It's not unheard of to have 3 pieces of news in a day, but I'm starting to sound sad being so optimistic at this point.

My guess - they were hoping to announce the app some time around now, and they're jut not ready...and that's knocked out the entire timings...

...just a silly guess of course!

I know it's off topic, but there's a product line I worry about. FFG have very limited experience with wargaming and the current production issues they're having with Destiny (another new format) makes me worry they've pushed themselves too far too fast with this.

ANYWAY... 7 weeks since any IA news - hey, here's an idea, maybe they've got some amazing product to announce to tie in The Last Jedi, and they're just keeping us in suspense?...

I seriously doubt we'll hear anything related to the app before end of the year, if this year at all. It was only vaguely teased and not even officially announced. There's development and testing, and that doesn't go that quickly. Remember also that it will likely be released for free like Descent's app was, which means they won't throw a lot of money behind it which will mean a smaller development team and longer development cycle.

Possibly they might announce it after the small box release for end of year bundled with the next big box release.

Yeah and beyond the rarity of 3 news bits a day, they aren't going to announce a wave of expansions for a brand new game and then crowd out that news with another expansion for a different game and IP. Next week or (looking more likely) GAMA.

I agree that we won't see the app just yet. The only thing I would argue is that the "out of nowhere" announcement for big products is ffgs style. But I could also see them saving something as big and anticipated as the app for a big convention.

Like road to legend as far as I remember was left field, same with mom 2nd... they love to surprise because it builds hype.

Absolutely. Not to say that I think that the app is just around the corner, but there's really no way to tell either way. With their physical products they announce in advance, but I'd imagine a lot of that is to give stores a chance to place their orders and people a chance to pre-order. There's a big delay between the announcement and when it's in our hands, but that's because it's got to spend so much time printing/on the boat/etc. None of that applies to an app - they could theoretically finish their coding one day and then have it released worldwide the next.

If the app is going to be the imperial player of the core campaign and all the expansions, i am willing to pay 50$ for it even.

I just hope they dont focus solely on Skirmish like Battlelore.

My understanding was that the app is intended to replace the Imperial player in Campaign. There has been no indication, from what I've seen, that it will have anything to do with Skirmish whatsoever. If they could squeeze an army list builder in there, that would be amazing, but I suspect it will simply be to facilitate campaign play.

At this point, only thing we heard is that there most probably will be an IA companion app coming. It has not been confirmed it will in fact be an app offering co-op play like the Descent app.

If it does however, I would expect it to follow the RtL app model, which is offering all-new custom scenarios for co-op play and built from the ground up with app play in mind, not replacing the Imp Player in existing 'paper' campaigns. I'm not even sure the latter could be practically done without turning it into a full-on video game.

Fingers crossed. I think we'll get something today- not sure if it'll be a Wave IX report or a small box announcement, but I've got a very strong feeling we'll get something.

Looks like they did another X-Wing article, talking about the smaller ship in the C-ROC pack. Announced Jan 9th, first preview Feb. 20th, second March 10th.

IA wave whatever we are on, announced Jan 13th.. no news since. I think we are due!!

Ya.. like 100x bigger. X-Wing is massive world wide, it has to be their most popular game? IA is more of a niche game..

Yeah, it's not foolproof, but a nice way to kind of get into FFG's head is to see what's listed first on each universe's "Products" page.

For Star Wars right now, you have Destiny at the top (they're really pushing hard for it lately), then X-Wing, then IA. X-Wing is almost always in the 1 or 2 spot, pretty much always in front of IA.

Both games are good, but I think part of X-Wing's appeal is just how easy to get into it it is. The core box has easy to understand rules, prepainted figures, and you can pretty much buy whatever ship pack you want for your second purchase. IA is kind of confusing as far as figure packs go, and characters like Boba Fett can be locked behind expansion purchases, too.

I love IA, and though I've had fun with X-Wing, I much prefer this game. But that doesn't mean IA's perfect. Its release model is a nightmare for new players.

Yes I took the plunge with X-Wing a few weeks ago, very easy to get into and understand the rules. The learning curve is very gradual, it is a super deep game but anyone can pick it up and start playing.

For $75 I've got a competitive tournament ready list that I will be running in my first ever X-Wing tourney tomorrow. It isn't by any means a top tier list, but as a new player I don't full comprehend the strategy behind the meta lists anyway. The important thing is, it was easy and cheap to build and it will give me the opportunity to win games while learning. As I said in the other thread, this is just the cost of the MAPS required to play in an IA tournament, doesn't even get you a single figure lol.

I'd say we still have an hour before it starts looking bad. Fridays usually see at least 2 announcements, and Jabba's Realm wasn't announced until about this time either.

I still think we'll get something at this point- especially since X-Wing got the smaller earlier morning announcement, I think IA is due for something big.

I checked the news page and felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of fans suddenly cried out in terror and got really disappointed about the lack of news. I fear something terrible has happened with the product line.

I seem to remember them posting IA updates pretty late, as late as 5 or 6 PM EST sometimes.

But I don't care that much about news; I still haven't played Jabba's Realm or any of the new heroes yet, so I've got plenty to do til the next release
