By MacrossVF1, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Fixed the dorsal wing and mounted it on top of the cargo pod.

Beautifull work, really like your panelling

I can only imagine these close-up shots not doing it proper justice, as the cockpit would be like one-third the size in each dimension, comparing to the pics.

Macross youre giving me a complex! I may have to go back to making ash trays from Play Doh! Lol

Muhahaha! My plan of complete domination over the peons is proceeding as planned! *Cough* I mean, don't say that, feel inspired to produce your own great creations. :D

Anyway, the wings has been detailed.

Dude, I love your work and sense of humor! And I am inspired. BUT as Harry Callahan* once said,"a man needs to know his limitations", and I'm aware of mine.

Your abilities remind me of a guy I knew 30+ years ago. A bunch of us would meet on Friday night to build models, drink coffee and shoot the bull. One night I sat across the table from him building a model while he smoked his pipe and pushed a wad of Sculpey on the end of a popsicle stick. After about 20 minutes he showed me what he was doing. He had a perfectly formed face in about 100 mm scale! I was amazed! And inspired. But I know my limitations and this was something I couldn't do. Just to be clear for the non figure painters here, the face wasn't 100 mm in size but was scaled to a figure 100 mm in height. So the completed figure would stand just under 4" tall. He said you start with the head so if the size is a little off you can adjust the body to compensate.

So, keep us Peons entertained and let us revel in your accomplishments because I really love your work.

And now there's a larger landing craft one in the Rogue One trailer with four wings!

Slow down there mate, let me finish this one first. Besides, I don't think I'm good enough to scratch build something that it is only visible for half a second and mostly consists of a massive fireball. :P

Anyway, basically finished the bridge/cockpit.

Well you'll never build one with that attitude :P

Oh yes, it's good to know your limitations. For me one of those limitations is sculpting. Give me edges, angles and anything I can measure and calculate and I can probably build it. Hand me a blob of sculpting clay and that blob will likely still be a blob by the end of the day. :)

Didn't update yesterday as I was too busy putting the finishing touches on the ship. Oh yeah, it's finished! Now it only needs a proper coat of paint. The bridge/cockpit is probably a tad bit too big, but considering I built it pretty much freehand (didn't even have a scale drawing to go off) it's to be expected and besides, it doesn't detract much from the overall look.

Just freakin amazing :)

Hooray! I love it macross! It's been a pleasure working with you!

****, that look like a bought one!

:D

Another great scratch build.

Great work Mac!

:D

:o

Beautiful work! Now you just need to add a servo so the wings will fold and unfold automatically. <g>

Since you are at Cygnus, could you do the Assault Gunboat (and maybe the Missile Boat) next?

Whoa. You've outdone yourself!

I certainly think so as well, but then again I'm biased.

You can certainly do that my friend as you ARE one of our top five modelers on the entire forum.

:)

Its been over a month since we have seen something new.

I think I'm experiencing withdrawal!!!

Do you have any new projects in the works?

I'm back bee-atches! Yeah I know you've missed me. When I finished the Sentinel transport it was time to prepare for the Regionals (got to third place) and after that I took some well deserved rest.

Anyway, it's time for yet another scratch build, a Wayfarer-class Transport. This is the third Wayfarer I've built and it's starting to get a bit tedious. So I'm going to look into casting the ship! Unfortunately I have no experience with casting so I need to spend some time and learn the process first. Anyone with experience with who is willing to help me?

Unfortunately, ships that small are difficult to scratch build, too damned fiddly, and besides, it would be easier and cheaper just to get 3D-printed versions of the ships.

Try getting in touch with Paulson Games. That guy's pretty **** good!

Subtle Discord over on Dakkadakka seems to produce VERY high-quality casts, so he'd be someone to talk to as well, I'd say:

I thought it would be easier... (since the wings would be pretty simple to do)

Anyway, thanks. Looking forward for your next master pieces.

Definitely the best Wayfarer yet.

I really like the paint job on this one.

How does this ship work on the tabletop?

Is it a stand in for the millennium Falcon, firespray...?

I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have regarding mold making and casting. Drop me a pm at your convenience.
