Unpreventable damage that can be canceled out by discarding two cards. LOL!

It is worded correctly. The two card discard interrupts the effect that "causes" the damage. So the effect is cancelable, the damage caused by the effect is not.

Yes, Nullify will stop this.

That dose seam like a very strong card, 2 cost as well with recursion using that new warlord isn't it?

Yep it's a very powerfull card indeed. Altough without it Urien would have been less interesting for sure. To be honest all cards are quite powerfull can might just end up being new staples for Dark Eldar (altough the Event and Support are obviously more limited to Urien).

Not a bad DE addition at all! Altough it will thake a little while before Urien is out :)

No real recursion for Urien himself altough for sure he can copy it or recur it with Coliseum Fighters.

yup those are the cards I was thinking of. Crazy. 6 damage unpreventable + recursion for 6 times in a game. That is just crazy talk. Even though the attachment is hard to find, 3 recurring damage is still pretty crazy at 2 cost. So that means you can cast it 6 times if you pilot your deck correctly and with 3 Colosseum Fighters you are not going to have a hard time pulling this card back out.

Though that attachment dose require a warlord tap, so I would still prefer to not use it and just have a shield.

The real problem with this card is that it is in actuality a 2 card discard. While the 3 damage is very strong, exactly how often will that effect go though? I think if you rely on this card as a damage effect and not a discard effect then you are going to be sorry. Like if you are expecting to decimate some fat unit, then you are probably looking at a 2 card discard. Even more so if your attachment is out.

Still 2 drop 2 card discard is a strong card, and it is the discard that people should be looking at for this card. Or is it? The discard isn't random right? So this card is basically, "Discard your two worst cards"... Hmm..

Time has proven that punisher cards are almost universally terrible. The reusable Fateseal , on the other hand, is quite good.

Well both are viable strategies, altough the way Conquest currently works makes the Fighters less than optimal for a 2 drop. Currently it would have been great as a 2/2 body or if it had a single Command Icon.

Their presence as a unit is not incredible, which makes it much more like a Gravedigger in terms of MtG.

I feel that cards currently have to fufill one of these roles at the bare minimum in terms of army units:

- Have single Command Icon OR more

- Have a 3/3 body OR more

If the card does not have either it's very hard to say it's generally good enough in combination with other cards. Archon's Terror is a prime example of an excellent card but there is no tournament winning deck that holds Coloseum Fighters alongside it.

Cheers,

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are already playing Dark Eldar choke and your opponent doesn't have 2 cards in their hand, they have to take the damage.

Killax, maybe time to update the first page given that Ethereals and Scourge are both fully spoiled on cardgamedb?

Could do that.. or wait for all the packs. What do you guys like?

Absolutely.

I'm not sure how I feel about cards dictating deck design. It is a all a little fixed for my liking. Truly great cards can go in a variety of archetypes. This game through the warlord system sorta restricts deck design, as the core of the deck is already formed and fixed for you. I think trying to make the additional cards fit into different styles might be a good idea.

This "problem" will iron itself out around year 3 or so once the pool is a decent size.

I do not care either way. I like that the thread just grows with new stuff, but if you are expected to update the OP constantly it would be a ton of work and mostly redundant as only a month or so, maybe less and the full spoils are on CGDB.

@booored

Even the meta feels fixed to me,but after several, several warpacks later things will slip thorough I'm sure this is FFG after all. The action windows feel like an attempt to control timing of cards (which might work out). But as I said before game works so far and I'll keep buying until this one slips up.

Sorry if this post sounds to negative but I own a few FFG games..I got a feeling will see a 40k conquest second edition lol. That's just my early assessment just ignore me

..on a side note this game gets my creative juices flowing. There is some things (to me) that the game could of done a whole lot better to not drawl in just the 40k table top players but on a level of coolness that everybody has to have it! Trying to get 40k players to play this would be like trying to get Warhammer fantasy players to play Disk wars. It could of been more thematic 40k wise and it could of been more thematic modern war wise. That is my only gripe with the game other then that I'm enjoying it.

I agree that its not perfect but still a whole lot better as many games imho. Including the table top game. To rach his own :D

I'd probably not have even tried this if it was set in a modern war setting. We had a chat about theme before and I think it counts, especially in the early days before the game is established. Also as a card game fan with many current titles being collected as well as fleshing out classics. So for me art and theme is even more important, because if I can not find players it is art and theme that dictates if I'll collect with no opponents.

I probably should rephrase "thematic modern warfare" with "modern warfare realism". That's what I meant on that part my mistake. But yeah 40k universe is very interesting very good theme. In fact the whole Warhammer universe is awesome it deserves a epic movie.

And the art work I agree is so well done another great thing about the game.

Yeah its a win win situation in this one.

Altough FFG learned from theit Invasion mistakes.

What happened with Invasion?

What happened with Invasion?

It's easier to ask what didn't happen with Invasion ;)

No, seriously, for the uninitiated - what happened? :)

I always remember Invasion having a lot of problems with balance. In the early going, some factions like High Elves were very weak. Later on, Chaos was way behind, while Empire became nearly unbeateable. Some cards had to be nerfed, one was banned completely. They managed to get more balance eventually, but the damage was done. Not a bad game, but a lot of people were turned off by these issues.

It's purely based on opinions, but FFG made it their game to much. Not thaking into account that WFB has as many ex-miniature players as 40K and this is also seen in the populairity of Conquest.

Couple of things that wern't okay from the getgo:

- Not all factions could be played as single factions (Lizardmen/Skaven/Undead/more? started out as Neutrals)

- Not all factions where balanced (like Titan mentioned) well enough (also a bit true for Conquest but they are more tier 1 and 2, not so much 1,2 and 3 anymore)

- Not all stuff was bad however

Later on they tried to fix what was possible and this created a better game. Currently it could be seen as an okay game but from the start this was not the case.

Yeah invasion Empire was broken. But otherwise still good. Sad FFG killed it before we got tomb kings and ogres.

At least in invasion there were no questionable alliances.

Imperial guard and orks- say what?

Also i found it more fun to play multiplayer than 40C.

Game feels cramped with 3 players.

'No id on't wanna fight I just want the resoucres!"

"To bad we both got our warlords on this planet! Bring it!"

True, it has it's things.

On the other side, nothing of the Chaos rumours yet? No Podcast who got these?!
