Reach of the Empire IC

By Edgehawk, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Beginner Game

The remaining Weequay guard can hardly believe he made it out, but doesn’t waste any time reflecting upon his luck. A short passage into the main hangar, then he practically leaps into the stairwell that leads up to the main deck, a spiral affair with space for a pole in the center.

”Breach on th... kpthksk...” He starts to shout, but then trips is his haste, hitting the steps hard and spitting out a tooth. If there is anyone above in the lounge to hear, they might have heard him..?

"I hear them! They're in the transport." As soon as he's sure it's clear, he makes his way to the craft to help free the prisoners.

Evon goes after Lt. Somar. ,,Wait me, Lieutenant! I can cover you. If they are really our crew I can identify them."

His thoughts float away for a moment, watching after the fleeing weequay. ,,After the mission my first thing is to ask one of the boys to give me some tips on shooting. I'm horrible. Anyway, back to work!" And he turns his focus back to the shuttle.

As the Weequay trips Drogos closes the gap between the two of them once more. He would not get away this time.

With one swing of his saber he dislodged the pirates head from its torso. Letting the body hit the floor he turns to Somar. “My pilot, we must hide the bodies if we are to remain hidden. This slippery one might have cost us, but we cannot assume all secrecy is lost yet.” Drogos picked up the body and kicked the head back into the last room.

Somar motions to the transport, "The captured troopers are in here. We can free them, and put the uglies in their place. Are their weapons salvagable?"

The IPD Intrepid is an Adz-class Patrol Destroyer, amongst the smallest capital ships in the empire’s arsenal. It consists of only three decks, with mouse droids scurrying through engineering crawlspaces between, keeping the ship systems running efficiently, maintaining the slave-circuit systems that permit the ship to operate with such a small crew. The tall superstructure rising above houses the bridge and bridge crew, and of course the ship’s powerful but finicky soliton-wave antennae at the top. A single spiral stairwell connects the decks, with a freestanding pole in the center, simple and practical.

On the main deck, the stairwell is adjacent to the crew lounge, where there are indeed a number of the Veiled Sorority’s interlopers. Fortunately for the Inquisitor and his team, the pirates are paying closer attention to the orders from their new captain, echoing down from above: “We are expecting guests! Lay to the hangar, to receive their shuttle!” Unfortunately, those orders are to head below. No sooner than the Zabrak callously kicks the severed head back into the aft bay, the sound of new activity in the stairwell can be heard. Shwwwwh-thud..shwwwwh-thud. Two slide down the pole, quickly arriving at the lower deck landing, with echoing footfalls indicating several others coming down in more conventional fashion. Thankfully, none notice the tooth lying on the steps, as they proceed to the landing and exit into the main bay.

Meanwhile, the transport bay just aft of the stairwell is in a flurry of its own activity. “You’re a sight for sore eyes, sir.” The freed corporal picks up a discarded riot blaster and motions for one of his troopers to pick up the other. A couple troopers retrieve vibroknives from the fallen Weequay, before stuffing them unceremoniously into the transport. The weapons locker inside the transport is empty. So what’s the plan?” He looks expectantly at the Lieutenant, then the Inquisitor and Doctor in turn.

(

@Shlambate @bsmith23 @Rimsen We are going to leave off here, until the shuttle team ( @Rabobankrider @Imperial Stormtrooper @P-47 Thunderbolt ) catches up with their posts).

Den almost jumps out of his suit at the sound of the child's voice. "Strewth, where did that come from?" He hisses quietly before turning back to focus on his job of piloting. As he brings the ship lazily around to the hanger of the Interpid, he half turns back in his seat. "Alright, we know how this is all meant to go down, but I hadn't planned on them splitting the prisoners. We need to make sure that they don't get a chance to fire on the shuttle. We also need to make sure that the prisoner doesn't start blabbing and put is in a vice". Den limits what he says in front of the prisoner and child, not wanting them to have any additional information that could cause the team trouble. "Just know Porel, if we are going down, I'll climb into you with my boots on, so you best keep your mouth shut".

The bottom of the stair opens forward into the main hangar, revealing a streamlined star yacht with chromium accents, occupying the port side berths more typically reserved for a flight of three TIEs. The starboard bay is vacant, as the Intrepid’s shuttle is maintaining position out in front, leaving plenty of space for the Stormcrow to land. The bay doors on both sides of the hangar are open, relying upon electromagnetic fields to keep the cold vacuum of space at bay.

”Wait here.” Venlana commands the two sorority pirates, who had slid down in advance of her descent. These two Weequay are armed with their traditional blaster lances, and assume a position of attention in a rough parody of the military tradition. The Baroness strides ahead into the hangar, looking the part now, with high boots and a long rust-colored cape. The tricorn hat might be a bit much, but the Lancer holstered at her hip lends a touch of credibility. Two crimson guards in laminate armor accompany her, both bearing the disruptor rifles that have become an alarming trend.

She arrives only just before the Stormcrow lands, but is there to greet the Imperial contingent as it disembarks: ”Welcome aboard. Let us get this unsavory trading over with, shall we? Porel first, if you please.”

Hale grins behind his helmet as he murmurs into his comm, addressing the squad and the agent, "[Alright agent, I'll let you do the talking. Boys, you sit tight'n the ship and wait for this all to go to hellinna handbasket, then be ready to rub 'em out. Luks, keep a handle on that trigger finger and bring the Twi, you're with me. This was your idea, after all.]" He hoists his Z-6, giving it a spin for good luck, and steps out, following the agent.

Briar descends the Stormcrow's ramp with two Stormtroopers and Porel "Fine." she says gesturing for the troopers to release Porel, "Now that you have half of what you want, if you don't mind," Briar added trying to keep up the appearance of politeness "return half of the Intrepid's crew to us, and let the shuttle return to the surface under Imperial control. Then we can finish this transaction."

“Very well.” Venlana activates the comlink on her lapel. “Bring the shuttle home.” Then, to her released assistant: “Porel. You’ve looked better. Please board my yacht and make yourself comfortable.” The Twi’lek’s expression is inscrutable, but his bearing is proud, as he complies.

The Intrepid’s Lambda-class shuttle arrives and sets down in the only remaining berth, next to the Stormcrow. The sorority pilot, a female Kel Dor in a green flightsuit, keeps her mask on as she exits the ramp.

A check to confirm a safe return of hostages reveals the XO and OPS officers, along with ten junior officers and enlisted crew, all in binders. Surprisingly, the three TIE pilots are also on board. All in all, approximately half of the ship’s small complement.

”You see? Even your pilots are intact.” Venlana motions to her departing pilot. “Unbind one of them, to take the shuttle down to the surface.” Then into her comlink: “Cutlass-One, escort the shuttle down to atmosphere, then return to your position.”

”Splendid. Agent Ostell, you are a natural. Many lives have been saved by your prudence and decisiveness today. The girl, now.”

Meanwhile back in the Aft Bay.

After depositing the pirates in the Transport Drogos approaches Somar, "My Pilot, give one of the men your blasters, I want you back in the experimental TIE, your skills as a pilot may yet be needed."

"I will get the Blaster back." He says reassuring Somar, "Damage can always be done when they do not expect the attack, they do not suspect an attack from behind when our allies come at them from the front." The Inquisitor says pointing out Somar had got them there under cover.

"Allright." Somar replies, handing over his blaster. "I'll detach and park off their stern. Communication is impossible while cloaked, so if you need something I'm going to need a creative signal."

"I will send a signal and you will know it. Should they act before I am ready then you act if they power the weapons or their engines begin to fire, neutralize the engines, then the Shuttle." He says before Somar leaves.

Checking through his guns as they prepare to disembark. Choosing his pistol he leaves his rifle and disruptor on the shuttle. Having a hand free with a hostage was always a little easier in these situations. Upholstering his pistol and surreptitiously checking that the knife and com was in place under his shell he stomps towards Porel. Grabbing them roughly by the scruff he shoves them ahead of him down the loading ramp. "Come on, let's go for a walk" he grunts as he stomps down the ramp.

Seeing the crimson guards accompany their leader , Den audibly scoffs, certainly loud enough to be heard. "More of these amateures? It's like you don't even take us seriously. Are you just trying to insult us with these blow up soldiers?" Normally Den wouldn't run his mouth so much (on duty), but for his role in the plan to work, he had to be antagonistic.

At the request for Porel, Den places his foot in the small of his back and shoves as hard as he can, sending him tumbling onto the floor. "Careful, he's very fragile" Den snarks as he tosses his pistol to his other hand.

Taking a deep breath, Den readies himself for his task. There was a fair chance that he was going to get shot instead of imprisoned, but then, that was the risk of being a stormtrooper. Turning to the pirate queen he begins to stomp foward, waving the pistol around his head wildly as he begins to shout. "Oi! You! Do you really think that you are in charge here? You have the, the guts to stand on an imperial ship, with imperial prisoners, and you think you're ever going to make it out of here alive? You should just give up you pirate scum!" As he approaches he leaves himself open to the crimson guard, hoping that they would actually do their job and defend their queen.

Hale can't help but grin beneath his helmet, but he barks out at Luks, "What the kriff do you think you're doing? Stand down trooper!"

"Sergeant! Stand down and return the shuttle!" Briar shouted at the stormtrooper, "You don't want to compromise an Imperial operation."

When Luks steps toward Venlana, brandishing his sidearm, the response from her crimson guards is immediate. One grabs the stormtrooper’s arm and gains control of the blaster, so that it points down toward the deck, while the other steps in front of the Baroness and covers the melee with his disruptor half-raised.

”Enough!!” Baroness Venlana Sipal exclaims, in a voice formerly reserved for consortium boardrooms. “Val!! Take this one and confine him with the other troopers.” A Zeltron emerges from the Yacht, and proceeds to lead the hotheaded Duros trooper over to the two Weequay guards by the stairwell. Venlana addresses Briar, as Luks is led away: “We will hold on to him for now, but be only too happy to give him back, once we have concluded our business.”

The Twi’lek man picks himself up from the deck where the Duros trooper had thrown him. With as much dignity as he can muster, he continues toward Venlana’s yacht as instructed, and boards.

”I am pleased to have my lieutenant back, but my Queen is quite adamant about obtaining custody of the girl,” Venlana continues. “The girl. Now, please.”

In the aft bay, the infiltration team hears the sound of footsteps approaching, and recognize Den’s voice as he continues to vociferously opine on the subject of piracy.

(

@CloudyLemonade92 You’ve been introduced into the scene, and may post when ready).

Hearing the commotion erupt outside from a barking voice followed by an unfailing echo which reverberated around the hangar, the Zeltron had already made his way to the Yachts entrance and was now Leaning against the frame at the top of the ramp in a casual fashion. He chuckled, a broad smile adorning his pink face, showing a row of pearly white teeth.

He stood at about 6.4 feet tall, broad frame but lithe in form, black hair that fell to his shoulders, well kept, pristine. His body covered with a well fitted robe that ran down to just above the knee, blue in appearance with smatterings of gold ceremonial trim winding along the seams. A belt tightly strapped around his waist, proudly showing a long Cutlass, its golden surface glinting beneath the artificial lights.

He walked down the ramp, his feet appearing as though they never touch the floor, soft steps, but sure, confident, his attention on the boisterous Trooper now being "manhandled" by the two Crimson Guards. His eyebrow raised slightly at his lack of physical resistance.

"Now, now. Is that how you speak to a lady?" He said, his voice smooth and exotic. A little disarming. He smiled at the Trooper and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"I think I've got this one, my friends, hm?" He said to the two guards, then proceeded to lead Luks towards the two Weequay. "Alright, boys, lets get this charming fella down with the others shall we?"

Hale grimaces and shakes his head slightly. His mother had always warned him about Zeltrons. Mostly Zeltron women, but the men had the pheromones too. And telepathy? he thinks.

Ugh. Well, as long as the pink guy was going with Luks, it shouldn't be an issue. For him at least, but they still had Veitra back on the planet. He shudders slightly. That lady gave him the creeps.

Evon hears incoming footsteps from the forward bay and Sgt. Luks familiar voice seeps through the walls.

,,Sir, incoming! They have sergeant Luks!" He quickly turns to the troopers and takes charge and points at an unarmed stormtrooper: ,,You, trooper get to the door and close it as soon as they are inside! Rest of the troopers, prepare to restrain the pirates. Silently! No shooting!" And he quickly takes position behind cover aiming at the door.

As the tall Zeltron led the Stormtrooper forward, he consciously began secreting his pheromones into the air. With his hand on the shoulder pauldron, he gently guided him through the adjoining corridor to the Aft bay, the two Weequay dropping back to guard the entrance to the main Hangar. Val leaned in close over Den's shoulder.

"Your presence here may put my own task in jeopardy.." His smooth voice just above a whisper. "please don't try anything.. too dramatic.. friend."

He made an effort to linger on the word friend and then dropped his hand to the hilt of the Cutlass, running his fingers in small circles on the pommel before touching the door control to the Aft bay.

Den puts on a real show of struggling against the crimson troopers, going dead weight in their arms as is feet drag behind him. Flailing, kicking and bellowing as he is dragged away, Den draws on every curse word and insult from his time on the shipyards of duros. The list he had to draw on was considerable, and most of it unrepeatable as he switches regularly between galactic basic and his own tongue. At one point he tries to spit at one of the troopers, but wearing a helmet makes it rather difficult to achieve this.

As the newcomer approaches Den pretends to try and pull away from the grip of the guards, taking broad kicks in their general direction as he goes. "A lady? I only see pirate scum here!" Caught up in the act, it is unlikely that Den makes the connection of what the zeltron is saying (at least not straight away), and continues to sling whatever relevant slurs he can think of as they go. A lot of what is said would be considered fairly hurtful in some of the seedier parts of the galaxy, but as the pheromones begin to work Den starts to quieten down (or tire out). "I'm not here to help you with your task, pal. If you ain't imp, you ain't exactly my primary concern".

Val pauses before pushing the door control. His hand hanging there.

If you ain't imp, you ain't exactly my primary concern

"Well.." Val says, turning to him with a smile. His hand dropping back to his side. "For that I am glad, being your primary concern would be short lived, and messy I think, no? So what is your primary concern, why would a trooper make a scene in such a delicate exchange as this one with the fury of his superiors undoubtedly to come down on him like fiery coals... unless?"

Val gives him a broad smile. "Don't worry, I'm sure when you get the fake binders off, everything will be fine."

He flicked the control, and the doors opened with a whoosh.
