PbP Recruitment: Dark Times: Bounty Hunting Doesn't Pay

By Sincereagape, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

Should the character have the same number of earned XP and extra credits as the rest of the party?

I.e., +15 xp and +1,200 cr.?

OK, I didn't add that into Kurokage.

Thank you for the answer!

That will change a little bit of my character set-up re xp/cash availability.

*scurries off to re-calculate some things; won't be back for several hours as I have to sleep soon (I'm in C.E.T. time zone)*

ETA Update with extra xp/credits is now complete.

@Sincereagape

Looking at the group's Obligation in the first post in the OOC thread, I see an unlabelled gap, 1-10 %. What does this represent? Does the group as a whole have 10% Obligation to the Ragnar Syndicate (because they work for it)?

If so, should I include in my character a 10-point Obligation along the lines of Contract-(ed) to the Ragnar Syndicate?

(I'm trying to sort out how Navi's Obligation should look like, and how it fits in with the rest of the group's Obligation.)

Given that you're a Force user, like I am, you don't need an Obligation. You get to use Morality instead.

4. All may start with up to 10 obligation points to spend.

5. Force users may follow rules for conflict instead of obligation.

True, but I would like to try Obligation and see how that particular responsibility system works/feels. (I already have two Morality-driven characters in other games, therefore the urge to try something different.)

Well, that makes a difference. 😎

I skipped 1-10 because I wanted to see if the double trigger into affect. IE rolling a 11, 22, 33 to cause a double lose in strain. :)

Pick any obligation you want. Doesn't have to be to the Ragnar Syndicate unless you want it to be.

@Edgehawk @Bellona @MrTInce @Tramp Graphics @Rabobankrider - Hi guys happy new year and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for participating in Bounty Hunting: It has been my most successful PbP game to date. Appreciate your patience for my inconsistencies. Tabletop games are my favorite hobby at the moment and something I have always been passionate about.

I'm in the process of formulating the details of my next PbP campaign/story. I've spoken to Tramp and Bellona about continuing to the next story via PM, and I wanted to invite the rest of you to have priority slots in the next game.

It will be a semi-continuation of Bounty Hunting.

-Year is 13BBY (2 years after Bounty Hunting). Empire is still at the height of their power. No official rebellion has formed. Only operating cell at the moment is Saw Gerra.

-Instead of being Bounty Hunters, the group will consist of altruistic/light side force users along with their non-force using allies who are sympathetic to the Jedi or anti-Empire/Evil. With room for 1-2 "grey characters" (With special permission, maybe Mercs who are being paid (Not much) for a job).

-Knight Level Campaign (165 exp post Species + Duty/Obligation/Morality bonus ex [10]). Max level of skills for starting characters will be 3. All other Knight Level Rules. You may translate your characters from Bounty Hunting Doesn't Pay if you believe they will fit. Navi + Kurokage came to mind immediately.

-It will be an anti-Imperial campaign. So you'll be facing storm troopers, death troopers, imperial guards, imperial assassins, officers, scout troopers, dark troopers, ISB, Tie Fighters, Star Destroyers, AT-ST, AT-AT, Imperial Hands etc.

-The campaign will be centered around obtaining/protecting Jedi/Sith Artifacts from Imperial Treasure Hunters/ISB agents.

-So expect higher than street level.

-All other details will be ironed out in the future, especially any questions you may have

Edit: Hoping to have non-combat skills not overlap to much between characters.

-If you are unable to join or don't want to join, no hard feelings. I'm expecting the campaign/story to go on for the entire year of 2020.

Cheers!

and thanks again.

What platform are you planning to use for this game? I might be interested in playing an Archaeologist-type character.

The platform would be pbp on the forums.

Sorry I meant I’ve spoken to bell and tramp via pm about continuing as Kage and Navi

Just to check, we are still finishing the bounty hunter one as well?

I'd be happy to join this game idea, sounds interesting! Depending on what others come up with I'm sat on a few ideas. I'm torn between a padawan exile who's sort of gone down the 'charming rouge' path, very social skill focused with some duelling, and a baran-do sage who's well past it but can help the others with some knowledge.

Yep! We'll be finishing Bounty Hunting Doesn't Pay. This one will not start until mid/late January.

So far...

@Edgehawk ( Archaeologist ) - Scholar/Knowledge skills?

@Rabobankrider Padawan - Social/Charming Rogue or Sage/Knowledge?

edit: @Bellona - Astrogation/Mechanics - backup pilot

Navi will probably stick with being the Astrogation specialist who can Pilot in a pinch (fine for piloting milk runs, not so great for daring pilot manoeuvres during combat), and branch out into Mechanics (maybe pick up the Manipulate power from EV). So more of a co-pilot/mechanic, while secretly continuing with a Jedi-related specialization or three. (Oof, that's a lot of XP used just there!)

@Sincereagape

How much cash for equipment will each character start off with?

For those who want one, how much for a pretty kyber crystal? (Both those which come "with some assembly required" and those which are already inside a lightsabre.)

Edited by Bellona

@Bellona

Non-Force Users start off with 10,000 credits worth of equipment. Any items rarity 8 or higher requires a successful negotiations or knowledge underworld roll. Daunting roll for 8-9 and Formidable for Rarity 10.

-Force Users start off with 1,500 credits and a kyber crystal of their choice for a light-saber + free credits for LS hilt construction.. My little brother gave me Endless Vigl for a Christmas present this past season! So we'll be using Endless Vigil for LS crafting.

-Characters from Bounty Hunting Doesn't Pay IE: Navi/Kurokage may carry over credits earned from that story into this one.

@Sincereagape , is there a way that I could swap the lightsaber skill for the melee skill? I was looking to take makashi duellist for the character but I had the idea for the backstory that he'd basically sold his lightsaber but retained the knowledge to be able to duel with regular swords etc. I was also wondering if they weren't taking lightsaber if I could go for the non-force user equipment start equipment, as I was working on the idea of the character having done quite well for himself after Order 66 financially.

@Rabobankrider Hmm. Going to say no on swapping Melee/LS skills. Conceptually, the character would have to learn how to use a regular sword, after using the LS most of his/her life. The character can invest in the skill as a non-career skill if the Makashi Duelist/Face is the path they choose. There are alternatives such as the Contained Energy Axe, Ancient Sword, or Philaxian Phase-Knife.

Yes on not taking the LS and starting off with non-force user equipment rules. 10,000 starting credits + Additional Morality/Obligation investments.

@Sincereagape , that's fair (if you never ask you never know). Thematically if he takes an ancient sword can it be narrated as having a more rapier style to it? It would match the whole noble concept I'm going for with him. I've not done equipment yet but this is what I have for the current character idea: http://swsheets.com/c/xjm0tuubn-morl-lunx

Hello!

Is this still open? I've been wanting to join a PBP for a while now but have yet to get the chance with one that interests me. Love the setting!

This would however be my first attempt at a PBP, I'm currently running a 6 player table Campaign and as such have an itch to be a PC! I'm very timely with posts if that helps.

Let me know if it's open and I'll get a character together.

Same question as the above! I've been wanting to play SWRPG pbp for a while now! Don't let my non-existent post count here fool you, i've been very active on other boards for other systems for the past decade or so, but am currently group/gameless, so looking for a new long term game!

It looks like Sincereagape is MIA, and has not been on-line here since 10 January 6 February. I have no idea what their status is at the moment.
