The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]

But, knowing Star Wars as we do, the writers probably wanted it to actually be one of Anakin's.

Well... Anakin's podracer was sold to Sebulba. I'm pretty comfortable saying it's just a resemblance.

They probably got the thrusters as scrap from similar podracers.

The camera zoomed in on some burn marks around the same panel of he "bad motivator" from R5, so yep I believe that's the intention.

R5 - with the same scorch marks - was also in the cantina in last season’s “The Gunslinger.” One of the behind the scenes reels (probably in a Disney Gallery episode, I just don’t recall where exactly), they’ve said that, yes, it’s R5-D4.

Yeah, pretty huge krayt pearl! My daughter was so excited and immediately looked it up in F&D. Is that were it first came from? Are they get inspiration directly from the RPG?!

Krayt Dragon Pearls are originally from Bioware's 2003 game Knights Of The Old Republic, where they were a slightly overpowered lightsaber crystal.

Aye,

Except there's no way your stuffing this one into a Lightsaber hilt! It was massive. Perhaps due to the Krayt Dragons size and age?

Also did a little bit of research on the Krayt Dragon. It seems the one we're most familiar with is the Canyon Krayt Dragon, which had legs and is typically smaller. The one in the show is apparently a Greater Krayt Dragon, with a very long neck but still has legs and a tail further back. 🤔

Also, it is said to secrete venom from it's teeth, not sure if thats what we saw necessarily but cool nonetheless.

I more dismissive of the actual writers who have been completely unable to imagine Star Wars characters to use hyperbole, lie, or just plain not know what they are talking about. This kind of attitude also means the Star Wars universe can't ever have myths that are not 100% true. And whenever two characters say different things about the same subject, 20 years apart, canon must be twisted so that they are both correct. This gets ridiculous when four different writers, independently from each other and without any kind of oversight, are each going to tell the tale of how the Death Star plans got stolen.

It's one of the things I dislike most about many fandoms.

This. A million times this.
Every sarcastic sneer, every hoodwink and every self aggrandizing ’fact’ has seen a literal interpretation. Han’s “12 Parsecs” went from a bullshitters con to fact. Jabba waxing poetic about his victim’s suffering has to turn into animals, for no reason whatsoever, suddenly having a lifespan of millenia and being kept alive by the creature (who ate them) sustaining its prey with infinitely more nutrients than they will ever deliver.

It's Star Wars. It's space fantasy. It's not hard scifi. It's not meant to be scientific or factual and I hope it never is. You can disagree with other fan's speculations and the biggest most researched and sourced Star Wars fansite out there, but it comes down to personal opinions and fantasy. That's what makes it fun for many of us.

It can be fantasy while bullshitters remain bullshitters.

Deleted, was just a personal response taking away from the thread's intention.

He's actually talking about Han and Jabba.

(at least, I think he is)

I was.
As should have been 100% clear from the post I made before that where I specifically called out Han as a bullshitter.

That wasn't The Great Pit of Carkoon, though.

The victim isn't necessarily alive that entire time. Yes the sarlacc keeps them alive, but for how long? Their natural lifespan? Far past? If so, then I'd be interested as to how, as I imagine you'd have a lot of scientists combing it over for the elixir of life.

And everyone needs to remember that Boba naturally ages slower than the clones as he was not a victim of the Kaminoan's advanced aging. He'd only be about 40 right now, if I did the math correctly. (22 BBY+10=32, 32+9=41, yep, I think I'm right)

Yes and the actor is 59.

Boba is a proper clone, completely identical to Jango Fett in every way. He should be about 40 and look about 40.

The Clone Troopers have been upgraded, one of the modifications being rapid ageing.

Yeah except at this point in the time line Boba should be 41 and Rex should be about 80 biologically. But that actor is 59 so he doesn’t look like either of them should.

He doesn’t look it.
He also has lived in a scorching hot desert for a while. That doesn’t work wonders on ones skin.

I checked again. Definitely Kyuzo, and probably Zuvio.

I'd like to see some more creatures/minor characters from ST. Even if you have problems with ST it is visually stunning and the designs are mostly pretty great. Sarco Plank! How cool does he look! Let's have some Melitto character show up! Or one of my personal favorites, Sidon Ithano!

Anyone know what Goresh is talking about when he said "I swear by Gorta"?

This I believe.

Just rewatched this. Trying to look closely, I didn't see anyone or anything actually melt away like the spit was acid. It just showed multiple victims falling over bathed in the stuff. Also, when Mando came out of the dragon, he was coated in the stuff. Not just his armor was coated. His cloth neck piece (part of his cloak?) was coated green. If it was acid, that should have at least been easily damaged. So, I think the dragon's spit is supposed to be poison, not acid. Mando in his suit of armor is thus not affected?

I re-watched it and watched closely for this. If you look at the acid attack when the dragon bursts from the top of the mountain, just before the "It's picking us off like womp rats!" line, you see at least one of the silhouettes of the sand people hit dissolving into what seems to be not much more than a puddle. It's subtle, and I too missed it at first, but yeah, it seems like they're nearly instantaneously dissolved.

Of course, it's possible that the venom isn't the stomach acid, or even if it is, Mandy didn't end up all the way into the stomach of the thing. Meaning that what he was coated in was could've been a less concentrated solution of the stuff and/or just saliva or some other bodily fluid.

On the other hand, it's just as likely that someone gets the bright idea to canonize that Mandy has a beskar-weave scarf based off this. 🙄

It seems a bit odd to me that someone would swear by that. My guess is that they just threw in "the Gotra" without checking to see if it was already something.

Could be, though.

Could be that "Gotra" is a third thing that both this guy and the Droid Gotra refers to.

It's a crime syndicate thingy... But yeah, who knows.

As for the first episode of season two...

This is the way. ^_^

It started off well, and improved as it went on.

When I heard "Mando on Tatooine," my first thought was that it was a bum lead, operating on old intel of Mando himself. Then my immediate second thought was that it was Cobb Vanth. It pleased me to no end that it was the latter.
Through sheer coincidence, my Mandalorian clan ended up getting named Vanth, and it was only later that I realized there was a pseudo-Mando named Vanth. I thought that was an awesome story, and am very glad that it got brought up.

Thoughts in no particular order or completeness:
1. Pit droids are as pit droid-y as ever.
2. I know someone who is going to be very bummed that the spaceport lady showed up again.
3. It's a cowboy movie. I watched enough of those as a kid (heck, I've still got an entire movie shelf double-stacked full of VHSs) that I know very well what a cowboy movie looks like, and this wasn't even trying to hide it. Right down to the windmill.
4. The dragon was awesome . They handled it perfectly. It's the perfect Star Wars blend of fantasy, sci-fi, and western. Harpoons, explosives, getting eaten by a dragon and then flying back out, feeding it a (or multiple) cow(s)...
5. Total GM move with the "it'd sense the vibrations." That is such a GM "I've got to find some way to make this interesting so they don't just blow it up with their ship" move. Love it.
6. Krayt Dragon pearl!
7. Mando speaking Tusken was awesome.
8. This is far and away the superior Tatooine episode.
9. "Engine with a seat" podracer speeder bike was awesome.
10. This is the way, I have spoken.

did you recognize whose engine it was?

Yes, it bears a passing resemblance to Anakin's. However, as discussed earlier, it does not mean that it is. Merely that there is a resemblance, easily explained by a common origin.

Anakin built his from scratch, so unlikely to be any others like it
