a ship that's good for infiltration and not much else."

Kaiman strained against the safety harness as he leaned forward trying to see the co-pilot's controls and any hardware that might be useful for communications or weapons systems.

"How long til we Hyperspace?"

Not your glue gun?! Dex commiserates with his old friend, only half-listening as he skillfully navigates through the increasing storm. Visibility is deteriorating quickly, but those TIEs are fast, and he doesn't want to give them any opportunity to catch up... Hopefully this storm activity is frakking with their sensors and comms...

Those TIEs would have the advantage- if I were flying them. Admiring the handling of the shuttle's trihedral foil design, he continues: This baby can move too, though, and with me at th..

What-the-frakk!?!?

Edited by Edgehawk

"Oooh, oh no...no no no....AH!" Jaycen flinches as they begin to travel through the storm. "Are you AIMING for the lightning strikes!?" Clearly he's not fond of high intensity flying. He braces his feet against the console, pushing back against the chair, cursing Imperial design to not include things like safety restraints, or hand rails over their ubiquitous bottomless pits. "Gah!" He flinches again at another lightning strike, and covers his face.

You don't see them following, do you?! Dex snaps back, defensively. Frakking hate atmospheric flying, but it is covering our escape rather nicely... I am almost fast enough to aim for the lightning, Jayce, but no- I think that one was aiming for me.

That one was a bit too close, in fact...

Kai! Systems check. Make sure we're still good-to-jump after that hit.

How we doin' Commander?

"We seem to have lost our 'escort', nice flying Dex those TIEs don't have shields so this storm will be far more dangerous for them." Caess said, watching the sensor inputs near the gunner station he was sitting at.

Caess turned to ω1 plugged into one of the cockpits astromech ports "ω1 how long until you've calculated the jump to hyperspace?" he paused while the astromech determined how much time it had left before it was ready, then added. "Dex how long until we are far enough out to make the jump? I would prefer to get out of here before that Star Destroyer gets much closer." Then Caess thought to himself I wonder if the Imperial commander will send their pilots into this storm...

Meanwhile down the back of the ship a grey furred and grizzled Gank lounges back in a gun turret seat. In his hands he fidgets with a small steel ball, checking over it looking for any irregularities. Satisfied it's in good shape he throws it up in the air where it suddenly springs to life and hovers with a stream of binary coming out.

" Yeah, hi to you too TwoJay. Where are we? Buddy this isnt Jubilar any more. We hitched a ride with some friendly people to escape that pile of shiz..."

The little droid spews forth a tirade of binary, zipping around the little turret station in apparent frustration.

" Trust them? You know me, of course I don't trust them. Yu know as well as I that planet was a dead end, nothin good was gonna come from us being there... especially with those bast*rd Imperials in orbit."

More binary, this time a little slower and more relaxed while the movements slowed down to normal.

" Ok so we haven't actually gotten away yet, the dam pilot flew us into this storm trying to outrun some Ties... would have been safer to just shoot them! Anyway seems we lost the a$$holes for now and I missed out on a little target practice. They'll be back though. So, what Upgrades d'you want when we finally get outta this mess?"

With that the little Droid starts going over all the chassis modifications and additions it wants, taking quite some time to go into detail.
