THE MANDALORIAN

I thought, based on how much they wanted it and rushed to consume it, that maybe it had a sort of drug quality to it for them. They could get snacks anywhere, but THAT egg yolk is just...transcendent lol

Maybe, but as someone motivated by specific types of food, I could see it just being just that **** delicious just as easily.

That is very true. In fact it was pretty much what I look like when Cadbury Creme Eggs go on sale each year...

One of the YouTube vids I saw (can't remember which one) said that the egg could be a metaphor for the young Yoda. He is in an egg of sorts and if the Mandalorian turns him in, the empire can put him to a similar fate as the hairy egg. I thought it was interesting.

Are you me?

Honestly, I really enjoy this show.

But I'm sick and tired of The Force.

They do seem incapable or unwilling to produce a show without it. I hope that was it though...

btw, change your name back. So many times, I have been like, who the heck is this?

Wait, how do we change our names?

It’s easy, let me guide you.

First you need to kill a Jedi Temple’s worth of younglings ...

I really like this show!

also btw @Whalers on the moon you have to log into asmodee.net rather than these forums. it should be there in account settings.

and I agree, I too want Captain Lackwit back

Thank you @Kieransi . I changed that a little while ago. Hopefully these will update eventually...

I had a hard time with the last episode. While I enjoyed all the action and the feel of the Star Wars universe (and will probably sneak in a 3rd viewing tonight), the plot barely moved. I would have rather had 4 one hour episodes that each told a story than 8 half-episodes. That may just be the old person in me not being able to get with the new method of storytelling. Or the young person in me that just doesn't get the serialized version of storytelling from the good old days.

And yes, bring back the Cap'n.

No, it's not a temporary change. It's a change going forward, and it didn't start on this site. If I could have a ship avatar I'd have made a new account, but this girl likes Y-Wings and dislikes the other Star Wars avatars. So, old account. Discretion is advised googling this name but you'll figure out why the old name ain't never comin' back.

About six hours till next Episode.

Perhaps I was tired, which I was, and I need to watch the episode again because while I love the first two episodes something about this third one doesn’t do it for me.

I think this episode accentuated the weakest element of the show, the writing specifically the dialogue and brings back my gripes with Filoni’s direction on Rebels.

Things I love :

-Whole conversation with the guild leader.

-Love that there are Imperial warlords. Technically the Empire is gone but really there are numerous successor states far enough away from the core that the New Republic can’t be bothered to fight them. This is way more realistic than the Empire somehow completely disappearing after Jakku.

-Mon Cala Bounty

-The Mandalorians arriving at the shootout.

-The Clone Wars flashbacks

Things I didn’t love :

-Too many awkward, unmotivated beats such as everyone in the bar looking at the Mando as he enters the bar. Why? He’s a regular and they don’t know he has the shiny new duds yet.

-Mandalorian forge conversation felt clunky and wooden.

-The chaingun Mando went from hating our boy to jetpacking beside the Razorcrest and saluting, which in itself was super cringy and makes no sense given there is still a gunfight going on. Why the change of heart? Our boy didn’t do anything different!

-If The Asset was so important why the relative lack of security? If it was a temporary safe house why not move the asset immediately off planet somewhere the outside contractors wouldn’t know?

-Werner Herzog very clearly was desperate to get Baby Yoda back and the money to do so that I don’t buy for a moment ) would be so careless in protecting it as shown here.

-There is no nuance to the enemies. Our boy is a badass but why do the Stormtroopers have to be as mookish as the guild members and any of the outlaws in the pilot?

I will give this ep another watch but it episode felt so off from the first two in terms of quality. It felt like an episode of Rebels.

Greef Carga said it himself : he was a 'legend' now, he collected on that bounty that all of them had been offered, but failed to collect on. They knew that he'd won that bounty of beskar and 'had all imagined themselves wearing it.'

I'd say he certainly did something different... he went from 'being in bed with' the Imperials, which was his main complaint, to pretty much wiping them out.

Most of these hold up, but the chaingun Mando hated him for working with the empire. He saluted the titular Mando after he attacked the empire. Also it establishes that the Mandalorians are supportive of each other with all matters outside of the clan. This is a relatively common movie trope and a pretty important mindset any militant group.

I assume that he blasted off in the middle of the battle because everyone else was just in clean up time? The shot of the continuing firefight didn't make a lot sense and was pretty unnecessary though, I agree here along with many of your other points.

Overall I like the episode.

The near legendary Hamilton Beach 4-Quart Capacity Ice Cream Maker from Cloud City makes an appearance in the Mandalorian.

However this maybe bit of a stretch ...

I immediately identified that rod! although it sits in the middle of the screen for about 30 seconds and I'm sure everyone else did too, but I was still proud of myself.
