Nice to be back painting walkers. It's always good to alternate between the two. Anyway, here are the base colours for the Hans:
All the joints were very loose in this figure, so it was nice to use a few layers of paint to make them tighter. The axis had no green walker, so I thought this would be a nice fit for this recon unit. Plus it should go nicely with the theme I'm planning for this.
That looks solid. Did you do that with a brush?
Yes, did it with a brush. It's pretty solid, though maybe the grainy image might be helping it a bit...
That green reminds me of orcs! That would be a great ork vehicle for warghhh

Well, what I had in mind was "crocodile", but I guess "orc" works as well:
Here are the final touches before the wash. Bunch of decals, some chipping and a set of teeth!
This was a request by my fellow axis player, who thought the Hans' head looked like a crocodile. I just painted the teeth in, and added a thin black line to one side to highlight them. I might to some more shading and stuff to the teeth after the wash. I decided to use those chameleon decals because 1-It's a reptile, 2-Chameleons are able to swivel their eyes independently to look at two things at the same time, just like the Hans' weapons. Because I had both black and white chameleons, I used the black one underneath to create a shadow for the white one.
That's exactly what I wanted! Looks awesoooooooome! The crocodile look is a reminder that Hans almost killed your heavy walker, the Turtle! But I liked the "orc" idea too...

Done with the Hans! And really happy with the final result:
Applied Badab Black wash, without caring about leaving vertical streaks. Then highlighted with a lighter green and some mythril silver on the legs. Did some simple, but quite effective, sponge chipping with a dark gray. The teeth were a little darkened by the wash, so I added just a white line to the front side of them. This was enough to make them stand out much more, without making them look off from the stained look of the rest of the walker. It also created a nice illusion of volume with the pure white on one side, stained white in the middle and black line on the other side. I also added a thin black line to the division of the jaw so that it was clearly seen.

Loophole, have you seen that the Games Workshop wash lines have been dropped? They stopped producing the washes! A store told me they will release new material in the next few weeks.
I found a store here in Porto Alegre that allegedly sells Vallejo products. I'm eager to go there and see what they have!

Yeah, I saw that the washes disappeared from GW's website. Very weird, hope they replace it soon with a new line, cause I'm at my last bottles...
GW discontinued the old line and came out with a new one. There has been tons of talk about it for weeks on other hobby boards. Here is a link to the replacements. A new line called Shades.

games-workshop.com the new line is 145 paints now. Still expensive but they are available now. I use primarily vallejo but I do have the old foundation paints and washes, and some select paints from GW. Some of the new GW stuff looks like its worth trying out.

I just wish they said what shades replace what washes, since the names are different…

Vallejo does indeed make washes. I have and use them as well. You will do fine with those.
Here's the progress on the last unit form the Revised Set, the ugly duckling himself, Blackhawk:
I'm surprised never to have seen an actual black Blackhawk before. Makes perfect sense to me… Anyway, pretty simple base colours, some decals and a wash. Just missing the highlights and weathering, which will probably change it considerably, making the details much more visible among all this black.

Just wondering, do u leave your bases empty or do them up in a particular theme?
The Blackhawk actually looks a sleek and deadly warmachine, for once. Sort of a "night fighter" livery, which fits with the weapons equipped. Great job!

Yeah, this paint scheme does make it look much more menacing. My only doubt is how much highlight to apply to the main body, do I break up all that black or do I leave it intact?…
try doing a highlight with very dark grey and see if that looks good else just stick with the black

I decided to leave the black of the cabin pretty much intact, so I just fif some highlighting on the corners. To compensate, I went to town on the front plate. It still looks akward (those skinny legs….) but I think it looks much better than your average Blackhawk…
Good Job! If i hadn't planned to make my blackhawk a polish khaki i would steal that one!
