Dave Filoni says Stormtroopers suck

By ErikB, in General Discussion

Chief: kinda. I just find the "gonzo idiotic, can't hit the broadside of a barn from 5 meters" interpretation of stormtroopers incredibly boring. Same with the whole notion of "the Empire's janitorial subcontractors are EVIL because THEY DERIVE INCOME FROM THE EMPIRE."

Same here, and that's what is frustrating about the general notion people have about them. (From what I can tell anyway.)

Hopefully they're be more potent an enemy than what we're expecting.

Same here.

I bet we'll see the rebels run away from them time and time again.

Hopefully :)

I mean ... that said, I do suppose that they will also kick stormtrooper behinds when necessary, only when they're outnumbered or when the stormtroopers have a leader of some sort (like the inquisitor) will they run for their lives. I mean, it would be plot driven, so I assume we'll see varied reactions and actions towards stormtroopers as the stories need.

sucks to be you.

Sucks to be FFG and Disney if they try to sell stuff promoting terrorism.

Ok someone has to make reality check right now.

Imagine a scenario if you will:-

The Republican senator for Georgia comes home from a long day to spend some quality time with his son.

'What do you want to do son?'

'There is a new Star Wars show on! Can we watch it?'

'Yes. That sounds like wholesome family entertainment. Let us do that'

Can we imagine what happens when said Disney show consists largely of thinly disguised Al-Qaeda propaganda?

I wonder if that has occurred to anyone at Disney. Nah. I don't think it is the sort of thing they consider.

His constant evoking of the Disney name bother anyone else too?

The scariest part in that post is the "I think" bit...

Like it or not, Disney are part of the equation now, so maintaining 'Brand Image', both of Disney and of Star Wars is gonna be a thing.

(If people think I am wrong, feel free to tell me why)

That is not what is bothering me, but I am not surprised that is what you took away from it.

Can you at all differentiate between reality and fantasy?

The thing is that it does matter as much whether I can as that the Republican senator for Georgia can.

Now admittedly the chances of said honourable member or someoe like him coming in to contact with and caring in any way about FFGs little RPG are minuscule, but seriously, the T-Word is toxic .

No, his question was: Can you?

@Erik: Uhm... You're still missing the point, it seems you're incapable of understanding... but I've had my fun, for now. Enjoy your fundamentalist perspective.

Stop comparing Star Wars characters to Al-Qaeda you ignorant son-of-a-*****. Or, if you really can't see the difference, get off your inflated ego-weighted arse and go fight them yourself. Believe me, you'll get the idiocy ***** slapped out of you within minutes.

Like I say, the T-Word is utterly toxic.

No, your line of 'reasoning' is entirely toxic.

YOU are the only one making the ******* comparison, so stop being a tool and keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.

I say the Rebel Alliance are not terrorists. Millandson says they are. Indeed, he suggests some terrorists are justified in their actions. Who are you mad with?

Dude, comparing to al-qaeda is different than comparing to terrorist... Are you capable of understanding the difference?

YOU are the only one making the ******* comparison, so stop being a tool and keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.

No, the rest was having a normal conversation about perceived truths in a fantasy world where the powers that be would have called the rebels such.

It is you who is making all these comparisons and invoking the real world into a Roleplaying game based on a fantasy movie from the 70's and acting like you are the guardian of its legacy. Just.. you know... stop it!

That Georgia senator would be less concerned with a terrorist aspect than the fact that his son is playing an rpg. Because as he well knows, playing rpgs leads to devil-worship. I'm sure he would consider a Star Wars rpg a gateway game to that master of the depraved D&D. He'd have his son off to the deprogrammers in no time.

Dude, comparing to al-qaeda is different than comparing to terrorist.

What is the first thing you think of when someone says Terrorist?

Or do you think the Rebel Alliance are some of those good terrorists?
