Yaimpar be te Bes'uliik prep thread

By P-47 Thunderbolt, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

Ok, I now have both tech based source books :)

now we just have to raid some abandoned Republic/Separatist bases for supplies! :D

<_< It did occur to me that the droid builder would want to refurbish an army of Droidekas.

Oooohhhh... droidekas!

I thought B1 would be fun, also thinking of using Vultures as a starting point for the prototype.

She'll probably make a scale prototype first...

I shouldn't have mentioned it... :(

Sounds fun, I'll see what I can think up.

Are you ready to try to prep gear? (which includes crafting, if you are so inclined)

I believe so?

I'd hate to blow all my credits on crafting fun, and totally forget about weapons, Armor and gear.. :)

Well if you go for the stock Beskar'gam, that leaves you with 7,000 credits. Since you've got Deft Maker, the basic droid chassis aren't all that expensive.

I'd suggest you figure out which droid(s) you want to build, and then see about getting additional gear, though you'll at least need tools first.

That brings up another question: Which is your secondary mechanics skill?

I'm thinking about a companion droid, Like an ID-9/ID-10.. something that can help with repairs/assembly, a little bit of slicing, possibly stim pack dispenser.. I've see the play walk through of Battlefront and really liked Iden's little droid. I've gone through the Special Modifications, and it looks kinda limiting on making one.. I'm guessing the ID line is a Monotask/possible specialist chassis?

Depends on how expensive you want to go, but for droid companion, I'd suggest a Specialist Chassis as it gives you the most general characteristics, and therefore the most usefulness for a variety of skills. As for Stimpack dispenser, you've got hidden storage 1, so you could apply that to the droid and have him store up stims for you. If you want a small one, I'm willing to reduce the silhouette by 1 (to 0) but lower the WT to 5 and Soak to 2, sort of splitting the difference between the two chassis.

Speaking of splitting the difference, I'll make it a Hard check, but you've got to drop a Characteristic, if you are going for the small size.

I would suggest getting some crafting (like tool kits and such) under your belt before trying to craft the droid, though, just to get some Boost/reduce difficulty for the check.

Maybe craft some Monotask Droids and give him some buddies (or minions :D ).

For the record I would absolutely love to have one of those droids like Iden has in the future. That thing is awesome.

ok, lets see if i do this right...

Tool kit for Droid spec: : 3eP+1eD 4 successes
p-s-s.png p-a.png p-s-s.png d-th.png

Ok.. I guess I don't have any talents to convert the extra success into advantages, so what do I get out of this?

let's try another.. Tool kit for Droid Spec: : 3eP+1eD 1 success, 3 advantage
p-s.png p-a-a.png p-s-a.png d-f.png

well now.. that gives me.. Safety Features, "add automatic Advantage to checks with the General skill chosen for this tool.."

You have a couple options here. With the first Tool kit, you just get a basic tool kit for droid building. With the second, you can use the advantage to improve the tool kit, or you can use it to purchase "Lessons Learned" (2a) to reduce the difficulty of your next crafting check, or you can spend some on "Practice Makes Perfect" to add Boost to the next check you make with this skill (which would be your next crafting check). You have other options for improving your tool kit, and the automatic 1 Advantage would be useful for crating droids, but if you add Boost/remove difficulty it is easier to get good results on your crafting checks. For example, if you were to take 3 Boost and craft a Monotask droid, you'd be rolling 3eP+3eB versus 2eD. Let's say you get 3s5a, you could make that into reduce difficulty once, add 3 Boost. Then if you were to go straight to crafting a modified specialist chassis, you'd be rolling 3eP+3eB versus 2eD giving you pretty good Advantage potential, especially since Boost have more Advantage than Success.

Ok, I had to pull out the sheet on that to get what you were saying, I even re-read it to make sure I understood it :D :D

So, Practice + Lessons For Monotask Droid Chassis: : 3eP+1eB+1eD 2 successes, 2 advantage
p-a-a.png p-s-s.png p-s-a.png b--.png d-f-th.png

nice...

ok, taking Practice - Specialist Chassis: : 3eP+2eB+4eD 2 successes, 2 advantage, 1 Triumph
p-s.png p-a-a.png p-tr.png b-a-a.png b-a-a.png d--.png d-th.png d-th.png d-th-th.png

:O oh, my! I'll Reinforce the Chassis (x2), and Chassis Schematic to reduce the difficulty of this chassis.

Nice! So you've got a single monotask droid chassis (300 credits) and a single specialist droid chassis (2,250). Are you going for the small size, or for the regular one?

how big are standard size?

(I forgot they were cheaper, lol...)

Human-sized (sil 1). If you go for the small one, it's sil 0.

The smaller ones are less difficult, so we'd just drop the last Difficulty die. The price is the same, but they have a lower WT and Soak and 1 reduced characteristic. (Your choice)

If we make the Mono's roughly human torso sized, like an up scaled ID-9 / ID-10... I'm thinking Viper probe droid shape, but First Order BB head with a R2 style body, half the size of Chopper... With Probe droid-like legs that have the tools attached that aren't inside the body... (would that be considered sil 1?)

Might make Spec one that sized as well... the more advanced version of the mono's?

oooh, like this! yan-morala-11092-11-c47fb6e378894a47c56a

I'm thinking with evil BB head, and arm/legs out the bottom...

Sounds good! Do the two models of droid look the same? Is it sort of like having a Rival version of a Minion?

Since you built a smaller one, the difficulty is actually reduced by one, so we'll drop the last difficulty die which gives you 4 Advantage instead of 2. Aside from the additional Advantage, does that change your expenditure?

.. Yeah, that sounds like a plan! will this design make them all Sil 0?

So making This Specialist Chassis will cost 1eD less due to it's size of Sil 0 ? (will the Chassis Schematic option I chose now make this model permanently 2eD?)

Yes on all counts.

I'll make a Model name/number so you'll know what shenanigans I'm doing...

@ShockHelix There is Droid shenanigans in your future! ( now to talk P-47 into allowing droids giving Boosts/Advantages when used to help craft things!)
