What kind of upgrade card do you think would help out the Tie Advanced, here is my thought:

They developers mentioned they were working on a title card to help the Advanced out.
As the Chaardaan refit (SP?) is already out for the A wing, essentially selling an upgrade slot, I doubt they will clone the same card for the Advanced.
I'd like to see a title that makes a missile super cheap. Something like
Strike Fighter

You pay 3 less points for missiles added to this ship.
or
TIE Advanced II
Title. TIE Advanced Only
Add the Systems upgrade slot to the ship.
0 cost non-unique
I don't know if that is too much, but it needs either a special way to kick someone in the pants, or a point reduction that makes it favorable to just buying loaded up bombers in special circumstances. In this case, if you want a single missile point ship that's hard to kill.
Advanced Manoeuvering Thrusters.
"Action: perform a free barrel roll action using the 1 straight or one bank template. Then perform a free focus action."
1pt, maybe?
Maybe something to represent the prototype nature of the X1? How about a title that allows the Advanced to count all eyeballs as hits? (Basically a free limited use focus.)
Perhaps upgrade to carry multiple missiles?
Just let them have any single upgrade for 0 cost. Make it a title.
Also that idea about extra dice is really good.

Linked Triggers
Before you perform an attack with a secondary weapon that instructs you to discard the card, you may choose to discard a second copy of the same card if equipped. If you choose to do so, after modifying defence dice double the number of hits and critical hits suffered by the defender.
Would be great on a TIE Bomber or Y-Wing.

Alternatively, it would make them cheap defenders.
Give the Tie Advanced the boost action to their action bar. A 4 point upgrade, closer to value of 3 points on a defensive ship like the Tie-A. Problem solved. Vader might be underpriced at 29 points though.
Edited by ralpherIt almost has to be an offense boost of some kind; the TIE advanced is already quite durable, the maneuver dial isn't very good but not really addressable with new upgrades, and support ships that aren't also decent attackers have a bad track record in the game.

Simply increasing its Attack value to 3 is a problem because then it's very close to both the Interceptor (3 points plus the cost if the title/mod/whatever to add 2 shields) and Defender (-8 points, minus the cost of the upgrade, for dropping 1 shield).
Obviously the dials and actions are different, but those are usually finer balancing elements than the straight stat line. There's just not enough room between the Interceptor and Defender to accommodate the TIE Advanced. FFG is going to have to do something trickier and/or more complicated.

so.. rockets are they only hope to be cost effective? sigma phantom cost 25 points and have 4 attack value ![]()
how about a new action like avenger tractor beam, whenever you attack a ship with a tractor token +2, on the turn a ship is beamed that ship can only use straight manuvers could have it instead of a missle and it works like ion cannon or something
One reason I suggested what is effectively a free focus on offence is that it gives you a similar overall effect as 3 attack, but is not as good as 3 attack (due to not being boostable with an actual focus token). I do also like the idea of a free boost action with every barrel roll idea though ![]()

I'm not sure what you mean. The Phantom's 4/2/2/2 stat line makes it a very different ship from anything else in the game, even before you add in the cloak action.
What I'm saying is that there's not enough room between 3/3/3/0 and 3/3/3/3. An Advanced with +1 Attack has a 3/3/3/2 stat line, which (as Biophysical says) is basically a Defender you can get more cheaply. There's no "just right" price point for it; it either steps on the toes of the Defender or the Interceptor.
Ship design isn't just stats. There is the dial, access to upgrades, and actions as well. Simply giving the Advanced a extra attack die is boring and uninspired though, and I would hope to see something more distinct.
