(Easy Target also comes to mind 🤣 )
Someone has being doing their Canon and EU research 🥂
Oh you know why it's the first word that comes to mind! You know exactly why.
Now...
For some flavor text.

The Y-Wing is the oldest Starfighter still in official military service, predating other contemporaries such as the ARC-170, V-Wing and other Clone Wars fighters. Out of all of them, it has the most decorated service record, notably used against The Malevolence, both Death Stars, and now has been employed to fight The First Order, and the rising Sith threat, once again.
The most shocking aspect of this fighter is that its spaceframe dates back to its initial run of The Clone Wars. Y-Wings serving today are sometimes older than every generation of pilot that had flown it, and a handful had seen most of the aforementioned battles.
The BTA-NR2 Y-Wing Starfighter has been streamlined, with additional cowling added to the rear structure of the vessel and the thrusters overhauled for superior agility- largely to offset the refit canopy that is slightly more aerodynamic, and has been extended to facilitate a manned, well protected gunner, much like its Old Republic grandfather- lessons learned from both eras that came before it.
The BTA-NR2 is more agile that its predecessors, and is capable of fielding auxiliary modern technologies alongside everything that came before it. It may lack the superior protective plating of its forebear, but it makes up for it in increased maneuverability.
Though it is 56 years old, the Y-Wing is expected to continue its fight, until there is simply no fight left to
be
fought.
Considering the state of the galaxy, that this is the last time the Y-Wing will respond to the call of duty, is unlikely.

So here's my predictions.
More blues on its dial. If not more blues, straight up less reds. NO idea what its ability will be, but I suspect it will have one. Will keep its bomb and torpedo slot, turret too (if the lego stuff is any indication), and will gain a tech slot. Now, here's the thing. How can it have not JUST upgrades to the Rebel Y-Wing?
Well look me in the eye and tell me the T-70 isn't flat out BETTER than the T-65. But what's the balance? Reversal of what the S-Foils does (but better, bullseye heyoooo!) and frankly, higher cost.
If you thought the Republic Y-Wing cost was unfair, just wait for this. Now then, you should also consider that the Y-Wing will have an interesting set of pilots on it too, and it'll have to be ABLE to stand up on its own.
Say it with me.
Snap on a Y-Wing.
Snap on a Y-Wing.
