Any SE Michigan games?

By Johdo, in X-Wing Organized Play

Sorry looks like I'm out for tonight, didn't know wife had plans for us tonight, see you next week.

For the tourney next Tuesday, is it open to the public or do I need to register? First one for me so pardon my uncertainty :b

Ive got Tuesday and Thursday night free of wife and baby this week and am trying to decide which store to make the drive to...

So...where are you guys gonna be these nights? If anyone's available, that is.

I really need to get lots of games in for Chicago Regionals.

If you are referring to the tournament at Eternal Games, then yes it is open to the public, although it's not on their calender yet, I'm pretty sure it's happening. They have plenty of space so I doubt there will be a limit on players, you can just show up an hour or so before and sign up and play.

I seem to be running on time today, so I'll see anyone going to RIW between 6:00 and 6:30.

Thanks! I'll be sure to bring my A game :)

Stoked to play Tuesday. Sounds like we have five from this thread attending. Anyone else thinking about coming out?

I think I've got 1 more guy interested from the Star Wars fan club I'm in.

By the way...If anybody has a passing interest in an X-wing minis game this afternoon I'm going to be up at GOB Retail's new store on 14 mile just east of Rochester Road (775 E. 14 Mile Clawson) from 1:00-1:30. Obviously I'll stay longer if anybody shows up. If not I'll just buy me some more card sleeves, inspect their inventory, and head home.

Haha! Back in the good ole US! And itching for some games! I haven't even bought my W4 stuff yet =/. I'm thinking about driving out to Eternal on Tuesday to get in a few games, plus I need to win several of these summer kits so I get enough of those proximity and proton things... because obviously I use them all the time!

Cool. There's a chance I can make it this Thursday too. Ill know more later in the week

how does the tournament thing work? Do you build a force beforehand and play it all day or do you need 1 for each faction? We're just getting things started up in Saginaw, but if I am able, a tuesday tournament might not be out of the question.

you pick 100 point squads before hand

Edited by LordVaderFan

You just need one squad, from the faction of your choice, and you'll use that in every game. You can face squads from either faction, so try to build something that could take on either side. Ideally you want to build your squad in advance, and you don't necessarily need to play test, but at the very least try to get familiar with how to fly it, and what the different abilities, and upgrades can do. Most of all have fun with it, and best of luck.

On the tournament note, Johdo mentioned this last week, and I noticed it on Thursday. Does anyone have any details on the tourney at RIW on Thursday the 24th? There is a poster in the window, but I haven't seen it advertised at all.

Finally, I think that the first Flat Land kit will be one of the last two weekends of August. Some of the regulars there will be out of town the first couple weeks, and then there is gencon, so it will likely be one of those last two weeks.

Anybody going by to Eternal Games tonight prior to the tournament on Tuesday?

6pm start time tomorrow at Eternal Games?

Phil, make sure you show up around 9pm. That way you can see all the goodies being handed out, and I can get a meaningless game in against you... as those seem to be the only ones I can win against you =P.

Eternal tourney: 6pm registration, games will probably start around 6:30-7:00 depending on the time it takes to lay everything out and get everyone ready to go.

Bad news though, I won't be able to make it. I forgot I told my friends I'd help them move tonight :( I really wanted an acrylic proton bomb too!

I'm gonna have to make the drive later this week or part of next week to get in some practice for the Chicago Regional. Wave 4 stuff means sooooo many new lists that are tough to beat and I have no experience against with any of my lists.

My dice are stronger performers under pressure.

I hear ya... I'm having a hard time coming up with a list that'll hold its own against a VI phantom, but then not cripple under everything else... Especially since I pretty much refuse to go to a named YT-1300... I'm thinking that the ORS might be useful, but it only has a 35% of hitting the phantom, so one on one, it loses. I feel like at the end of the day, after lots of practice, the phantom won't be as big of a deal as I currently make it out to be... But that's been my feeling since it was first announced, and I haven't had any real games (besides AIA) against it yet to prove myself right/wrong.

Looks like it's going to be a good turn out. Looking forward to it! I have performed some rather elaborate rituals to prepare my dice. :) Sage burning, mantras of (crit, crit, crit), etc.

I've also prepared a list of curses for when they perform poorly. i.e. I've seen 4-sided die roll less blanks than you!

We'll see how it goes. :)

I'm still planning on making it, but I'm running a bit late. (Haven't left work yet, and current traffic shows 41min)... Should be heading out within 15min, so I should be there before 6:30, assuming the traffic doesn't get much worse.

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to the summer op tourney at Eternal. We had twelve players, top six went home with prizes. First and second took home free ships, third and fourth took Biggs and Acrylics, fifth and sixth scored the summer card boxes and additional tie cards. Lists seemed to be modifications of old faves like rebel allstars backed with a loaded Ewing and phantom led pseudo swarms. I don't believe I saw a single white K turning Defender in the bunch.

Had a blast tonight, cant wait for the 27th!

Some great games last night. Thanks to everyone who came out.

I really liked seeing the e-wing in action I think it's a pretty dangerous ship. Also flying the phantom is crazy fun.

The tentative date for the next tournament is Sunday the 27th but it seems to conflict with a lot of peoples schedules. So keep an eye on the forum or the Eternal site/Facebook page.

It will be the same summer op kit as before. So another chance to take home those acrylic bomb tokens and Biggs card.

It was good to see a lot of new faces mixed in with some of the regulars. I'm looking forward to giving it another go, as I am looking for revenge after losing to two lists of Echo + mini TIE Swarm. The question is how am I going to get that revenge (apart from smashing every Phantom I see when people aren't looking).

Congrats especially to all the new folks who won prizes.
