Yeah, I saw that about the fighters included but just couldn't bring myself to believe it; not after seeing the NY Toy Fair box. But if that's what is in the starter set I'd be totally jazzed! We've all been saying it: who wants a starter set where one team only gets one figure? One X-wing vs. two TIE Fighters hardly gets me excited to play it. Two vs. two is much more appealing. Not only that, but the fighters listed there really make it feel like the Death Star assault, rather than just a random dogfight. If that is a change they decided to make that's pushing back production, I'm all for it, but that seems doubtful to me.
No news is... not good news?
IF (big if) that is true, that would explain the delay as it requires a Major Rework of the entire base set. We don't even know if the Y-Wing & Vader TIE were physically in the works! There was no mention of BOOSTERS, after all. You know how long it takes to get a model from the drawing board into mass production? Who knows how long the delay will actually end up being.
What it doesn't explain, however, is the continued silence.
Or, it must be said, cost modifications. IF it's true, now there are four (all different) fighters, with their associated rules material. That's probably not free.
Eh... that announcement didn't come out on April 1, did it?
I'm starting to understand why they use the word "fantasy" in their name. Seems a fantasy that this game will ever take flight. That being said, I'm sure something will come along eventually . I'm just not holding my breath for it.

Ha!
I'm feeling the same way. For almost a month after the announcement, I was extremely excited about this game and would have thrown a ton of money at it. Now? Well, I'm still hoping for a news, but apathy has grown in the place of excitement. Now if they are waiting to announce the aforementioned change to the starter set, then carry on, FFG, carry on. If not? Then I may not be buying after all.

Well said, have been awaiting the arrival of the copy ordered on this and keep watching the release date switch.
R
StarWars.com is having a spotlight one the X-wing fighter, including wallpapers, information, and products.
It's too bad FFG's product wasn't out in time to be featured there . . .
Well I saw that they updated the X-wing status on the "upcoming" page today. It's still at the printer, but at least they didn't push it back -- it's still expected for release in Q2. That's not news, per se, but it's not bad either. Wait, how long has it been at the printer?
GASP! NEWS! Check out the front page if you haven't already.
Yep. They stated it would be out this summer (2012)
So the "Upcoming" news was updated on 4/16 and still lists the game as "2nd Quarter 2012". The news release said "…this summer…". Would that mean that X-Wing will be released sometime between June 21st and Jun 30th►
Or am I so desperate for concrete release date information that I am grasping at straws►
Yeah, I''m hoping for a June release, but I''m puzzled by the statement that the expansions will be released at the same time as the starter set when those are slated for Q3 and the starter for Q2. Maybe they just mean the same summer.
Well, all my complaining aside, it looks like I'm about ready to preorder these things. Now if only they'd tell us the size and number of card sleeves needed . . .
I'm going to go ahead and triple post here.
I cannot believe how much time they're letting go by between updates. I thought for sure we were going to see bi-weekly updates after that last one. It seemed to hint that there were so many things to tell us in future updates.
And I still haven't got a response back from FFG about which card sleeves and how many are needed for the core and each expansion.
That's just crazy.
I could
kinda
see them not wanting to say how many, 'cause that might be a bit spoilery (by a hell of a stretch), but not even what size? Like somebody's gonna say, "It takes mini-European-sized sleeves? I'm not buying this game!!!"
I honestly don't know why everyone is pre-ordering this, especially in bulk . That seems a little reckless. I'm not preordering JACK; I'll wait until I see it in the stores, I'll look at the box and the models and see if it's even worth my time & money to get started. It's not like you won't be able to find any!

Yep, me too (thought I know myself well enough that I probably won't be able to resist). And I hope you're right that they will be easy enough to find.
I just have to say, I love how this is the post we keep coming back to. Lingster should get an award for getting it started
It was MM's preorder price that lured me in. This type of stuff usually sells strictly for MSRP around these parts, and that's pretty heavy.
Definitely wouldn't buy in bulk, though; one of each ship will do for me until I figure out if this game is fun or not.

Q3 started today. Maybe they are talking about Australian summer 2012?
I'm pretty sure we've got one month left of Q2. But I'm not expecting this game before August.
True. Maths and me not friends.
I finally got a response about card sleeves, and it had more to do with the fact that I sent the first request to the wrong department. Anyway, they had this to say:
"The information will be available around the time when X-Wings take to the skies! Stay tuned to our web site for all of the latest news!"
So I guess I have to get my card sleeves after the game is released.
Techniccally X-Wings already took to the skies a long time ago, albeit in a galaxy far, far away….

I love all the exclamation marks in that response. It's like, "Thanks for the email! We're not gonna tell you a **** thing! Isn't that
exciting
?!?"

Sounds like a pre-fabricated cut-and-paste response to me. That's probably the answer they give to any question about the game.
