What other Forums are there for SWRPG?

By tank0625, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Since they are closing down the forum. Where is the best place to go?

I’m curious too. Discord isn’t a viable substitute for a discussion forum. Imagine a forum that’s basically one thread and everyone posts a sentence at a time every few seconds, and all posts go away after a little while.

Discord is awful. Perhaps the Edge Studio will have an option when they are up.

The only other options outside discord I can think of are the various fan groups for the order 66 podcast and the god forsaken hellsite that is reddit.

While I'm a shill for the discord server (It's fast moving, sure, but posts don't go away, the search function is much better than this forum imo),
I can recommend the subreddit. It's a good community of people.

The one place I would say to avoid like the plague are the facebook groups. They are run by a group of racist, weirdly politically affiliated people.

Social Media in general is the devil.

He says, posting on social media.

Well, that's lame.

Also, Discords are not substitutes for forums.

So if there's any other forums that at least have a little room for this or other FFG games would be nice.

BoardGameGeek has some forums, which are free, already dedicated to various FFG product lines. The RPG forums don't see a ton of traffic, but if users from here migrate it may become more interesting.

I'm getting misty at the thought of not seeing a wall of " You've chosen to ignore content by *insert idiot X*" when I look at posts...... 😢

Any word about Edge opening up a forum?

Call me a Boomer if you wish, but yes Facebook, Discord, Twitter, Redditt is not for me when discussing games. I've used the first two, not the last two, but I need an actual old school forum for my RPG discussions.

The SWRPG subreddit is a solid community, for sure. I'll have to check out the discord.

Hey, boomer, solid mid/elder millennial here and I will take a good forum over anything, any day. I don't mind Discord, but how did we as a society swing around back to chat rooms?

Give me another day to finish configuring, and mySWRPG will have a forum for anyone interested.

Please post a link here when you're ready. :)

So going the route of WOTC and burning the whole library down. Geeze. It sucks starting to get into a game and finding out that the years of accumulated knowledge are going to be tossed down the sarlacc pit.

I would be surprised if Edge opens forums. FFG isn't just closing their RPG forums, they are closing all of their forums--including for ongoing FFG games like X-wing. This is a trend I've seen among a lot of game companies in recent years, and I would be truly surprised if Edge doesn't follow it by not opening public forums, especially as they are owned by the same parent entity as FFG.

Not just game companies. For example, DC Comics abandoned their forums years ago in favor of Facebook. And now, their Facebook page is closed to open posts, allowing only their own promotional posts. They’ve also eliminated the contact links from their entire online presence within the last couple years, after they’d previously directed readers to those links to submit to the books’ letter columns, then dropping letter columns entirely from the books.

Oh, I remember the old DC boards. They made youtube comments seem like havens of civility and sanity.

I remember participating in a year-long back and forth with someone over the No Man’s Land storyline in the Batman books. 🙄

The basics are live. After I clock out of work for the day, I’ll be working on tweaking small features, bells, and whistles.

mySWRPG Forums

RPG Crossing is a site that I use for RPG. Star Wars games always get a lot of attention, even if it's mainly a D&D and Pathfinder player base.
