Reach of the Empire OOC

@AtariAssasin and @EnsignActual you are up, in no particular order.

Hugo is wriggling up the conduit behind the Kyuzo and his animal companion, I believe? It is considered Difficult Terrain, though your compatriots possess Swift, so they are nearing the next level while you are only halfway. Hugo can hear the encrypted com-chatter of the death troopers, as they sweep the nearby server stacks below.

Charon easily gains the 1st sublevel landing, just as blaster fire erupts, ricocheting up the lift shaft. The large room the shaft opens into, has obviously been the site of a recent firefight, with a number of fallen rebel security troops to be seen; there is a single door, in the far wall, behind a severely damaged desk. Above, up the shaft, it is a long climb up to the main resort levels.

Is this the right OOC?

I tagged them, so it shouldn’t really matter. Should direct interaction occur, I would like the IC posts to be in this game, though.

I'm back! @Edgehawk , sorry but can I get a quick update on what I've missed?

You didn't miss too much :)

Whole lot of nothing, mostly. I fear I’ve sabotaged this game, and basically failed to launch another...

Will likely need to separate them sooner, rather than later, if either stories are to progress with any momentum.

Eh, we all have down times (including me, right now, in a game I'm currently running :P ).

One thing you may want to consider (aside from knuckling down and pushing through) is to have the two games be "different timelines" and immediately separate the players, having both games progressing independently.

Then use the PCs as NPCs or replace them with other NPCs in the game in question. I don't know about the other game, but we currently don't really know who we're fighting. (actually, I think you mentioned it in an IC post, but that's easily edited)

I don't mind it yet (though P47's concerns are understandable). I wish we would go on. I believe we are waiting on the rebels now?

@Rabobankrider @Imperial Stormtrooper @Shlambate @P-47 Thunderbolt @bsmith23 @Rimsen @Barbaross41

@Darth__Lego @AtariAssasin @EnsignActual @MrTInce

I’m prepared to write off this concept as a mistake, or at least poorly executed, on my part. Not because of player versus player tensions, as was feared, because the game has hardly progressed to broach that subject; but rather, I suspect, just too many players for a PBP to move forward smoothly- even just for a short joint interaction.

I propose that we continue the rebel escape upward, in its own thread, exclusive of further interaction, with just those four players.

Likewise, the imperials can continue clearing the levels, delving downward, and complete their primary objective.

I am open to your ideas, but for either of these games to progress forward, I really think this is for the best. Thanks for playing, and I hope we can get both of these games flowing again, presently!

@Edgehawk I think we can keep the games related to one another without needing these big set pieces.

Have us complete quests and adventures that affect each game and we will feel the other players.

Guest appearances of one or two from either side may also be easier. Such as the Inquisitor being in control of some Stormtroopers chasing the rebels down. I would recommend that these happen rarely as to make them both special and not slow the games down too much.

For big Team vs Team bouts they need to be the rarest interaction, and I think we need to all be on the same IC from the start so that the confusion and slowness doesn’t occur.

I think I might save this option for a conclusion to these games (not anytime soon), should they draw naturally toward an epic climax. Otherwise the two sides will not meet again, at least not with their full complements.

@Edgehawk , would you please summarize the current in-game status, where everybody is, current objectives, and who's up?

Sorry, might be a little absent in the next 1-2 weeks due to exams.

2nd Sublevel Control Room :

  • Briar
  • Hale
  • Banshees
  • Hawk
  • Den
  • Evon

3rd Sublevel Server Stacks :

  • Drogos
  • Death Troopers
  • Rebels
  • Ral

(For our purposes, the 2nd sublevel is quickly cleared. Briar’s shooting at shadows can be edited out, or narrated as you see fit. @Imperial Stormtrooper You may choose to take a different Action. The control room contains a number of computer consoles, sabotaged or shutting down, with varying degrees of success. An Average Computers check, with a Setback, can salvage some of the information that would otherwise be destroyed).

Initiative order:

  1. Briar 4s 2a 1t
  2. Rebels (below, left) 4s 1t
  3. Drogos 3s 2a
  4. Death Troopers 3s 2a
  5. Rebels (below, right) 3s 1a
  6. Hale 2s 3a
  7. Banshee Squad (2)
  8. Hawk 2s 1a
  9. Den 2s
  10. Evon 1s 6a
  11. Ral 0s 4a

Is this correct? Is Hale up now, and then Banshee squad? What are the numbers for the Rebel and Death Trooper minion squads?

In the previous post, I split it by sublevel, for clarity. Here is the full roster.

I'll think on what makes the most sense. Is the other sound still there, or was that related to the rebel PCs?

That was also related to the rebel PCs...

Okay, I had Hale and the Banshees go into the room and start to look around.

What do we find? Any checks?

There are a dozen or so consoles, also several larger screen displays. All appear to be in some degree of shutdown- it does not take a computer specialist to see they are in the process of deleting files.

The 2nd sublevel seems deserted at this point, no hostile targets.

Also, I usually assume “Stark” (He’s a Specialist, a Banshee, but serves as pilot) is with the shuttle? Is this the case?

I believe so, as he was never with the minion group before.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything else in the room I'll try the computers check.

Computers : 3eP+1eA+2eD+1eS 4 successes, 1 threat, 1 Triumph

Nice! Does the triumph save even more information, or something else? Also what's the threat?

I'll edit my post sometime today or tomorrow after I know the results.

Briar is able to salvage 40% of the files, for the 4 Successes. With the Triumph, she can put a file back together, something they definitely would have wanted to delete.

Before I leave the elevator and follow Briar, i'd check if anyone can be saved from the fallen storm- or deathtroopers. I know it was mentioned, Griff is beyond redemption and we chose other action than saving him, anyone else left? I'm going to climb out after I'm done with this

Edited post is up

Oh... now I need to edit my post. I'll get right on that.
