Ral notices a commotion. He sees Vietra react to something...
Edited by bsmith23Reach of the Empire IC
Hale feels the sensation and instantly has his head on a swivel, dropping into a ready stance. He spots the man reaching for what Hale guesses to be his blaster and springs forwards, slipping slightly in the sand as he runs. Ducking through the crowd, he cuts through the water and pushes towards the man, but he clearly won't get there before the man pulls his blaster. Wanting to close the distance before he pulls his own blaster, for fear of collateral damage, he doesn't stop, but keeps charging forwards, ready to dive out of the way the moment the man tries to shoot him.
In the elevator Briar had discovered that the elevator goes much deeper than the resort has floors, Shouldn't look into that now, then she had gone back to her room and changed into her off duty clothes then gone to find the other members of the task force.
She had found them on the beach. Briar was moving towards them when she saw a change in the task force's posture and the figure that Hale was head towards, she shifts closer to the figure hoping that she hasn't been recognized as an Imperial while trying to come up with how to resolve the situation quickly, and finding that rather difficult.
Stood within the crowd with his arms crossed, Den is enjoying the more familiar atmosphere of the violent pass time. Pushing his way towards the front of the crowd se he gets a better view he suddenly feels a shiver pass through him. Glancing around he grits his teeth a little as he waits for it to pass. "Weird" he mutters to himself before turning back to the ring. Den is surprised to see Hale charging forwards, and calls out to him. "Oi! What're you doing? I think you have to wait to be called for a fight!"
Aware he has been compromised, Crispin quickly retrieves a small device from his belt, then tugs a hood up over his face. The imperial agent has alerted her team, but they will not reach him in time. The rogue operative presses the button on the detonator, and the beach explodes.
Nils has been using the Shoals as a training area, and has planned for this contingency. The shaped charges have been placed deep enough that little lasting harm should come of them, but the blast is enough to send a wave of sand and saltwater into his pursuers.
Above in the resort, the explosion signals to his partners that it’s go-time.
(Target is now obscured, so 2 Setbacks to attacks, at any range. Hale and Veitra (and anyone else approaching within Short range) suffer 11 Strain. A successful Hard Athletics or Coordination check can reduce this to 6 Strain, but this option is in lieu of further Action this turn. Checks made by any within Short range of the blast will also Upgrade one Difficulty die to a Challenge die, with Despair meaning temporary blindness
@P-47 Thunderbolt @Von3679)The sand and water hits him from behind, tossing him up in the air and getting in his eyes, mouth, and nose as it envelopes him. He rolls into a tumble as he hits the ground, quickly springing back up and continuing his rush towards the man.
Edited by P-47 ThunderboltNot wearing a helmet, so no "clogging helmet filters" :P
Evon almost finished his 3rd mantellian plume stake when Veitra's harsh warning and the subtle earthshake woke him up. The scent of the brualgi vanished, only the saliva-soaked pillow reminded him of the fine meal.
,,Well, the bomber-being definitely owes me an expensive dinner!" He thought as he hastily picka up the field equipment and holsters his blaster. As he leaves his room, he signs in to the task force channel.
,,This is Doctor Taltron, what's the status boys? You can't party without fireworks?"

It takes the duros a long moment to realise that they may actually be under attack. With a low groan of annoyance he reaches into his jacket and pulls out his pistol. "Alright, nothing to see here!" he shouts loudly, glancing around. When nobody moves he pulls the trigger, blasting the air a number of times. "I said, nothing to see here!"
Smiling a little he fires a few more rounds as he begins pushing people in the direction of the shore. "Oh now you're running! That's right, keep going, this definitely isn't imperial business or anything, so keep your mouths shut on this!" As the majority leave the area, the soldier begins to move forwards towards the see. He was painfully aware he was missing his laminate, but there was nothing to be done about that.
Sensing the disturbance and the presence of a familiar force user Drogos rushes as quick as he can to where he sensed it. Shortly there after an explosion would sound, The inquisitor arrives at the scene and surveys the area quickly. The Beach was chaotic with people running to where the source of the explosion was, then out of the corner of his eye a lone individual was running in the opposite direction, stretching out with his mind Drogos attempts to catch the individual surprisingly enough the individual was disciplined enough to resist the inquisitor but not without great struggle.
Many of the fighters and spectators seem to take the subtle hint provided by Luks, imperial business or not. Some others are obviously less inclined to discontinue fighting on the beach. In a near facsimile to military precision, the ten remaining Squamatans break off into two teams, keeping themselves between Crispin and the two imperials approaching through the shallows.
Spitting venom is not the most effective tactic in the prevailing conditions, spitting into the wind. A fierce burning sensation in Veitra’s eyes indicates there is more than just sand and water to contend with, however. The group with Hale has no luck with their natural defenses, and opts to just rush in, as much as rushing is possible.
(Squamatan squads of 5 each, lie between Crispin and Hale, Veitra. Veitra is hit with Venom. Daunting Resilience or Blinded until end of Next turn. Veitra gains a Boost to the check from npc Threat. The ones on Hale use Advantage to close to Engaged).
Suddenly, out of the crowd, burst a masked, cloaked figure. Twirling his pistols as he charged, he sent a flurry of bolts streaking toward the closest Squamatans, slamming into three of them.
Veitra, just before she got hit by the venom, dashed forward, before calling on her unique gift, the one, jumping and sailing a short distance through the air to land closer to Crispin, but was still a short distance from him, having definitely jumped further than a normal person could.
Two of the Squamatan brawlers fall as the Imperials unleash a volley of azure rings into the unruly crowd. Their companions squat down to help keep their crechelings from drowning in the shallow water. It could be a trick of the light, a lingering flash from the explosion, but a flash of crimson flashes into the water amidst the chaos.
Edited by EdgehawkHale grabs onto the rogue agent, trying to tackle him into the sand, but the man is surprisingly resilient and refuses to go down. As they twist around, shuffling in the sand, neither man succeeds in downing the other. Hale successfully drives a knee into the man's stomach, but now that the stormtrooper is off-balance, the operative shoves him back and gains some separation, enabling him to break away from the fight, or reset to charge back in at will.
Now covered in sand from the explosion Briar notices the red flash in the water as she pulls out her blaster pistol she realizes That looked like a plasma bolt. she follows its trajectory to the observation platform, she sees the outline of a figure on the platform "Shooter on the observation platform!" she yells out to the rest of the task force, before firing just wide of one of the Squamatans.
Crispin twists away, then dives right back into the fray, with a flurry of blows. The rogue operative is not as powerfully built as Hale, but is obviously both gifted and well trained in unarmed combat. Briefly gaining control of the trooper’s arm, he tries to force him down into the water. Hale twists free, but receives a solid kick in his side as he backs off.
Crispin backs away as well, away from Hale and the beach, though the water remains barely more than ankle deep.
Above, the revealed sniper does not hesitate. It is too late to silence the officer who discovered his nest, so he follows through with his shot, this one striking true. The inquisitor hardly flinches as he is hit from behind, squarely between his broad shoulders, though it’s a stinger of a blow.
(
@P-47 Thunderbolt Hale takes 5 Wounds before applying Soak; @Shlambate Drogos is hit for 11, also before Soak, plus a Stinger (40) Crit: increase Difficulty of next check by 1).Some of the Squamatan brawlers quickly insert themselves between Hale and the retreating Crispin, knocking the latter down into the shallow water when he attempts to go through them.
It is also at this moment that Lieutenant Commander Somar receives an alert on his fob indicating a security breach on the Phantom.
(Hale is Successfully attacked by the first group, but no strain/dmg is inflicted past a Soak; Knockdown is triggered by advantages, however
@P-47 Thunderbolt. @bsmith23 The alert means that someone is attempting unauthorized entry, at the least)."FRAK!! Someone's screwing with the Phantom! I'm gonna check it out. Can I get some backup?!" Somar doesn't wait for an answer, however, and dashes off towards the landing pad.
Seeing their sergeant chasing the... whoever that is, Banshee squad helps Luks with crowd control, hastening them along. Once that is done, they turn and begin rushing towards the scrum between Hale, the guy he's chasing, and the squamatans.
Veitra runs forward, towards Crispin, her focus fully on the male. As she ran, she quickly drew her blaster and fired, but the shot went wide, slamming into the ground beside the target.
”Oh come on...”
she groaned as she watched.
At Briars shout, Den's head snaps up to look in the direction of the shooter. Raising his pistol, he squints down the sight as he considers taking a shot. "Ah that's not going to work" he mutters, deciding the range is in fact too far. Turning on his heel he begins to sprint across the beach, shouting over his shoulder "I'm on it, nobody get shot while I'm gone!"
Lowering his head, the sergeant sprints as fast as can back to try and reach the balcony. Lungs burning he realises he probably should have warmed up first at least as he feels a cramp start to form. "Agh spit this hurts". He grunts between laboured breath.
Evon hurries to the scene as fast as he can, pushing aside some strolling costumers in the run. ,,I need a blasted breakfast after this!"
The doctor hears the rumble before even setting an eye to the shore. Pistol drawn, he can barely follow the chaos erupted, seeing the rest of the task force entangled in the twister of sand, water and crowd.
Suddenly a familiar Duros face passes him and Evon quickly tries to match his pace to shed some light to the events.
,,Sergeant Luks, - asks as he reaches the Duros - what is going on here? What's the status? Where can I help?"
Drogos not one to take being shot from behind lightly traces back from where the round likely originated. Spotting the Sniper atop their perch the Inquisitor rushes to be just below his position and then reaches out with the force to catch the assailants throat, unfortunately he w3asn't able to get a good grip on the Sniper but he did throw him off balance with the mental assault.
The other four Squamatans jump in and start kicking Hale while he’s down, but can tell that it is to little effect. They draw various small weapons in turn, saps and expandable batons, as Hale thrashes about in the shallow water, blocking most of the blows.
(Success, but no damage past Soak; 2 Advantage for free Maneuver to draw weapons
@P-47 Thunderbolt).Hearing Somar's cry for help, Hawk sprints off after him.
